Battleguard: "I hate things where you have to be a certain distance, D Tier" Bloody Reach - a gem even more proximity-reliant. S-Tier. I mean, what? This list seems totally arbitrary. BG is good for squishy ranged classes since it guarantees Saders, Monks and Barbs have nerfered damage against you, it's basically a passive. Bloody Reach is so hard to always maintain that distance since every class has gap closers.

Pain of Subjugation is a rank S, or at the very least rank A for Wizard. So many of their skills revolve in CC. It is also much easier to proc the effect compared to Chip of Stoned Flesh. PS: I really think legendary gem tier list should be done per class. A shitty gem on one class can be very good on another.

Actually pain of subjugation is the only 1 star gem I'm using right now as a Wizard. Since most of Wizards' builds emphasize on the concept of "deal more damage to enemies under loss of control" because Wizards have a repertoire of loss of control skills which apply chilling, freezing, stun, immobilize, etc. This is very good for Wiz.

I prefer Berserkers eye for the 16% more damage and 2% crit rate increase at lvl 10. For my Wizard I go full on damage for everything from paragon to reforge stones. At level 10 berserkers eye gives awakening to nexus pants which gives 10% disintegrate damage. All of these add up together. I’m only 58k hp but 6.7k damage and I melt 85k hp players with laser and can kill 120k hp whales if they’re not aggressively attacking me.

On Wizard I build dot dmg with chip of the stoneflesh,seeping bile, endless torment and the Grace set. Does insane dmg, all of these stacked dot dmg and the stoneflesh explosion is i op when you gather enemies in the blackhole, drop meteor 2 tornados and fire disintegrate with 3 extra beams.

@@limeros88 I like the concept of Black Hole but I think Chip is too situational for me. I use Black Hole all the time especially in combo with disintegrate, but not so often to where chip would be so useful as say Berserkers or other hard damage gems. I might give it a try some day though since damage to me is everything. The best defense is a good offense.

Lighting Core has the same problem as P&C - no control on use. You can build it up and unleash it on a single mob. 20s is too long even for overworld farming and for a single target world boss you'll either get 0 or 1 hit in depending on last lightning strike. But that is not all, 20s is NOT the time between lighting attacks. 20s is the cooldown after a lightning strike AFTER which you start charging it up again. A WW barb takes 30-40s between lightning strikes Meh, C class at best

As a glorified lich, I work on my followers burden first. My lightning core is also handy, so I work on that a bit. I used hunger for a while while I was on my armor stats, pretty useful in the beginning imo. Imo, distance gems are a little useful... as long as it's distance away, and not close. Unity isn't useful bc while I do get hit, the dr just isn't good enough to take a slot. Used rose for a while, not a bad gem. Wreath sucks, I don't want my prey to run, as I do aoe/continuous with molten golem (changed my build after watching your lich vid). Sucks for explosions, too.

I agree with you about Mocking Laughter, I actually laughed out loud when you talked about it. Interesting note though, Barb taunt procs Chip gem and turns taunt into a stun. I wonder if the same is true from this gem. Doesn't justify it as a great gem, but fun to think about.

Echoing shade is also good at providing defense for ranged classes. I was a demon hunter and the echoing shade clones were great for blocking enemies in challenge rifts and path of blood so I could keep my distance.

As a DM main, berserk, carsen and conquer&command is ultra value gems. To the point that im quite hesitant to replace them with higher tier gem. Shaalbas and vithus build with those gems is godly. Plus the fact that they are low rank gems which means its eassier to get them to rank10 for awakening in case you wanna whale. Can totally see just doing some cash spending from time to time while not depending on it and this is the path i will take. I imagine this can take you till right before endgame where you actually optimize and minmax everything

Stone flesh and howler works perfectly on necromencer. You stunt in pvp with the wolf which allows you to freeze the player !

Blood Soaked Jade's text for it's damage is the same as Berserker's & follower's burden yet they work on summons, Pretty sure that it's a bug that they just aren't fixing considering blood soaked jade were also recommended on in game summoner build. Also really sucks that seeping bile still is bugged and doesn't apply by minions, necromancer really just isn't getting any love from blizzard especially since they didn't fix the bug on shepherd set but instead just removed the 60% damage part of it making the 6 set worse then the 4 set and 2 set bonus.

I need more explanation about Power and Command. If you are a Sader ramming and hitting people on a horse, does it mean you are doing primary and skill damage all at once? So Power and Command will be very good in these types of situation?

Power and command is way better then lightning core that only does some small numbers every 20 seconds and then you have to charge it aswell after those 20 seconds where as not only does P&C increase your damage to primary attacks at 20% but then changes to increasing your ability damage. Always always always is boosting some type of your damage. Not to mention every time it changes effect it has a change to dispel hostile/detrimental effects. For you to get a actual look at how these gems perform compared to others, you need to look at fully ranked gems as They all don’t say exactly what they do at every rank.

DM: Caarsen is a niche gem so B Tier (when it's absolutely a god tier gem for f2p DH and even monks/barbs) Also DM: Summons baby, easy S Tier!! Edit after finishing the video: Echoing shade has a description error, if you click on anyone's Echoing Shade in game, it says the clones gain some of their "attributes" and not their abilities. This is why clones only auto attack. This description was updated in the first couple weeks of the game's release.

Some testing results for necro: fang does not ramp up damage on summons, for example Lazer mages beams do not slowly ramp up damage as they continue to hit, your normal attacks only qualify for the damage boost not worth on Necro at all. Bloody reach does in fact apply to summon damage with increased ranges. Need to test torment with bile to confirm application but made the switch based on that. Tested bottles hope, does apply to summons on shield or maggot dark curse, while maggot dark curse doesn't give the procs to yourself, and does not apply to summons with wraith proc. Still debating if that makes it worth it or not on Necro...

Fear works well with cut throat gem because they will turn their back on you so it's good for demon hunters new legendary that gives them fear and with cut throat gives them insane crit chance also with Necro wraith fear

Lightning core is awesome especially on monk. And the deal % more damage after the lightning goes off goes even higher. Mine is rank 7 and it's at 9% more damage dealt Also I'd say cutthroat A tier for bosses..... F everywhere else

Have rank 4 3/5 howlers, bile and BSJ. Just got a 4 star BotW. It will not sell at all. I am a DH and find that despite being ok in PvP no one wants a DH that isn’t 3k reso. So wanna switch, but I’m more of a ranger guy. Wiz or Necro. But also don’t wanna have to change gems. P&C is rank 10 as is Carsten’s and Everlasting. What would be easier to switch to Wiz or Necro and can either use BotW. Don’t wanna use it for fodder lol. Is it worth the reso alone?

Ok im just at the battleguard gem and im already writing a comment. As a summoner necro i find this gem useless too, BUT its great in pvp to mitigate those pesky barbarians and monks. So, maybe just rename the video mentioning its PvE viewpoint, and then another from PvP viewpoint?

Try using 6 piece grace set and you will crit 100k. I crit 100k from time to time on my grace set effect and my reso is 890.

Mountebacks shield hits for 150k lol...try it out

@@twitchtherocket6192 You need to pass 2 RNGs on Mountebank's shield to proc that 150k damage. A chance to gain a shield and another chance to detonate the shield. May I add, mountebank's damage is X% based on your total HP (only monks, barbs, and crusaders get the most benefit out of it. Meanwhile, Grace only need one X% chance for it to proc that X damage. So statistically speaking, Grace is more convenient to use than mountebank's as the overall DPS per se.

3:32 wow, Almost made me stop watching the vid. Totally didn't expect that way of thinking. I chose survivability > damage any day (what good is damage when you're dead). Whale brain vs logical brain I guess. Imo, as a F2P, Battleguard is a must have, A+tier for the 3 Melee classes, B-tier for a (channeling)Wizard and then your D-tier for DH & Necro. edit: made it all the way through. It's not clear if these ratings are Class based, F2P based, PvP or Whale. (Well, Whales just run 6x 5* so...)

I'm no whale and I agree with what is said. Defense gems hold little value in both pve and pvp. In pvp its all about dmg and cc. In pve you should be kiting. I mained barb for 2 months and now I main monk instead. Dmg above all.

The issue isn't defense... staying alive to do more damage is good. The problem is the actual amount of defense given is garbage. They need to buff the stats on how much is being defended
