i just got back from a week of camping there and me dad broke two cvs one in a bog hole and one on a hill climb that his mate needed a locker for and there was a lot more water aswell

Very interesting test! I don't think the tire size and width played any role here, the skinnies on the 47 perfectly did their job when on the ground. It's the shorter wheel base of the 42 that allowed faster mass transfer between the rear and the front so you always had an axle firmly on the ground (and also why you took crazy angles), while the 47 with the longer wheel base tends to stay horizontal and finds itself with 2 diagonal wheels off the ground.

As a LR series driver allow me to say "if you ain't got the equipment(diff locks etc), you better have the skillset!". 😁 It'd be interesting comparing them again but on the same muddies.
