Could you do one of a DMU from Whitby West Cliff to Scarborough
@NorthYorkshireCoastRail3 жыл бұрын
I've only built as far as Ravenscar and apart from around stations the scenery is incomplete, I'm putting a quick video together to show progress so far and I've used a DMU for you

Thanks very much, Mark, looking forward to watching it, I lived in Scarborough many years ago, but never got to ride on the last train from Whitby to Scarborough

Outstanding. Exactly what is needed for any aficionado of the Whitby-Loftus line.

Onthegoldenline, I did this in 1957 behind 80116 Wish it was still possible.

How on earth did you recreate this so accurately? That is totally unbelievable! Its almost like you got into your Delorean and went back to 1960. really unbeievable. That must've taken some work.
@NorthYorkshireCoastRail7 жыл бұрын
It did take a while, Basically by finding old pictures and trying to recreate what i could see within the limitations of the sim and with the buildings available, Whitby abbey for example was made by putting together lots of resized bridges and viaducts, I'd have loved to have traveled this route for real so this is the next best thing I suppose

risvegliato the National Library of Scotland has many old Ordnance Survey maps online. The smaller scale maps will give the modeller (in whatever format all the information they need about the relative positions of buildings etc. If you subscribed to Templot, a model railway track design software package also has access to these maps, to a smaller scale then currently general available on the NLS website. In addition to these, there is also the signalbox.co.uk website which has hundreds of signal box diagrams.

These simulations are outstanding. Rain on the windscreen with the wipers? Very, very creative!

I watched this when I was researching my latest video on the Scarborough & Whitby Railway. I hadn't realised you created it, Mark - great effort! I've added a link to it in my video's description.

Absolutely superb. I've become completely engrossed by the history of this line, and this is a great visualisation of it.

What game is this? Also, you might want to fix the aspect ratio, video looks a bit squeezed.
@stevejones97403 жыл бұрын
Outstanding. You even included a glimpse of the gasholders at the Batts Gas Works. Brilliant. Would it be possible to show the reversing manoeuvre used by trains leaving Whitby Town Station for Scarborough via Prospect Hill junction and the West Cliff Station?

The bridge you see at the end of the video still exists, but it is actually private property now, owned by the house on the right. They grassed over the bridge and is it now a garden! Funny thing about the bridge is you cannot go underneath it as it is blocked with steel. Nothing weird about this at first - but it is public land on BOTH sides hence it is perfectly legal to walk from one side to the other, a 10 minute walk!
