Wisdom panel 3.0 is awesome, dead on, and it shows percentages as well as all the other things mentioned. I found an 8 week old puppy that I swore was golden retriever and Nope, not one drop. 37.5% Siberian Husky 25% Collie 12.5% Alaskan Malamute 12.5% Chinese Shar-Pei 12.5% Labrador Retriever

I recently gave my dog the Wisdom Panel DNA test and I was happy to see the my Cooper is 100% Golden Retriever!! When we bought him, the Breeder was supposed to give us his papers stating his breed and they flaked on us. I was so excited to find this DNA kit for dogs. Thanks!!

I used Embark on my rescue puppy I got from the humane society and she came back what we suspected in the first place. 33% Australian Cattle Dog, 22% Labrador Retriever, 13% German Shepard. She also had Great Pyrenees and Rottweiler which I wasn't expecting. I couldn't afford the health and trait option but hopefully I can upgrade soon.

Yes with mixed breed dogs there are often surprises. Your rescue puppy sounds like she has an interesting heritage.

I don't like wisdom they put chow chow in to many dogs

yeny torres I’ve ran 6 tests with wisdom and 4 dogs have come back with chow chow in them. None of the dogs are related and I thought that was a strange coincidence.

First used Wisdom Panel several years ago on our two dogs. What was interesting is that both came back with Labrador Retriever. One of the dogs looks and behaves just like a plott hound. She came back as harrier and lab and some other, smaller, dog. We think that her sample was either mixed or someone used a dart board. Our other dog was a couple parts beagle, some lab, and some other dogs. Probably closer based on his behavior, looks, etc. Just a couple of weeks ago our neighbors gave us a Wisdom Panel kit that they'd be unable to use, and that we could use for our new dog. Just got the results and they have her as 100% beagle going back to her great-grandparents. Some of the beagle traits are not what one usually sees at the big dog shows for beagles, and we originally though that she might have some dachshund in her. If that's the case, then it's several generations back. Bottom line is that we use(d) the panel results as a conversation piece, and that's about it.

Hi, I have a 1-year-old dog that we are not too sure of the breed, we think he is a harrier cross but not to sure what. We are going to get a wisdom DNA done next month just curious what your Harrier Lab cross looks like? imgur.com/a/70jzNcs here is what Ridley look like

I've done two tests with Wisdom Panel. The 1st was for my dog, Boscoe who seemed to be VERY responsive to positive reinforcement VERYnon-responsive to any type of negative reinforcement. I found out that he was 50% Golden Retriever (he looks NOTHING like a Goldy), 12.5% GSD, 12.5% Hungarian Viszla, and 25% Belgian Malnous. He looks more like a Viszla but has the coloring and temperament of the Belgian....which explained a lot!

I did Wisdom and it's cool to see that it's probably accurate. I couldn't afford to try multiple tests to compare results.

If you look at the results now online have they been updated? It would be interesting to see if they update the info after a few years.

@@Homeskooling4Dogs she's 1/4 gsd. 1/4 AmStaff terrier. Then 4 breeding groups (guard, herding, middle eastern African, Asian) hoping embark will shine more light on the breed groups. She looks like a dutch shepherd with the about of a pit. So, I was fairly close in my guessing

What are you thoughts on wisdom panel DNA testing? As my rescue came back as presa canario and amstaff mix (24 inches and 85 pounds - very lean). But they have since sent me an email explaining that the Apbt is not a recognised breed so they use the closest relation. E.g. amstaff. No idea if that means she is half amstaff or she is half apbt? Would love your thoughts on this. They didn't have the APBT on their database at the time she was tested but they do now. Thank you.

A trusted source for breed information is Desmond Morris Dogs The Ultimate Dictionary of Over 1000 Breeds. amzn.to/2E35m5r "The American Staffordshire Terrier (AmStaff) is the show-dog version of the American Pet Bull Terrier. "the American Pit Bull Terrier and the American Staffordshire Terrier - are virtually the same animal," with small differences. I think the line "a difference without distinction" would apply in this situation.
@PixieoftheWood2 жыл бұрын
That probably can't be determined by DNA. The only reason 'american staffordshire terrier' exists as a breed is because the AKC said they'd never accept the American Pitbull Terrier, because they didn't want their breeder registries to be used for dog fighting. The American Staffordshire Terrier was a 'new breed' created to skirt those rules, though some of the dogs that would later be registered as American Staffordshire Terriers were already registered under the UKC as American Pitbull Terriers. Technically, the only difference is that since the American Staffordshire Terrier is registered under the AKC, they have to conform to the breed standard, where American Pitbull Terriers can deviate from the normal size range without losing their classification as an APBT.

@@PixieoftheWood thank you, weird that I had a retest and it cane back as both amstaff and apbt? What's your thoughts as obviously they have both DNA's as separate
@PixieoftheWood2 жыл бұрын
@@connorgrant1220 I'm not sure how they could accurately do that. Unless they know genetic markers that would mark a particular pitbull as having a trait within 'show standards' for an amstaff, or maybe some genetic markers common to lines that are known as amstaff lines, or maybe they're just making those percentages up to make customers happy who complain about not knowing 'what *kind* of pitbull'. I do know there is some level of guesswork, after all, and some people who do multiple tests get different results due to that guesswork.
@connorgrant12202 жыл бұрын
@@PixieoftheWood funny you say that because I've done 2 tests on the same dog over the last 1 year period and the results have come back completely different. When I've contacted them explaining that I've spent over £200 on tests with different results they just ignore me

Hi. Have you ever tried the dna test called - dna my dog. If so wondering what you thought of them
@Homeskooling4Dogs5 жыл бұрын
No I have not used their test. Looking over their website it listed far fewer breeds tested for then the Wisdom Panel or the Embark tests. Both Wisdom and Embark get good reviews from Tufts University.

Yes I have tried this test. It was 100% accurate. I used it to test a mix breed and I knew what it was mixed with. It gave me the results I expected.

I had Wisdom Panel on my dog. I live in Mexico. The company stated she had 12.5% of Chow Chow. There are practically NO chows here. She looks nothing like a chow. Would very much doubt this result. The other %'s results appear correct.

In over the fifty years that I have been here in this rather small area of Mexico have never seen a Chow Chow. Also, if an ex-pat lived here it sure would not been in the street. Thank you for your reply. Guess I would have rethink her heritage. States she has 12% of that breed.
