hi, i also use this camera, but when i turn on the flash, the red light does not turn on. the flash does not fire even if the flash button is on. does this mean my camera is broken? i don't know... if the flash does not fire, am i not able to take the photo? i don't know much about cameras, i would be glad if you could help me.
@theoldcameraguy2 күн бұрын
It’s possible the flash is broken. You can still take pictures even if the flash doesn’t fire though.

I picked up one and have used it on two of my cameras. Yashica 124 g with the cable and Pentax LX with the hot shoe. I mostly used the half power and the results were great.

Great - I was really happy with the half power mode too.

Reflx Lab didn't send me this flash (they sent me the mini one, which I didn't finish that video on yet eek, had to shoot a wedding today) I bought the simple flash, but mine did not come with those gels. Bummer!
@theoldcameraguy5 күн бұрын
I didn’t know about the gels until I went to their website. After seeing them on there, I opened the box again and discovered the gels underneath a little cardboard divider.

If you like vintage film cameras (who doesn't?), find and buy a functioning Minolta AL-F or HiMatic-E to use with this flash. Those cameras were designed to be used with full-power manual flashes, as they set the aperture based on focusing distance with manual flashes. You select the guide number on the lens, and the camera does the rest. You can get Wegee-like black backgrounds in many lighting situations, shooting manual flash, if the flash is powerful enough. A guide number of 10 likely won't do that in most situations.

3:06 -- the dual-lens point & shoots are fun -- less limiting than a single-focal-length point & shoot, but not as flexible as a zoom, and most of them don't have much of a telephoto lens. I've been collecting various models (Nikon TeleTouch also) and comparing them. The methods that the various companies used to switch between the lenses are fascinating, usually Rube-Goldberg mechanisms that can be prone to failure/jamming up. It's always fun to use a camera that is louder when switching between the internal lenses than shooting or even rewinding!!! 😁

I can just imagine some of those basic P&S cameras you have hanging from pegs at my local Target/Kmart/Caldor/Jamesway in the mid '90s, all of them in those impossible-to-open plastic clamshells.

can you show as the settings and how long you shoot long exposures please
@theoldcameraguy8 күн бұрын
I used a light meter app on my phone for long exposures. Just set the film’s ISO and aperture of f11 on the app and then the app will calculate the exposure time for you. Then I used the stopwatch on my phone to time the long exposure.
