@@DNAMobileGaming 300 degrees should be good, thats what i do. up to 330, but if yours is set to 300 then maybe want to look at a new iron, but its sounds like some new soldering hardware has helped

I agree these look like too cold of joints however for those reading in the future, something to consider if using lead-free solder is that lead-free (silver solder) is going to be more dull than a lead solder joint. It also require a bump in temp of around 30ish deg compared to leaded solder. If you're struggling, you're not alone, lead-free solder can take a LONG time master. Be patient and practice on stuff destined for the landfill, may as well practice on it before it heads to the dump!

I have no soldered 6 Switches successfully 4 Lite models and 2 normal models. I'm no professional but I will be sharing how a beginner can do this with a steady hand soon. I also soldered a cool modification to my New 3DS XL last night as well no problems because of the correct tools.

Yes I did it myself without a microscope but I did without prior soldering skills, but I actually looked at about 20 hrs of tutorials before I tried lol you definitely to have good eyes and steady hands and try not to burn the solder.. also keep a toothbrush and alcohol handy and keep your soldering iron at a steady temp. (I touch the damp sponge to cool it a bit and keep that iron clean!!!)

I've messed up a PS3 HDMI port and an Xbox one Controller attempting to Solder. Definitely is tough, but at the same time it feels rewarding to do something yourself. I switched my Vita OLED's screen and it now works like a charm. I'll watch some tutorials on Soldering and attempt this.

Yeah this was my second Switch Lite at the time I attempted but now I've done 5 total Lites successfully and 2 regular consoles. The only SCARY part is the CMB capacitors near the GPU if you mess them up then your switch is basically toast cakes.

@@tkdgamerdavid oh the V1/V2 was where I thought it was easier I shared a trick for soldering to those capacitors as well using some Kapton tape to cover the other capacitors and hold down the cable. Well I suck at soldering, not that I can't advance my soldering skills but I was able to do it and got it working to the point where I bought more Switch Lites and more of these mods to try to do it with professionally as I've learned a few techniques the last few days for soldering. SO OLED yes heard it's harder, maybe I'll try it. The Lite however is supposed to be the easiest with this new kit now.

I think the type of solder you used was poor. I use 300c with Kester 44 solder and the temp is sufficient.

Oh it sure was poor I got new solder Towot SW-0850H with a tiny bit of lead and 1.8% flux. I sometimes don't even need to use flux anymore because of it. When I shared this I was just learning now I've successfully nicely soldered a dozen Switches.

There's 3 chips one for each Switch model. Now if you mean variants of the Pico chip yes there's old ones and this one which is the easier to install and more reliable. I can vouch for this as my kids use their Switch Lites a lot and it still works to this day knock on wood.

Mr. DNA makes everything look easy. Soldering this mod chip is not even close to easy. If you even mess up the smallest bit, you're Switch is fried. I would NOT attempt this if you don't have much experience with soldering. There are people who you can pay to do the whole hacking process, who solder the chip on and hack it all for you, but it's like $130. If I were you, just simply buy a used version 1 Switch for much cheaper, and hack that one instead.

Should be a right angled board with a yellow flex cable and another black cable. Only the lite will have the yellow cable so look for that.

Oh it looks like you got the answer also the thumbnail has a pic of it too on the right. Just search HWFLY Lite on AliExpress. The chip with the yellow cable is the one you want, they change the name of it a lot probably for obvious reasons.

@@DNAMobileGaming I'm pretty sure this isn't actually the HWFLY, but it's the Pico Fly (Lite). You can tell by the Rapsberry Pi logo on one of the chips on the black modchip board. Sellers on Aliexpress often put HWFLY in the name purely so people will find it when they search for the other one.

Hey man, just wanted to make a comment on your soldering. When you solder to the pads, you should really be using a flat or chisel tip soldering iron, you're going to get much better contact with the pads that way. You look like you're just gently touching the solder, and that is not going to make the solder flow nicely onto the pad. The solder flows to where heat is, so you need to heat the pad. Finally, I'm not sure if you're using it already or not, but get flux core solder - that'll make everything go a lot smoother. You still did a great job though, I'll be following this tutorial to mod my switch!

Hey thank you for the tips, I actually watched a lot and researched a lot more after doing this video and have now successfully hacked 7 consoles 5 Lites and 2 regular. My wick was really old during this guide too, so I did get some resin core plus new tips. The tips I got that actually work really nice are rounded I have the chisel style ones too but I couldn't wrap my brain around them. There's plenty you can do like play backups of games, install all of your games rather than having to cycle through multiple games carts, backup saves files, give your device a new look with custom themes, overclock your device, crank up the resolution on some games and more

Like from a technical standpoint, it makes no sense. It's JUST an android device without android on it. Meaning it can be jailbroken....because every android device can be jailbroken

Well no it's not an Android device it utilizes some Android drivers but Splintendo uses a proprietary operating system that was derived front the 3DS lol. Android sure can be out on it but it's not Android based. The reason nobody has created a hack yet is because of how locked down Nintendo Switch Online is and trying to bypass that aspect is extremely different. Not saying it won't happen maybe the Switch 2.0 will change this but this is the easiest method to date

I don't know if it's the soldering iron or the solder wire or the flux, but that was not properly soldered down. The solder should really shine, something that you used is very bad quality but im not sure what.😢 But it did work. 🤠

I'm not using any accounts with my emmuc. From what I found online so as long as you block the eShop and don't go online with certain games everything is completely safe. I have never had my old switch banned either following these rules and I did that many years ago.

If you have soldering skills, otherwise it's not a easy first time job but I learn quick with stuff like this and only wrecked my first Lite because I didn't have a microscope and patience.

No you need to solder it, I think what I said was to tape down the flex cable while soldering so it doesn't move lol

you should probably get solder that has 40% flux, thats probably why your solder was turning into balls and in general not flowing smoothly onto the joints

Well I shared a guide that will help but make sure you have a micro scope, good solder, a brash sponge yo clean your tip, tip tinner, and a decent solder iron. Plus all of this and patience, you could succeed. I've now successfully done over a dozen SW Lites and a handful of regular Switches with full success rates. You could even test your soldering skills on some garbage electronics as well.

You don't that's only for the V1 unpatched Switch this is a mod chip. I used to own a V1 the jig method was annoying so I searched out alternative methods. I've now modded 4 Lites and 2 Switch's with the pick Pico kit.

If you have no knowledge or know how then surely you could buy an already hacked Switch however I buy Switch Lites for cheap and the module doesn't cost that much it's just all time and patience. But once hacked the Switch Lite is definitely worth double the price.
