Günter M. Ziegler: Vortrag anlässlich "500 Jahre Dürer's Melencolia"

Vor 500 Jahren schuf Albrecht Dürer seine drei berühmten "Meisterstiche", darunter den Kupferstich "MELENCOLIA I". Dieses Jubiläum wurde am 17. Mai 2014 mit einer Konferenz "500 Years of Melancholia in Mathematics" in New York gefeiert. Aus diesem Anlass sprach Günter M. Ziegler, Professor für Diskrete Geometrie an der Freien Universität Berlin, über den Polyeder in der "MELENCOLIA I". Hier sehen Sie eine Voraufzeichnung seines Vortrags mit dem Titel "Three Giants, Five Stars, Some Mistakes: Leonardo, Dürer, Kepler, and their Polyhedra" (auf Englisch).
500 years ago Albrecht Dürer formed his three famous "Meisterstiche", amongst them the copper engraving "Melencolia I". This anniversary has been celebrated on May 17th, 2014 with a converence "500 Years of Melancholia in Mathematics" in New York. For this celebration, Günter M. Ziegler, Professor for Discrete Geometry at Free University Berlin, gave the talk shown in the video on the Polyhedron shown in the "Melencolia I". Leonardo Da Vinci didn't draw it wrong, it is based on the Pseudorhombicuboctahedron. The three sided pyramids at the bottom can be seen at the left and the right. The one at the center is four sided.

Die Kenntnis der italienischen Sprache ist nicht unbedingt notwendig, aber die größten Kunstwissenschaftler wissen sehr wohl, dass es wichtig ist, die Geschichte der Kunst zu kennen. Ich glaube, dass dies keine Themen sind, die seine Person beeinflussen könnten.
