The original Freedom Dual was the first 35mm camera I owned -- I bought one used at a camera show in like 1988 or 89. It was actually the AF-DL, which was what the camera was called outside the US. That thing was a warhorse; I used it on trips, but mostly I used it in college to take goofy pics of people at my frat's parties (I went to Stevens Tech, so the frat was a nerdy, music-loving one). I still love those pics for how sharp they were and how well the flash worked. And the camera never failed, despite the beer-soaked conditions I used it in. For some reason, I donated the original camera to the FPP a few years ago, but just picked up another one on eBay for like $15. Can't wait to use it.

Olympus xa one of my all time favorites super easy to carry everyday and that manual focus gives you so much control over just a regular point and shoot

I have one of the Minolta Freedom Dual C cameras in fine shape -- part of my 'dual automatics' collection -- seems to have been a bunch released by most manufacturers between their initial single focal-length versions and their earliest zoom versions. Many of them have a cool little mini lens that pops up inside in the image/light path for the longer focal length. So far in testing, the name-brand versions all produce very good images at either focal length.

Same here, the 'thrift stores years' were around 2008-2010. I got myself quite a few old Pentax SLRs back then.

It's always great to see what other people have on their shelves! I never really got the Lomo thing - if I want vignetting and soft edges I just put the CZJ 29mm 2.8 on my Praktica. I have the Nikon TW-2 which is a twin lens like your .. er was it a Minolta? It was cheap and the results are quite good. I am puzzled by the popularity of the Mju II fixed and zoom lens varieties. The fixed lens Mju II is only half a stop faster than the Mju I, yet it goes for maybe £200 more. I had a Mju II Zoom 80 and it was alright apart from the flare they are renowned for- bought for £5 at the local market and recently sold for £120 on ebay. I actually prefer the very ugly Konica Z-Up 70 which cost me £1. I can't wait for the next shelf! Keith

Thanks Keith - I like my Mju II well enough, but honestly, I don’t think it quite lives up to the hype.
