Our fan base primarily consists of accountants, which explains their tendency to engage in discussions regarding the cost-effectiveness of our players, while other fans focus on winning trophies. Despite our accountant fans finding satisfaction in acquiring players at lower costs, they do not directly benefit from it. However, FSG's support extends beyond financial backing. For instance, they made significant changes, including dissolving Michael Edwards' recruitment team. This decision indicates a willingness to accommodate Klopp's preferences, underscoring his influence within the club. FSG's understanding of our fan base is evident in their strategic approach, maintaining a narrative that emphasises that we got no money, resulting in comparatively lower financial investments than clubs like West Ham and Aston Villa. Despite Liverpool's illustrious history, which includes six UEFA Champions League trophies, second only to Real Madrid and AC Milan, not to mention the league position and domestic Cup success, those fans who perceive FSG didn't back Klopp financially. This raises the question: why haven't these fans held FSG accountable? It appears that some fans allow emotions to cloud their judgment, failing to engage in critical analysis. This may explain FSG's emphasis on competing rather than solely focusing on winning. Furthermore, Liverpool FC is a globally recognised football club, generating a significant portion of its revenue from global TV rights and its expansive international fan base. Criticizing the club's management without attending matches is an unfounded and baseless claim.

Feyenoord and Liverpool are my teams, so i really hope it will work. You never really know if what works at one team in one league works for another team in another league. But if it works, you people will see a beautifull pressing machine with fast forward thinking and technical savy attacks. This year i've seen games from Feyenoord where the other team barely crossed the midline.

excellent post Dave, I do think the club has done very well with its first on-pitch major decision. perhaps even exceptionally well, that remains to be seen but the ingredients for that are there. Slot lacks PL experience and, unfortunately, that adjustment may costs us some points next season as it did with Klopp his first season getting acclimated to the intensity & frequency of matches; and managing the roster accordingly. But I think Slot may very well prove perfect for the next era of Liverpool. I have yet to hear insights into Slot's record for integrating youth into the first team setup, so if you develop any on this issue, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Liverpool seem bursting at the seams with young players ready for post-academy development at the Championship and/or PL level -- I am very anxious to see how the club goes about advancing the development of these players. Thanks agin Dave, you're the best!!

If we win trophies, I don't care how boring the press conferences are.

We will have to be patient. Remember how patchy and inconsistent Klopp's results were when he first arrived. We are in the second year of what Klopp called Liverpool 2.0, but now with a new coach. It will take time for the team to gel. We need to enjoy watching the team develop, just like we enjoyed seeing how Klopp changed the way the team played back in October 2015. The performance will be more important than the results. If we qualify for the Champions League again this season and see good performances that seem to be leading forward, that will be success.

Brilliant analysis - keep it up David. Love your commentary man ❤. We could do with a Manager that is lucky! Klopp was fantastic, but not the luckiest. Slot will need funding, otherwise I see us and him struggling big time. The PL is so tough vs Eredivisie. He will find it difficult, as high line/ aggressiveness is risky football strategy, most PL teams know how to play us now. Players get burned half way in season hence high # of injuries. Hence we need funding / bigger rounded squad. That’s why I would have preferred more defensive coach/style. I hope he has a plan B and Plan C for defence/game close out management otherwise we will struggle. We needed a Xabi Alonso to really give us the X factor. I’m not sure about Slot. Time will tell.

My main concern is that Slot is not a big name manager which can help attract players to the club. Listening to the players in their messages to Klopp alot mentioned talking to him before they signed, will Slot have the same pull?.. i feel this is where Rodgers struggled to attract top players.
@somebodyelseuk5 ай бұрын
Our policy hasn't been about attracting 'top players' since FSG came in. It's about turning players in to top players, nor has it been the manager who signed them. In Klopp's time, we only brought in Allison & VVD as sought after players. Everyone else were players who weren't really attracting attention. Three of Klopp's 'stalwarts' were signed under Rodgers - Gomez, Milner & Firmino.
@thomasthomas66456 ай бұрын
Reflecting on Klopp's era evokes a bittersweet feeling, not solely because of its success, but because of the colossal unfulfilled potential. The cracks in the system and the gradual decline were glaringly obvious, impossible to ignore. While skepticism about FSG as owners lingered from the start, time only validated those doubts. However, my perspective shifted towards Klopp's management from the 2020-21 season onwards. It began to resemble the Benitez era, marked by an overbearing sense of authority. Klopp's growing arrogance and unwillingness to heed advice led to the abrupt end of his 20-year friendship with Zelko Buvac (the brain) and the exodus of key personnel from Michael Edwards' team. This erosion of talent severely impacted the team's performance and tarnished Klopp's legacy. Despite unwavering support from FSG, it was clear they were too afraid to say no to him, knowing full well how much the LFC fans love him. If Klopp even hinted that FSG weren't listening to him, fans would have driven FSG across the pond for good. Klopp seemed reluctant to request essential reinforcements for key positions. The over-reliance on a handful of players such as VVD, AR, MS, TAA, Fabinho, and Henderson was glaring, especially given Klopp's demanding style of play. The lack of depth on the bench was not just evident; it was alarming. It's confounding why Klopp failed to address this issue. It seemed as though he had forgotten his role as the manager of Liverpool FC, instead focusing on his sway over FSG. This shift in power dynamics led to a situation where accountability became elusive, akin to the behavior of dictators.
@somebodyelseuk5 ай бұрын
I think the Buvac (2018) thing may have been more to do with his refusal to learn English. It's something he's mentioned in relation to players who have been let go in recent years - I remember him not being happy about Nunez not having learned any English this time last season, and there was a comment about having too many interpreters on the staff when Minamino was at the club. It's no secret, either that Keita couldn't speak English when he was let go. Not saying it's the entire reason, but it must be a PITA having coaching meetings, and having to repeat everything, because one person doesn't speak English after two years of being there? It was something Benitez insisted on when he came, and I believe Slot will insist on it, too - they say he insisted on everyone speaking English at Feyenoord.

Let's be honest, in true FSG fashion we settled for 3rd best. Xabi turned us down, which there's nothing we could do about that, but with Amorim, it's nonsense that he wasn't chosen because of his style of play. It's a narrative that talking heads are pumping out. I believe that it was the Sporting chairman that took the knock about the leaks of his coach being linked to Liverpool. So despite agreeing a package with Liverpool and contracts exchanged with Amorim himself, the chairman had a fit and asked for double. To be fair, I don't blame the club for saying no and not being held to ransom, but this narrative of we were always looking at Slot, he was our man and look at the depths we went to, to research him, yada, yada! It's nonsense, we wanted Amorim over Slot and that's why we heard all of that before the U-turn on Amorim. The fact is Xabi turned us down, chairman of Sporting fcked it for Amorim and we went sloppy 3rd's with Slot. So please, stop the nonsense, you've been briefed and this is just a story to placate the fan base. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm seriously underwhelmed with this appointment to be honest, but who else would we have gone for? My issue is profile, because it's my belief that it could hamper transfers. If you're a top player you'd be wondering why you want to play for this guy because he's so unknown. In retrospect, I think deep down we all know it should have been Xabi. But qué sera, we move on, Slot it is. Hopefully it all works out. YNWA

What about Klopp winning two league titles against the likes of Munich and CL finalist under a tight budget has more significance then the rest of the cosmetics thats stated…”brain training “..ok?.. results will show if the cosmetic.. is the reason..they get it right flowers to them.. hands down if not there nowhere to hide..

Because hes a yes man and will coach the players with Edwards running the club. Just not interested in the man. He has done nothing to prove himself. Really gutted.

You are so wrong. We as fans want to see our players fit for the whole season. That was almost impossible under klopp due to what he asked of the players. We could have won so much more had our players been able to get on the pitch. If the new manager is going to come in and run the players into the ground then we will not be expecting any glory from that as everyone in the league has adapted to that style we get caught out way to often. Shambles from The club if that was part pf their choice

How can you spit out such bile against Klopp? 😂 If we didn't play with such intensity we'd have won nothing. And Mo and VVD played almost every game since they've been here.. The only time they were injured was the Pickford challenge on VVD and Salah went to AFCON and got injured. Maybe the players themselves needed to look after themselves the way those two have. Klopp had to sell his best players to buy his best players so he had to get everything out of what he had. If Slot has them trotting around doing backheels he'll be out by Christmas.

You're a little late to the party, aren't ya with a video like this? Don't run a Liverpool channel, when you have no clue what to talk about next.
