When I was a kid around 5 or 6, in the cotton field with my mom, they would sing this as a work song. I guess to encourage people to get their 100 (lbs of cotton) by noon or sometime. My brother and I, together could never pick more than about 70 lbs. Then the folk would sing that song in church on Sunday. We were afraid for a long time, thought we were going to Hell, cause we couldn't get that hundred! I just wish someone would have explained it all. Know what I sayin...
