Are the entities we meet within DMT hyperspace benevolent, or might they have a more malicious intention towards us? Are we welcome guests or easy prey?
In this conversation with Julian Palmer we discuss our own takes on what entities might be and how we interpret these interactions.

I'm just getting back into listening to the psychedelic subject matter after taking a few years off. But MAN! Julian Palmer is SO great to listen to. He dares to address the "bad trip" phenom as (possibly) being "entity possession". I started tripping in 1971 when I was in 10th grade with older kids who encouraged massive dose LSD trips with virtually NO "trip killers" on hand except for an occasional quaalude. We were using Dr. Leary's book "The Psychedelic Experience" as our guide to help us navigate into the higher "Bardo states". It provided a "map" that helped tremendously. But at some point, I started experiencing those EXTREME "bad trips". It's 14 hours of pure HELL. And yeah, could be described as DEMONIC POSSESSION. In fact, it's the best way to describe it. You are literally fighting tooth and nail for possession of your own body and mind. I couldn't EVER discuss it with anyone satisfactorily. The "usual" explanations never sufficed because I naturally have a very stable mind with an easygoing personality. I am not a religious person and rely heavily on logic and reason to understand life in general... also I developed a strong meditation practice (which got tested in ways I couldn't ever imagine). But I would love to hear from others in the community, who understands this. I want to hear them talk about how they deal with this scary, and dangerous phenom.

A few days ago I took 120mg of Harmala HCI extracts and then a medium hit of DMT. When I broke through I was able to dissolve & create realities at will as well as transition between dual & non-dual states. It was my first time doing that but I’m pretty sure the entities and manifestations of our ego. So next time your in there see if you can change the reality✨😉

Im older, 52, made dmt at home a year ago. A fire fighter about 10 years younger than myself told me I had to try it. Been sober for 25 years but in my youth did my share of lsd and mushrooms . Dmt , smoked sounded intriguing in many ways, especially in the short duration. Long story short made it, very easy. watched videos , some of yours were among them.. ALL say 3 big hits. Did that,, Wigged out, Thought I poisoned myself and my soul was leaving my body. NOTE, if you make vids on smoking DMT, you should say,, IF inexperienced , start with 1 hit , then maybe 5 minutes later take 2 small hits. keep the high low level.. There is a strong body rush , which I was not expecting. That along with the world that opens up , can be extremely shocking.. Watched a vid yesterday , a woman was scared mentally for 8 years now.. Given 3 hits, and wigged out, became petrified of her mortality and death. 8 years later she is crying about her dmt experience. Good vids you got, but you should drop a disclaimer in the beginning , dont do 3 big hits to start if you never did dmt before. Ive done 5 hits of acid many times, handfuls of shrooms, The speed and power of dmt ,,, was not prepared for, at all.. Just a suggestion Getting to the topic at hand.. Did dmt a little over a year ago at 51. thought i killed myself , soul leaving etc,, keeping the situation short.. I was still rattled a couple hours later.. Was watching TV, a calmness descended on the room, a calmness descended on me,, Telepathic instructions came into my brain on how to properly approach DMT and he worlds beyond.. "It" said,, do 1 hit, lay back, close your eyes, relax,, Then it said take 2 hits relax,.. said you need to ease your yourself into the other side. So went from , kind of scared and freaked out about dmt, swearing Id never touch again to , having info downloaded into my brain and me becoming calm nd at peace.. So I followed its instructions, Started slow,, Then when I did 3 big hits , the body rush happened and the eyes closed world unfolded I was prepared . This " guardian spirit" or whatever it was with me for 3 hours of continuous multiple trips that evening.. Kept saying in my head,, stay calm, you are ok,, breath,, kept repeating that mantra to me . On each trip it even explained to me things I was seeing. . Very awesome feeling . That guide was only with me that one evening. I was sober when it first came to me. explained how to gently ease my mind into the dmt world. its like these spirits, things you encounter often do not even resemble anything biological, very machine like , but not even resembling humanoid form.. Like a conscious mechanical pyramid.. All "things" I have encounter seem positive, happy to see me. One wasnt happy, seemed irritated I invaded its space. ejected me down a wormhole . I was told there are being on much higher levels than myself . Things I can never ever comprehend.

I tell people my trips , try to get them to try it,, no takers , And yes they probably think i sound kookoo. Im old , I dont care what people think. Caring what people think is for young people. I guess not caring is one of the benefits of getting older

This is a philosophical discussion and really respect Julian's perspective which seems to be aligned to the animistic cosmology, which I suspect is something we are naturally going to go back to. It seems to me we are in a crisis of meaning and the Cartesian/materialistic paradigm is currently being challenged by the expansion of consciousness. It's the same question around NDE's which have been thoroughly explored by the esteemed Peter Fenwick which present many strong reasons to validate the reality of these. I am very prone to entity experiences, in dream states also, meeting the mushroom being lately, not so keen on this male kind of energy, much more comfortable with mother aya who has been very gentle with me.
@vinny5638

How do you think society will adjust to this crisis of meaning, by relying more on self exploration from these types of experiences or something different? I see a lot of my younger peers going many different routes spiritually but many of them are abandoning monotheistic beliefs for more of an animism based approach
@janetjacks3406
@janetjacks3406 2 жыл бұрын
@@vinny5638 It's understandable that your peers are abandoning monotheistic beliefs, I mean religion hasn't exactly been fulfilling that's for sure. I suspect the more they enter these none ordinary states the more animism will gain traction and perhaps we are going to have to navigate this new terrain and figure out exactly what it means to us.

around 33min in, i agree, when they get real close they can read you like a newspaper, rifling through memories and experiences like burglars, it's not settling at all. 42min in, sweet lethe, the water break of memory. 45min in, sound is a fundamental element, since in only-informationland communication is king, and music cannot lie, it must dance apparent. 52min in, yes, the universe is all the opposites, the terrible side of awe, awe-full, and the endless wonder of awe-sum, the closer to the nondual truth the more terrifying to identity it becomes even though the unity is the most attractive thing ever dreamt of, because it was, and is a memory, an echo that orders everything in the individual life to let you out to play in this elysium and yet long for home, sweetly, faintly, in the mystery of the night forest. 61min in, had a few panic-seizure events on acid and couple times on real good weed, (back when i was a noob), and they were terrifying, mostly to others, but also incredible jagged psychedelic moments, until finally i fell in the bathroom. i missed the tub, sink, and toilet, and somehow fixed my previously injured back when i emerged from the seizing... they all previously initiated with graphic visuals of imagined personal injury, too. 70min in, the jaguar outside the hut, is there or not, for each one individually, invisible to others, shaman or not. the confrontation is yours and yours alone, to wrestle the jaguar, to engage its game, understanding all the while it can tear you to shreds at any time. as terence said, nature loves courage. the shamans songs and incense and wands and dancing all contribute to getting the jaguar calmed down, if and when your fear has raised it's demon-hackles. those acts all conform the experience to the will of the participants collective intents, taking control of the environment, respectfully, one hopes. 86min in, by any means romance your delusions, but its all just a magic ball, cinderella... 91min in, psychedelics as consumer products, is a divide by zero, does not compute. as a service, if its done right, might be just fine. but taking the time to grow them yourself, to get to know them, slowly, is best if you're serious in trusting these plants and their agendas to order your chaotic life. excellent interview thank you

My experience with entities is that as incredible and magnificent as some are, they seem to be completely unaware of what they do and why they do - they just have a role to play, and I think they are a bit like proteins and viruses - autonomous robots that seem to have a kind of overall balance. Some know great things and can offer huge wisdom, while others feel incredibly potent and can be easily startled and yet the little tricky buggers just seem to have psychedelic ADHD. But for sure, they are part of the wider reality that most of us don’t get to experience and I really think that, as humans, we wouldn’t be able to handle all of reality without our minds failing. Maybe we can with practice and surrender but I’m not totally sure. Any time I explore new dimensions or realms I’m aware it’s always just a fraction at a time.

I'm not convinced that entities must be real just because they feel more real than real. The world we perceive when we're sober isn't the real world. It's a reconstruction we allucinate based on the inputs we get from our senses. It makes sense that pure imagination, unfiltered and unbiased by the imperfect input of our senses feels more real that that. The only thing that keeps me doubting, is that I don't know how could I ever come up with stuff so alien and unrelated to anything I've ever experienced. If our mind is that weird, it's amazing really.

Great discussion! I can't help but wonder though, How many times do you need to get completely blasted just to enjoy some personal growth? I mean, I chow on mushrooms once or twice a month at most. Maybe a monster dose once a year, and that gives me plenty to consider. What type of "progress" comes from such intense and frequent use? I'm not hearing much about continuous growth. Is there a goal?
@AdeptusPsychonautica
@AdeptusPsychonautica Жыл бұрын
I think this idea of a goal which is there to be achieved is a misfire. As a comparison then why continue having sex, is there any point once you have done it or have had kids? Why go watch the sunset once you have seen it already? The goal (if such a word could be applied) is to connect with your experience as a human being, and that goal never ends. Some people explore space, some people explore their consciousness, some people are fine as they are - its all good.

I like what you both pointed out in the "other people" section. I was really disappointed when I read through Michael Pollon's "How to change your mind" and there wasn't a single mention of entity encounters. So ridiculous to leave out what is probably the most striking element of the psychedelic experience. It does make me think that perhaps him and Carhartt-Harris hold back from talking about that particular aspect of the experience so they won't scare people away. Which I kind of understand, you don't want to derail the progress that is being made with bringing awareness of the healing potential of these compounds to the general public, or to attract ridicule or even cause panic, but ultimately I think it's criminal to downplay something that presents such massive potential for our understanding of consciousness.

I have no Idea what to think about that jester laughing and dancing in an empty room as a metaphor showing that there is no-thing but to me, all of this is modeling and speculation. Can we really know what these things are or is the mind upon return trying to grasp and reach for control as it spins it's story about an experience that was actually not for the it's benefit but reserved for something more fundamental within us?

I believe the DMT space is synonymous with the astral/mental realm. I've seen it as a child long before ever taking psyches, and have seen it through meditation too (it was slower and far more crisp). Entities are not wholly internal creations, again from previous experience as a child. I think there is an ecosystem and they fulfill specific roles that nature requires for motivating biological life at key moments, that can't be entrusted to matter alone. The problem we have is believing all thoughts are our own, that we enter into another space on DMT, when in fact we are always there and much of our thinking really isn't ours at all!

I think there really is a part of the dmt experience which is real . many similarities Ive noticed.. Starts with geometry, phases of it can be machine like , can be flowing, various dimensions , maybe having flybys of alien civilizations, seeing what can be described as heaven, interactions with things, even aliens.. I would say in general this covers most of the experiences Ive heard when people describe their trips.. Ive never heard , I saw mickey mouse, which i saw a 5 foot tall real as day mickey walk by me, say hi to me when I was in high school on 5 tabs. lsd was always cartoony for me.. Ive had a few profound spiritual stuff happen on shrooms in high school. Never anything spiritual on lsd though. Dmt to me and it seems man others , is or can be a very spiritual experience , One would think, if dmt is just a drug and all people are different , then experiences would vary wildly yet its actually the opposite. Everyone has different experiences yet they are also very similar.

@@AdeptusPsychonautica I typically use psilocybin for bi weekly therapy sessions but hadn't been using any as I recently moved n was struggling to source material, shortly after my failed dmt experiences I was able to source some freshly dried cubensis...so I took a standard dose (1g) and felt nothing (typically even with a weak psilocybin experience during the digestion phase I feel light waves of energy n my perception of reality is altered) I then tried 2.5g and an meoi (75mg fb harmaline) and while I felt the meoi, my body had no reaction to the mushrooms I wasn't even yawning. So then I tried 5g and yet again experienced nothing (though my tolerance to cannabis seemed to drop temp and my ego was behaving as if it were on 1.2-1.5 mushrooms) I am lightly disturbed by this experience as I have been successfully dealing with my trauma and have been sorting my life out over the last few years with the aid of mushrooms. Came out very oily. Not doing this, it comes out way better. More light yellow, more powdery vs oily. And more strong

If we interact with them while on DMT, do they interact with us when they trip? 🙂 The stories of malevolent ones reminded me of a Buddhist book "Feeding your demons" describes the practice of chöd where I confront the icky thing (perhaps a childhood trauma that becomes personified) that scares me, not to battle it but to feed it myself until it is satisfied and transforms into an ally. I think this is based on the idea that it is something within my own being to begin with, rather than a separate parasite. The assumption that mental issues are "demons" has led to some very sad cases of people trying to be exorcists and caused actual harm, sometimes to kids. All the cases I encountered back when I was a fundamentalist Christian turned out to be classic manic/depressive bipolar folks that were trapped in a religious setting that expected magic answers to chemical imbalances in the brain. When doctors were able to help, all the thanks were lavished on that god instead, but that god did nothing until the docs intervened.

Yes I do wonder if these entites are manifestations of our own psyche that we can access - a sort of death-trip where our past and traumas are presented to us in various forms that we work through (and with). The Buddhist example is a great one, like shadow work, facing yourself and all of your dark personalities that manifest themselves in that dimension of sorts. I do believe there's something to "parasitic entities," but I'm not sure that DMT is the "cause" of it - rather it "shows" you your inner-mind - which is often what Mushrooms do, which of course is also a form of DMT. I worry about "smoking or vaping" DMT still, it seems the mushroom and plants are serving it to us in a more appropriate way, whereas so often I hear about the negative side of smoking DMT, where entities seem annoyed or tell people "they shouldn't be there" and that sort of thing.

I really like Aubrey Marcus's approach to this issue of possible detrimental entities as I don't believe you can be attached to if you are clear in yourself. I mean what does it matter, i've probably got 10 demons following me around, but if I heal myself then they will fall away. I don't go for the paranoid position of being fearful of something external, it's as if it takes away from the persons personal power. I also listened to Hamilton Souther who moved away from the astral wars scenario, fighting entities and battles, but very funny to listen to. I think he evolved into a different position about love which kind of dissolved everything.
@spiritlevelstudios
@spiritlevelstudios 2 жыл бұрын
Yeh I agree. Hamilton is onto it, although he always has new battle stories, usually with other jealous healers though right. Craving, attachment, aversion and resistance all lead to suffering, right. And yet being in a state of surrender and acceptance while under attack from entities is extremely difficult and possibly dangerous. I mean, the only motivation to act and react with either defence or attack, is fear right. If we maintained a loving and peaceful composure then we could save a lot of energy. Maybe all entities are teachers and related to our karma, who knows. There must be balance, but it would be foolish to assign more power to the dark sides than they actually hold.
@janetjacks3406
@janetjacks3406 2 жыл бұрын
@@spiritlevelstudios Yes Hamilton seems to be quite a dude, full of funny stories and I think has evolved the whole arena, perhaps this was his destiny. I am not sure I agree that attachment and the rest lead to suffering, which sounds like a Buddhist idea. You'd have to define suffering to start with. Suffering to me is when something has no meaning, that the person is out of touch with the meaning and also the feeling. Aubrey was interesting quite a few years ago and seemed to advocate complete surrender, but I like his attitude to this recently when he was talking about entities as teachers or just reflections of our wounds which is where they might take hold, which sounds like what you are saying and obviously wise not to give them too much power.

The vast echology of inteligence may be due when our brain neurons are out of air, our intestinal neurons (second brain with 500 million neurons) project its own memory data over our conscience, and our brain tries to reproduce these gut-brain data converting into brain data and the result is something from "another world". Our heart neurons also stores emotional memory and stimulates the brain's creativity, so emotions can really shape real life and entheogen experiences. So I never explore my inner universe without strong purpose, faith and courage. The flesh is weak and I don't trust guts anyway ;)

"We'd only do that with a shaman. We'd never do that with a white guy." I sure can't wait until people stop singling out the white race with all this undeserved negativity. Even though throughout history all races and cultures have done all the same evil acts, but we've got too many people pretending they were white things and only white people engaged in them. Also the term "As a person of color" and "people of color" excludes only one race and everyone else is a person of color. The implied idea is that white people have no color and are therefore lacking and lesser than people of color. White people are said to have stolen everything they have, enslaved the entire world, are the only rave capable of racism, have no culture at all and even lack a soul. I don't know how many people have heard that supposedly melanin in your skin is analogous to the midichlorians from Star Wars. The more you have, the better you are and the less you have the worse you are. I had a hard time believing it was real because it sounds like a parody but nope, it's very real. Not wanting someone to facilitate a ceremony because you're not the correct race is just stupid. There's no reason why it can't or shouldn't happen. Oh and the "cultural appropriation" bs that I'm quite sure some people would try to bring up needs to stop. No one race owns any culture. Culture is shared when different cultures interact. You can't copyright it for just one race to use. Besides, if your race came up with something that others wish to take part in why would you not be proud about it? You've created something that others find value in. Oh and again it's basically just one group that catches flak for the not at all real idea of cultural appropriation. I'm very much against racism and were a different race at the center of a worldwide dogpile my thoughts wouldn't change one bit.

I was doing "healing" journey's on my bed in silent darkness (grade 5 noise suppression ear muffs). Mainly using dried and dosed psilocybin, wild picked mushrooms. Was also using crystal dmt and sanpedro cactus but not on the bed "healing" journey's. The experiences started off positive, even nurturing, with perceived progress in "healing" my life and lifestyle issues. Then the experiences turned literally demonic, manifestation of demon archetype beings. Vomitting these things up and out, foam mouth, sulfur taste and smell and much more. Also trying to pull them out of my mouth. These manifestations became a constant theme and really very dark, in every experience on that bed in silent darkness. Something else was, I was getting alot of biblical content themes in the "spirit dimension". Like being a third person observer of conversations and narratives. Abraham and Jehovah and alot about angels, things I did not know about, as I don't have a christian background at all and had never opened a bible or been to a church. I would google these names to understand what I was experiencing. The experiences became very much a communication with angels and higher beings (which I now know as a huge deception) I have a prior history of practising vipassana meditation from age 30 to 37, so had that background seated in concentration of the mind and insight meditation techniques. (Which I eventually left and went back mainstream culture again for 10 years or so) On June 22nd 2019 (winter solstice) I was having another similar dark manifestation experience on my bed. Things went differently on this occasion. In a moment of surrender that night, personally knowing that I could not change myself by what I was trying to achieve, in the midst of more demonic attacks, a huge calm and stillness came over me. In that moment of quiet, a still quiet voice said simply this in truth, -- " to heal my heart I have to invite Jesus Christ into my life and heart ". I knew in that moment that Jesus is the truth, he is the son of God and an offer was being given me. So I did. With all my strength and heart I asked Jesus to help me and be my Lord over my life. I knew the healing that I was always trying to achieve through my life was in Jesus Christ. The great healer. The person of the bible. I knew I was a terrible sinner in sight of a Holy God. I repented for my sinning against Him. Alot happened that night. I started to pray a spiritual warfare prayer the next day which I found on google. Baptised 4 months later. I have been a christian and follower of Jesus Christ nearly 3 years now. (which I would never have thought I would be, at all!) My life has truly been healed and its not by my own works or self effort, but by surrendering to Jesus as my lord and saviour. Saviour from what? Saviour from being separated spiritually from our morally perfect and Holy Creator God. Who has written about Himself, through the hand of men in the bible. Read the Gospel of John to know the character of Christ. ESV bible translation app is free on your phone. Jesus spent a large part of his 3 years of ministry on earth casting demons out of afflicted people and physically healing them. The demons or evil spirits know who he is and tremble. The gates of hell will not prevail against the "good news" (Gospel) of Jesus Christ, who took the punishment for our sin on the cross, so we would not perish, but have eternal life. All you need to do is repent (heart decision to turn away from sinning) and take faith in Jesus Christ. You will have your sins forgiven - "healed" - and be born again a 2nd time, but this time a new creation by the spirit of God - a renewed mind and new heart. Its as real today as it has been the last 2000 years. 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 " for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light." The spirit realm is a massive deception keeping you away from your God and creator. Call on the name of Jesus and watch them flee. Jesus loves you and is waiting friends. IMHO

@@gunnerkobra agreed, the world's system and new age practices and beliefs are there to keep us away from the love and redemption found in Christ. Its so obvious and in plain sight. We want to be our own little gods and do it our way, pride before destruction. Hebrews chapter 9, verse 27: "its appointed for every person to die once and then the judgement" -- folks don't think themselves bad. But measured against Gods holy standard we all fall short of the glory of God. We wear dirty rags of sin, when justified by the righteousness of Jesus, we are imputed with the righteous robes of Christ -- our sin is covered by his sinlessness and obedience. Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil and save sinners like me. Oh yeah, the entities hate the name of the biblical person of Jesus Christ. Not some false new age representation of him. There will be a mounted attack against you, that means its real so pray and read the bible. They don't want to let you go but will flee. In my experience. From darkness to light. The darkness cannot stand in the glorious light of the messiah, the Son of God.

why is that everything not understood by religious people is "evil" or a "demon" .. If demons do exists , god created them , and wants them in his creation.

@@davienadams9446 I know all about the bible. went to church from age 1 to 15. christian school from 5 to 15. But about 10 I started to question it.. The age when many start to learn "common sense, rational thinking" . Jesus is irrelevant in creation and probably as real as Harry Potter. I think there is creator I just reject all religions. Humans are one step above chimps in intelligence so I highly doubt we can even can even grasp anything about creation and reality.. But if believing in ancient mythology makes you happy, go for it

I've been experimenting with DMT for over a year. Had some interesting visual experiences at first, but found it not possible to have a breakthrough experience. I had increasingly jarring experiences any time I went for a breakthrough dose which were disturbing at first, but after the shock wore off, I grew increasingly frustrated with the experience. I continued to enjoy sub-breakthrough experiences, but every time I tried for a journey beyond this realm I would have the strange, disturbing experience that I have never been able to describe accurately, but something similar to drowning in a cosmic soup or reaching the surface of the water and catching a breath when you were sure you were going to drown. I talked to people who also were denied a breakthrough and heard voices say that they weren't ready or something similar, but I hadn't gotten anything resembling even a rejection and finally went looking for some kind of explanation. And for a few attempts, it felt like I was negotiating with myself or whoever, whatever was preventing my journey. I started to sense that there had been some weird kind of mix up and I had a few times where I felt like I was given a full explanation, only I wasn't paying attention, like being a daydreaming student and realizing the teacher was calling on you for an answer, but you didn't hear the question. But despite missing the explanation it felt like something had been resolved and I approached the experience refreshed and relaxed and felt like I came so close to leaving this realm, but then something else happened and I'm not sure what that even was, but I essentially gave up on even trying. I started using it outdoors and communing with the forest spirits, dancing with the trees and having a grand old time with fucking crazy hallucinations that were very different than the geometric ones I'd had before. I was having a different experience than I'd been led to expect, but it was still great, only now the visuals have completely stopped. I feel a buzz, but no visuals whatsoever. Fuckin weird.

High dose sub breakthrough experiences have its benefits.. In these trips or on the downslope of breakthrough is when I seem to calmly interact / talk to things. Flying away is awesome too. For me more of a holy shit this is so beautiful moment vs interactions. One instance in particular,, I smoked a bunch, not my first trip that night. started out with brilliant mechanical geometry . started at a distance then came closer and closer. pressing in and in , I mentally could not take it. I opened my eyes , closed them again, nothing,, i was almost sober, and I was only a minute in.. I grabbed the pipe.. did 4 big hits.. laid back closed my eyes.. everything was darkish I could see pieces of what usulally make up the geometrical patterns ,, here and there.. it was like they peaking out of the shadows .. I heard wispering.. "hes scared,, we scared him, dont show yourselves" Just so low level.. Did 5 hits , again nothing major.. "they " wouldnt let me in.. I forced myself in after a bit.. I loaded the pipe.. took 8 or 9 huge hits .. no opening patterns , just shot straight out of my body , kept flying deeper and deeeper away into the abyss. All I can remember is saying over and over, thank you, thank you.. was so far away from being a human being , In a place very calm, sort of a gentle fluid morphing something was there.. No details remembered . Just remember that was the second most awesome place I ended up at on dmt.. The other I would describe as heaven. Even though I actually despise religions in general.. I was at a place that if I had to describe heaven it was that place.. But anyway after I forced my way in after they seemingly were blocking,, I had no calling or desire to do dmt for 8 months, despite having a couple grams . Just started doing it again..
