I grew up listening to him n my grandpa heard me listening to him n was like ... nah... took the cassette. Still never knew where it went. But I still found ways to listen to him. I been listening to this man since I was 10. I'm 31 now. Honestly I probably shouldn't have been listening to " its dark and hell is hot" when I was 10 but... even so. I related even then. My stepson likes some good music I underrated... but I put him on to X about a year ago , n it actually hurt me to know he wasn't really getting it. He messaged me yesterday n told me he hears it different now. I didn't get mad . It just hurt. Cus what tf does it take for someone to actually care enough to dissect the message to even really get it? Oh he's gone now? Now u wanna listen? .... now u get it? I can't help but be upset." Often my words fall on deaf ears . I be talkin to a mf , he be setting right here!... I be like where u goin , he be like yeah. "

X has been around through my childhood. It feels like someone died in my family. It hurts badly. Just know now he's not suffering. No more crying. He's going to see the King.

I remember being in the 4th grade watching this video on MTV in the mornings before school. One of my favorite DMX tracks and first rap album I ever got was this one - RIP to one of the greatest!

benjamin green why might that be? Lol did you even listen to the song? It’s been a persistent war on the black community that you want to contribute to. We know that the circumstances more or less make the person. We know that you aren’t that different either. We know people make people look bad to make themselves feel good. You know you made a dysfunctional ignorant ass comment that don’t fit the original post.

The energy in this song is off the chain. You truly feel this man’s emotions in this song. There are not too many artists that when they rap or sing their pain resonates with you.
