DNA Painter: Color Segments Using Ancestry DNA SideView

You mention you'd like to see 23andMe's data imported to DNA painter, but I thought they already had that option on DNA painter? I've had my 23andMe chromosome data uploaded to DNA painter for a while now, so for example on DNA painter I can see that the Scandinavian segments from 23andMe overlap with my DNA matches who I share recent Danish and Swedish ancestors with. I'm pretty sure that's why DNA painter rolled out the Ancestry SideView instructions so fast. Or am I misunderstanding what you were talking about?

To import to DNA painter, you need segment data. Ancestry does not provide segment data.

What did you use top open the file & what did you use to Create the spreadsheet ?

Yes, but what you will find is that 23andMe chunks up your DNA into more admixture segments, while Ancestry tends to assign full chromosomes to a particular ancestry.

No. It helps you see what possible segments of your DNA may have originated from regions around the world that others in a reference population share.

MyHeritage is very confusing but it lets you compare yourself with other matches but doesn't tell you how you're related - It only gives you the CM percentage That's why I don't have an account there anymore

My Heritage has Theory of Family Relativity which does a really good job of identifying how you may be related. But it is dependent on both you and your match having a decent enough tree that MyHeritage algorithm can splice them together with other records.
