Vergil is seeking power to destroy the demons, but goes for the demon power so that he can never be powerless or hurt again, whereas Dante believes in humanity (and being Dante :D). That's the difference between them and that's why they fight each other, but otherwise both seek to destroy demons.

HeavySandvichGuy1 No it wasn't. Vergil's moveset comes directly from DMC3:SE, and is an expansion thereof. That is a fact. You can try to debate however you want to, DmC was slow clunky mess, unless that's what you're into. The majority of players prefer the DMC3/4 combat, that's evident from the lack of DmC2, it was never going to happen; DmC was terrible in multiple aspects (including its story and character development) nevermind battle mechanics. DMCV E3 2018. Keep your eyes peeled.

+eternal0star Super Vergil is needed a lot for a couple of reasons : unlimited SSwords usage, plus Trick Down and some altered stuff linked to the DT state, like Rapid Slash, and his moves' speed can help up link stuff when non-DT Vergil cannot due to him being slower.
