I was triggered when Panic realized there was something in his guitar. Flashbacks to spending a half an hour shaking, twisting, and turning my acoustic to try and get a dropped pick out of it, failing, and then leaving it in there, jangling and popping, until I changed the strings a month later. And then spending another half an hour trying to reach it with my hand. Dropping picks inside a guitar is no laughing matter. Taka is 100% right about the mage hand thing.

I have doubts as there's more than just that possibility. Could be wife/gf with a variety of scenarios such as a Mr./Mrs. Smith one. Could be a sister or another relative. Just room for doubt.

Redflametrow, aye, there is still room for doubt, it just seems there are only a few ways one can interpret "She made me, but she doesn't want me." It also works as a reasonable explanation why Panic knows so little about tieflings in general if he mother was never around. I know we haven't heard much about his father, but my basic understanding is that humans and tieflings can have children together and those children tend to be tieflings due to the demonic influence.

Joseph Perez That line does make it sound like mother. Just there can be weird things. There's a chance he was somehow created and not born. I don't know all the possibilities in D&D, but we even have a tiefling made by a god here. So he could have been made or altered in some weird way. We've seen people turned to dogs, so a lot is possible. Honestly "made" is a weird word. Humans would say give birth. So if he were a tiefling raised by humans, he'd be more likely to say gave birth. Maybe it's a way to conceal it from the audience, or it could be a way to phrase another possibility. That could work or he could have just been abandoned in general. A sister yet again kinda works if he were abandoned as a child and raised by his sister. Just the "made" line seems harder to understand with a sister. He could even be a form of necromancy. Maybe someone lost their son/husband/brother and tried raising them from the dead. He could have woken up with no memories. Thus they left due to grief yet they still created him. So yeah, likely a mother character but I'd still only put at 90% odds. Just because it is a story which is supposed to be interesting, the odds of the less likely thing are higher than if this were written to be straightforward. Just no way to express those odds without a larger sample of their work.

After reading the few reactions in the comments and resuming my own opinion on the fiasco that happened, Gaijin had mentionned Task is the party leader almost, he really shouldn't be. He's a basic rookie soldier with a temper and a greed more important than reason and patience, like Greckles and Panic. The situation would have had a better ending if the party had discussed the plan of operations after coming back from the Woodlands. They shortly did mention wanting to go back to an Orun's temple and/or Brork, and instead had a field trip in the underbelly of Alivast when it was not a priority. That doesn't completely absolve Greckles of his moment of cowardice in the library, especially when he knew from Solly's mouth that she felt like a puppet, and to this episode, still hadn't gained much of any agency back, but the main vector for the story to take that direction was Task. And it's a shame because Monty does construct her world in a way where she drops hints and lessons to be taken for the group and the group just misinterprets them or forgets them.

1. do you think they expected this to happen or had any idea it would? 2. Greckles has on many occasions not to force Solly into things, if she didnt want to go to Brork yet she probably would of asked for a little more time, thus this situation. 3. remember they did discuss a bit BUT, there's atleast a week between each episode and that they are human, they forget things or misalign their priorities vs their characters or the plot's priorities. 4. they have had many stressful situations in quick succession without any real time to progress it. between actually finding out about Ginter's Folly, remeeting Solly, losing his helmet, the whole dog zone situation, finding out more about how the orun zealots works and them chasing, and being punished for something they really could of control. all that in quick succession would wear down anyone's patience.

@@VeenanNorvius 1. that's why you take notes when you play a game, to remember shifty situations or words said by an NPC like these, however trivial it seems to you or your party. Though personally I thought Monty's hints were very much sufficient. 2. see my first point. Plus considering Solly's assertiveness level being at 0 at the moment in this campaign, except for dropping a hint, she still is not part of the team and ultimately not bossy enough like Helga to make a statement to them about how urgent she felt it was to go see Brorck 3. see my first point. Again I cannot emphasize enough how note taking is important when playing a game. 4. The game characters might be under stress in the game, the players however have plenty of time to talk between games and exchange on their notes and what they should consider to do next. We are fortunate enough to (almost) all have a phone and some internet access, communication nowadays is not a privilege. Plus taking the chase as a point really reinforces why it's important to take notes, again, and communicating with your team. The helmet is of an Orun armor, which Solly stole when escaping. Of course the Orun clergy runs to the person who has a helmet of Orun if they're looking for someone who stole an Orun armor, if that's their only clue in Alivast. Whether they're human or not is in that moment irrelevant because the clue of the helmet is the only important part, due to how Solly is important to the clergy.

I feel that gaijin is a level headed person who thinks before he acts. He always tries to act with logic instead of emotion. His motive of backing up and calling for backup is practically the least risky and best case scenario. Screaming for help is risky, provided the group even is able to roll perception well. And sneaking away gives greckles the highest chance to alert the others, if his sneak fails, he is able to scream for help. Tbh I'm pretty sick of the mc running into the battle thinking they're all powerful and mighty. People calling him a coward should realise he's literally a rogue kenku, a character with low survivability and high damage. I understand that people's imagination is that greckles will somehow convince solly, and it is very cliché that the bad guy will just stand there and not do anything. Moreover, the circumstance is that greckles is already gonna turn her over to brork, so he probably wouldn't even be convincing since he knows that he can't help her and will hence betray her. He can only tell a white lie. Greckles feeling betrayed is totally understandable. He pretty much risked everything for her, even lying to his team and risking their relationship for her. Now he even had to go to prison because of her. I believe that she wasn't a COMPLETE puppet like everyone says she was. If she was literally brainwashed, i can understand, but she isn't. She even holds up greckles feathers in contemplation and decided to betray him. Obviously if someone decides to not choose you, you will feel betrayed. To be honest, both greckles feeling betrayed or not is perfectly understandable. I think the audience has taken a liking on solly.

So I’ve been binge watching this series for a bit now, and I feel like this is probably the episode where task and Greckles dropped in terms of everyone’s list of favorite pc characters. I honestly was surprised when Monty yelled at him “Are you seriously running away?” and he still ran. While it would be meta gaming, when the DM is very surprised by your actions in a semi-angry way, maybe you should change your course of action.

Snake is the only one who has a grasp on how the rules work. Fifth Ed is so easy to get: You have 1 action, 1 movement, and 1 bonus action. For a party at level 1 it's really weird how veteran players can't get a grasp on these simple rules.

Draco Magnius I also feel sorry for her too since this entire episode is basically "group fucked up my plans" the episode. What are you supposed to do against a (Demi)God? You talk, because gods are too arrogant to directly kill you, it's the ultimate insult to them that you would make them fight you. Also, he's using your absence as leverage. Break his leverage and you break his grip on Sulli. Not to mention, Task's rage was, while hilarious and made sense, completely clouding Task's thinking. Honestly, the Unexpectables screwed up (the characters not the players. Like any good game they're just having fun.)

Wow, they got this up quick. Very cool. Great episode, lots of emotion, some more insight into various characters, and no shortage of peril. Some concerns here and there, but overall wonderful.

This is my review of this episode and the arc so far in general. First allow me to pre-face this by saying that I'm not saying what the characters are doing is right or wrong. I've played roleplaying games for 18 years and I understand that they are playing in character and in the moment. That being said, first off, monty deserves a big round of applause on this by making it, without a shadow of a doubt, the partys fault that everything is happening. She has handed them out after out after out and they have blissfully strode right past them (sometimes as you should in character, sometimes you just miss them). Going with perhaps the most glaringly obvious one: they raced home from the wood cutter camp to get help for solley by taking her to broric....only to abandon her at the hall immediately upon returning to essentially go shopping. They got distracted and it bit them in the ass. Hell, they even missed the hint where they tell solley to 'stay there' and she tells them she's going to get some sleep which is where she has the most problems, and no one tips off helga that this might be an issue. They go to the sewers and have their fun and miss the repeated warnings from just about every npc they encounter and the numerous 'plot specific events'. They warn these zealots would kill task on sight. There is a big to do about solly's wanted poster, but task decides 'screw every warning given in the last two games' and strolls up the road (after it was suggested twice to take backways) wearing her helmet. The entire chase scene and accumulated damages are entirely on task. But, as with everything, task blames solley. Again, this isn't blame, this very much seems to be a continuation of his character. Heck, it could be an interesting tie in with his backstory afterall. He blames the dragonborn for his clutch dying, but maybe he's trying to keep from blaming himself for something he did to set the whole thing in motion. Who knows. Unfortunately, there won't be a moral lesson here for him unless he realizes it himself. Greckles is not likely to bring it up with his own arc here, and that leaves panic and borky to point all this out and that seems unlikely. I do have an issue with something I would consider out of character play here on the part of greckles and he tried to explain it away but it doesn't mesh with previous actions. He said that he wouldn't confront a god, yet he had no problem doing so before in the dream. Now, the argument can be made that that was a dream except that doesn't really mesh either since greckles at the time of his dream knew full well that stilhavity could harm him physically and materially in dreams. So he acted the big shot then, but when it matters he becomes a chicken birb :D Again though, this is all in the moment/in character stuff. I'm an outsider looking in and I'm not actually faulting him for how he played it, just pointing out the strangeness. The one thing I CAN fault someone for in this game is Zito. He keeps doing something that no player should do, and being a gm he should know it full well as well. STOP BRINGING UP THAT YOU DON'T CARE AND YOU CAN JUST MAKE A NEW CHARACTER. Everyone can and will do this. This isn't some unusual ability unique to zito, so there's no reason to bring it up. The reason why this is a cardinal sin is that 1) it is just a landmine for immersion (afterall, if there is 0 investment in the characters, as this kind of statement implies, then why the hell should the gm, other players, and in this case the viewers, even care.) There is a reason why even 4th wall breaking characters during the climax of stories don't say things like 'what does this matter anyway, it's just a comic/movie' etc. and 2) it is essentially GM hostage taking/sabatage. "I don't care, I can make a new character, to hell with the story unless it goes my way" is the general implication to this kind of statement. The fact he repeats it over and over whenever anyone says or does anything that displeased him pissed me off in what was otherwise an enjoyable game. Its insulting to monty, insulting to the other players, and insulting to the audience. Would you like watching a player on a sports team just throw balls away and say 'fuck you I'm rich' whenever someone challenged them on it? No. And that is what this is in Role Playing terms.

Finally someone gets it that it isn't Solly's fault. Task made a complete 180 from wanting to help Solly get rid of Stillhavity who's basically possessing her to "let's kill her because I get angry" Task is arguably the worst character in the series.

Zito is basically just role playing a more exaggerated version of himself. Definitely agree he's the weak link in this campaign. The whole "always angry" thing is kind of old at this point; both in game and seeing him on streams. Not trying to be mean or negative, just sayin'.

Its not that he's always angry, it's that he switches on a dime and for sometimes seemingly no reason. Take the Jail for example. Perfectly fine there, ponies up the dough for the damages and later he's literally murderous with rage. That doesn't really make sense. That being said, there's nothing wrong with a character with a chip on his shoulder. It's a common trope for a reason. I wasn't faulting Zito for playing that way. It's playing in character. Again, my only legitimate issue is the 'I don't care I'll just make a new character'. That being said, I'd love to see a shmoogin comic where ordinary bad things happen to task and he automatically blames solly. Like stubbing his toe, biting his tongue, etc.

Task might have trauma induced bipolarism that is being aggravated by recent events like dealing with soley-stilhavity situation and stilhavity destroying his sisters helmet one of the few things left of his clutch and the encounter with pug. who I hope reappears and they have to deal with him again.

Which is perfectly fair. However, it's still considered a cardinal sin of role playing. He's fine to act suicidal all he wants, he's free to be angry all he wants. It's in character. He repeated "I don't care, I'll just make a new character" half a dozen times though. That isn't right. That is a 'don't throw any adversity my way or try to tell a story, because it doesn't matter since I'll just make a new character'. EVERYONE can make a new character if things go wrong/too far for their character. This is an accepted fact of roleplaying. But it is wrong for the reasons already mentioned to bring it up in game. He didn't even use it for 'freedom'. He all but gave up trying to do anything. He tried to write himself out of the scene at the library by going for the guard, but only got back in when stilhavity made its appearance. Is that freedom? No, that's pouting. For again, actions he himself chose to take (despite attempts to talk him out of it) and things that he blames other people for. And don't believe me that it's a cardinal sin and isn't bad? Go back to the art special from a week ago. Go to where he says it there and listen to Monty's reaction. Did it seem particularly happy/excited to you? No. Because it handcuffs her if she knows that she has to limit how she tells the story based on not wanting to push the character too far and lose everything that has been built around them so far. It's a dick move and it's one that he, as mentioned, repeated half a dozen times during a climactic part of the game.

True. But, you gotta keep in mind a few things. 1. How often theyve told her specifically not to trust the literal demon trying to break her for his own desires, only for her to give in expressely to said demon. 2. How much stress they (as characters) have all been under in such a short period of time without a real chance to rest and wind down to let things process. 3. Just how harshly theyre being punished for actions they had no real control over. I.e, being officially labeled as criminals for simply acting on self preservation, getting into contact with Brorc to discuss about Solly (since they literally just got back), how harshly Peretun and the UCO is breathing down Alavast's neck in the first place, etc. They're gonna be a bit tired of things going wrong and want things to be done and over with, even at the expense of losing their faith and giving up on a friend like Solly.

Honestly I think he screwed up according to Monty unfortunately. Even there was the clue of the bird feathers to remind him of his promises. He did break his promises by going back. It's possible he would have been able to get Sully to the point where she could be temporarily sane by now. Just the fact that he went away to get help changed things. The encounter changed and Monty seemed a bit sad. So as much as he was level-headed, I think he screwed up in the long run. Self sacrifice to try to redeem Sully may have been the required course of heroics. It's certainly not the safest one, but it's how a hero acts. He acted more like a soldier trying to do a job rather than a friend trying to save their friend. Time will tell how much this cost them. Sully hadn't seemed to have completed things as Monty allowed Greckles to easily overhear without a check. So basically everything that's happening now may have been preventable. Maybe there would be an attack on the city, but the eye in the sky and such may not have been there.

I think alot of us were surprised. The logic of the inaction is understandable, Greckles was convinced that if he showed himself Stillhavity would probably swat him like a bug, and in the heat of the moment, that can be the primary thought. But as for myself, and I am sure many others who watched this in real time, this was the thing that kept flaring in my head: Stillhavity is a dealmaker and he is trying to convince Solly to sign on the dotted line. Doing anything that might discourage her from doing that, like hurting her friends, is not something he would be able to freely do without losing all the work he put into convincing her. So it seems at least somewhat reasonable to Greckles could have come out, told Solly that this was a trap, and try to get her out of there with Stillhavity knowing that if he seemed to want to hurt Greckles, Solly would utterly shoot down his offer. We shall of course never know and while that was a hard moment to watch, as a roleplayer I know all too well the hard decisions that don't seem so simple when it's your ass on the line.

Yeah, I was kind of bummed out that the anime birb didn't do the anime thing of bursting in screaming "no" And I'm not a huge fan of his justification either. The whole "I can't kill him because he's too stronk" just reeks of meta excuses. I can see how Greckles would know just as much as us that he can't take on a demon in combat, but "combat" shouldn't be the character's first problem-solving idea anyway unless he's someone like Borky. A normal person would try talking it out, Greckles is supposed to be a normal person and not a pile of stats driven by a player. And also even the meta excuse kinda falls apart if you have any trust in Monty. Obviously a good DM would have a non-combat solution prepared.

Right? I was so disappointed with him. You can tell how Monty handles the situation that she wasn't expecting him to turn tail and run, but she handles it so well. And in future episodes I feel like she gets back at Greckles for leaving. I can totally understand the drive to run, but with the way he's been so chivalrous with in the past it felt so out of character for him to run like that.

No lie, my opinion of Task is incredibly low now. he is not a soldier at all, he is a revenge-obsessed reckless idiot who has no self-control or value of peoples live around him. He could've communicated the urgency of the situation to the book-reader much better and efficiently if his mind wasn't clouded by rage, he sees Solly only as a liability without taking into account her feelings or that she is needed to not be in trouble with the authorities. While he didn't provoke the Orun clergy last episode, he did start shooting without caring what damage it would cause. At least Greckles was able to keep his cool under fire. Task is only a soldier in a very psychopathic light.

I can't help but feel the Party (Task, Greckles, Panic and Borky) is purposely being ignorant of the situation, I am super green at D&D but the amount of hints monty is dropping towards the party the past 3 or 4 sessions is starting get to me. Some of these are Meta but some of them do seem like its monty tryin to tell the party 'hey you are going down a very bad road, do you wanna die?' I wouldn't be surprised if, by some miracle, the party survives but loses the tavern, citizenship, and possibly even jail time Also Taka, ease up on the bits during the serious moments this is the first time I felt you were being fairly obnoxious and just killing moment, Borky is not the center of the campaign. Finally poor Brorc....I hope he is abke to get past this, I am upset he didn't talk to the party more bit with all thats goin on Brorc felt burdened, the party should of opened up to Brorc before leaving the prison.

Greckles is an awful person, not because he coward out but more that he has a weird possessive entitlement towards Solly. He took her in with the promise to find her an entrance to the Underdark but he never meant to keep that promise in the first place. Instead he wants to convince her to live in their tavern under their protection to 'help her'. When Greckles did find people who could find an entrance, he never asked himself if he should fulfill his promise. Solly warned him about the Clergy of Orun but he just dismissed her worries by saying "we will protect you". Lo and behold the Clergy came, she felt threatened enough to make a deal with Stillhavity because she's desperate to find a way to the Underdark and he has the audacity to be furious about a betrayal of his generosity after he pussed out at a key moment.
