This one i feel is good all around, but definitely more for PVP specifically. Best part about monk is it can be built a TON of different ways and is a blast to play!

First of all, I want to appreciate your help and express gratitude for things you both do, they help a lot. I’ve tried using this build on pvp and, although was lucky, managed to get a whopping 24-0-6 stat. The shield of zen is a game changer and you are right - this skill is beneficial throughout the game. But I will drop a pound of mud into this feast. I don’t want to sound rude, but in PVE this build sucks. Specifically emphasising stun skill. It’s pretty much useless in PVE, because weaker mobs die in a second, and stronger mobs have control immunity. It’s a bad AOE, that can be useful only when you’re surrounded and want to get away. But then again, monks have other skills for that. There’s cyclone strike, that can be vortex that just sticks all the monsters to you. There’s also a flame palm that I use, I’ve switched it to frozen palm and it explodes on death - making packs of mobs fall like a domino. There’s a bell, there’s also mystic allies, which I use specifically against dungeon bosses - I don’t understand why you would use a stun skill instead of any of these, especially when the owner says he tried every build. It’s just impossible to have even nearly amount of kills compared to what other skills are capable of. Just my personal experience, I’m not a whale tho.

I completely understand where you’re coming from. Probably could have done a two part series with a solid PVE strictly DPS build. However, that being said, he was introduced as being the #1 monk on the server which has to mean either PVP or challenge rift cause there’s no such designation for PVE world farming like your referring to. As an f2p monk player (which means i don't have much resources in the game that would make my character a beast), i think the most balanced, most effective build of the monk is the one that i'm currently using. After constantly doing mix-and-match and trying each set to PVE (and sometimes PVP), i think i discovered the perfect combination that could fit in any situation. This is not about paragons, gems and whatever add-ons there are, although they really serve as buffs. It's more about the set of primary equipments and skills. This build can ambush without being in serious danger. It can stealth attack regular mobs or even bunch of rare enemies, but it can also escape from life-threatening situations. Of course, it still depends on how you play. Fun part of this game is that there are many variables that affect your gameplay. Anyway, you might wanna try this. Equipments: Pensive Crown (head) Breath of Incense (body) Discipline's Weight (shoulders) Companion's Melody (feet) Spirit's Reach (main hand) Reaching Rebuke (off-hand) Skills: 1. Fists of Thunder - short range teleport enables you to strike anyone within your perimeter 2. Exploding Palm - you can jump right in the middle of mobs or you can also escape from them. Your monk moves slow with no add-ons, but you are mobile with this kind of exploding palm. Attack and escape in one skill. 3. Shield of Zen - you need protection during battles and monk is not a tank like the Crusader or Barbarian. No matter how powerful your skills are, if the enemy can one-shot you then it's no good. Pensive Crown prolongs your shield. 4. Seven Sided Strike - this is your main offense. The key here is you put everything in it to amplify its effect. With the use of Spirit's Reach, you're basically throwing human projectiles all around. With Breath of Incense, those that you landed on with exploding palm will be triggered by your seven sided strike. Discipline's Weight increases the damage by 10%. 5. Mystic Allies - or kagebunshin literally. They have 100% of your life and they perform skills while fighting so they're like separate characters at your aid. You're a little like a Necromancer and all of you three are like a party. So the longer they stay, the better. That's what Companion's Melody does. If you could gain bonuses that will further extend their duration, much better. Now this whole set may not give the most badass looking combo, or the most badass looking skin. But it's balanced and efficient. The sequence is Exploding Palm on mobs first (or bosses), then Shield of Zen, then SSS. To test its efficiency, observe how often you need potions and how often you need to summon Mystic Allies. Usually, EP and SSS added with regular attacks are enough to take down mobs.

I love this series, it's a lot of work to stay on top of your main character's builds and tips so it's good to see a fast presentation related to other classes, now I know how to strategize with my monk clan mates in pvp and take full advantage of their kit.

Cool convo and nice vid. As a monk main, I can't agree with choice of mystic strike though. He should be using flying kick. His offhand legendary does nothing in this build, but with spokes of the wheel, he could trigger a 10% global dmg buff every time he uses flying kick. I personally feel it allows you to control enemies and escape in pvp a lot better than mystic strike, as well.

Flying kick is slower and doesn’t travel far enough mystic strike is better at pvp also can pull one enemy out of a group toward you

I'm the #2 monk currently in my server. I really like your build and mine is similar but I run intervening law for a teleport and group shield and swap out mystic strike for cyclone strike. Cyclone strike I'd so slept on for monks. Nobody ever expects it in pvp. And I use the off hand that increases the radius of cyclone. It makes it easy to group up enemies and hit them all with the uppercut imprisonment fist that procs chip stone.

There is a chest piece skill that turns cyclone strike into a tornado which actually combos with the main hand SSS burning damage. Your cyclone strike has a 100% crit rate on burning enemies. Edit: Correction it's not a 100% crit chance bonus. It's a 50% increased damage bonus. There was confusion due to both showing up in orange damage numbers. It's still a HUGE damage boost. Wizards have a very similar combo that procs the same thing.

The chest he showed is BiS for pvp but for pve it is not. I also don't run zen for pve content either. There's no content where it's needed. I'd rather use a damage skill over any buff or shield in pve.

In pve if you aren't running an aoe skill in every slot you are missing out on dps. I've cleared upto CR 94. The build he's showing won't get you near that. I definitely would call his build the best monk build. I still love your content though. Keep it coming sir.

For pve I like to use issitar set for speed increase. Exploding palm , 7 sided strike (runic circle), cyclone strike (vortex tornado) and mystic strike. You can play around with the inherits. There's a few things you change up but, this build is the quickest for normal mobs and large groups that ive seen. I Switch out X palm for mystic ally on high hp boss's. I've been looking for a good pvp build and I'm definitely going to try this out. I need to get the set pieces and legendary gems though.

I prefer using shield of zen as damage. You can make it burst for 7000 damage every second for 6 seconds and you can apply it on a party member. So attach it to a warrior and your doing 14,000 damage a second PASSIVE. Because while it's going off you can auto and use other skills. When you change it to burst it does same damage if not more than seven sided strike. It's a must for me.

Damage isn't everything. If your dead you have no passive dmg. Zen is literally a get out of jail free card every 9 seconds. That's way more important than more damage in my opinion. As we all know opinions are like buttholes. We all got one so it is what it is lol.

@@Finch08 lol I'm a monk with 55k HP at only paragon level 55... I've yet to die in pve diablo with over 100 hours of gameplay. Yes I do pvp and I die only 2-3 times a match while I get 20+ kills every game. Not to mention paragon skills that let you cheat death for pve and pvp.... I'm basically getting S ratings on every dungeon and pvp match. I'll stick to my God tier build. My get out of jail free card is my Phoenix ashes gem and my cheat deaths.... I like to think I have a better build than what was shown due to my gems and passes and my paragon tree. 2 of my skills activate 2 of my gems at the same time giving me 20% increase damage and 10% increase speed and my seven sided strike and my inner circle give me 10% reduced damage each. Then if my power and command is going in my favor it's actually 30% increase damage with 10% increase speed and 10% decreased damage, plus my legendary armor has % reduced damage so its closer to 15%.... yeah I like my build.

@@TheParallelSound We all have different styles of play. If that works for you and you like it go ham. I was just giving an opinion is all. I ment no offense. I personally play a more supporting role and don't care if I get kills or not. I'm just as happy with 50 assists and a win than 50 kills and a loss not that that's the only outcome. Im just saying I just prefer to be a team player and help my team not be the all star on the team which I could be with the money Ive spent on this game. I'm a support main in mobas so that playstyle just matches me I guess lol.

@@Finch08 my abilities are support as inner circle gives all allies a shield and my attacks and skills lower enemy damage done to allies.... I play both support and tank. I don't have a single damage gem on my left side of equipment it's all rubies for health or armor/resistance. My damage is only 3.2k and my hp is 55k so clearly I'm a massive tank/support as I could easily swap for damage gems and get bellow 50k hp and near 4k damage but I don't do that. Going with so much HP and defense allows me to kill everyone because when pvp enemies see my HP at 30% that's still 50% of their health. It's kind of baiting people when you build nothing but HP. And when I do drop to 0 HP I get a fat shield and a heal...

His build is for solo monk, but what my play style are similar as you. I use the stun circle and flying dragon as well for cc. This is a team monk which do a lot of cc but it hard to run away that compare with his solo build.

Instead of dashing strike I like exploding palm with 3 charges with the legendary that makes you leap into the air

I think most is right but I use seven sided strike with runic circle, imprisoned fist is the same with upward and stun, mystic strike and flying kick for the 10% dmg buff in pvp. Lots of ways to escape death and fists of thunder

Subscribed (sorry kinda late). Watched alot of your channel since MFR, and i must admit, your doing it great Darth. Thumbs up. In terms of Monk, a few quick notes. Weapon wise along with Shield of Zen for PvP, is the teleport version (instead of Fire Seven Sided Strike), as this gives your entire team a shield. Very bonkers for PvP if thats your thing. Legendary gem wise, more leaned for F2P, i would suggest (in general); Chained Death, Berserker, and Respite Stone (dmg reduction is great, even while kiting). Pain of subjagation for dmg against CC is pretty good to.

A top ranked monk PvP leader needs to stick with PvP advice. I'll argue, this guy puts too much faith and reliance in Shield of Zen. Shield isn't at all necessary in PvE farming, PvE raids, or Elder rifts, where you'll already get massive life and armor from your gems, with buffs from fellow players, and constant health globe drops. Just replace the shield with pure DPS for your PvE build. Sure, Shield of Zen can have a damage essence mod, but it won't match the DPS output of other options, the training dummy will prove as much. Shield of Zen is only mandatory in PvP. I listened to this guy for PvP build ideas, but he lost me when saying all his builds include Shield of Zen... Don't trade your damage output for a bubble skill in a PvE build.

@@ArgiMarcin Fist of thunder Inner sanctuary (solace of the peaks helm) lego makes it area of effect with chill damage. (Respite sigh ofhand) 30% increase duration for a longer chill and damage. Cyclone strike (storm spirit chest) makes it a tornado that does aoe to enemies around it. (Path of the storm pants) 20% dmg reduction. 7 sided strike (spirit's reach main hand) ground aoe dmg to all inside of it. Wave of light (radiant sun shoulders) summons a bell that does aoe.... If all are stacked on a group... it's overkill. But I mainly kite around dropping things as I get chased. With new patch I got the torn set for free. First set bonus gives continuous, channeled and persistent ground dmg by 15%. Which is awesome. Hard part is mobility but I use fist of thunder to kinda dash out. Mainly used it to survive challenge rifts, kite, try not to get hit and stack moves on groups.
