Really happy with the genie warlock, it felt like at first that they couldn't tell if they wanted to be alladin or genie, but the second time around the firmly planted themselves for the better.

I do hope they change the spell list a bit for the Genie (phantasmal force/killer seem a bit weird in lieu of something like enlarge reduce) but otherwise the Genie marries crunch and fluff so wonderfully. It's my biggest hope for future publication out of what we've seen thus far.

For Path of the Beast barbarian. Containment Breach A Warforged named Containment unit - 02 and the thing it's is "Containing" being the rage and all your rages start with a Containment Breach warning

13:49 Counterspell story, minor spoilers for Descent into Avernus I played a sorcerer/artificer, and I had picked up counterspell. We were fighting Bel, basically a pit fiend+3, and most of my party was surrounding him. He was about to cast fireball centered on himself (something I joked about doing myself a lot throughout the campaign lol) and I subtly counterspelled it (the most annoying/effective way to counterspell!). He looked around confused, and my little gnome couldn't help but reply, "It happens to a lot of men your age!" This was after I got taken down by his Meteor Swarm, so a little bit of vengeance.

Am playing astral way monk in one of my friend's campaign, it really is a solid class, especially when you multiclass with cleric to get divine favor.

@@Caonabo how are you finding the balance of the astral soul? both in and out of combat? Is it Ki heavy or can it be balanced.

@@dantilem845 it is one of the more Ki friendly options, mainly because the use of their Ki comes with a 10 minute use. which means that ( with a round being 6 seconds ) you are able to use the arms for 100 rounds for 2 ki points, and given how quickly battles actually go, you'd still be able to use the arms. also having wisdom checks in place for strength checks while they are out allows you to focus your stats on WIS and DEX. this allows your unarmored AC to get to 20. (AC = 10 + WIS ability mod + Dex Ability mod). this will allow for further stacking with items like ring of protection ( +1 AC), bracers of protection (+2 AC), for 23 AC. and cloak of displacement ( enemies attack you at disadvantage) and you have yourself a tanky monk, that deals Hefty loads of damage late game. Early game damage is a tad weak though compared to other classes that get spells. You will see power spikes at 11th and 17th level. with 17th being your true potential unlocked.

Sidsel Bülow Lefmann I’ve considered a twilight cleric/wildfire Druid reflavored as a sun Druid to create a “light/dark balance” type of character. Take the blinding, searing fiery and rejuvenating light of the sun and the gentle, soft, concealing yet maddening veil of the dark of the night. A character with a strong and interesting duality.

Sidsel Bülow Lefmann I’ve got an onomancer kind of like that myself, actually! Does have SOME high damage spells, of course, but mainly focused on buff/debuff (mostly debuff) with curses and hexes and utility and support. He prefers to debilitate and weaken enemies and buff himself with non-concentration spells so that other people can deal with them easier rather than destroy them outright so maybe they’ll fear him enough to just leave him alone.

UA has been a great addition to the DnD universe, adding more flavor and new options for subclasses. Some classes were even revisited expanded upon. I do hope that, now that it seems the thought behind classes having been more refine and played out, some of the older sub classes that need a bit of help get a bit of love or some polished revision. The sub class that comes to mind, is way of the four elements monk. Has alot of potential to shine, but lags behind in preformance to other subclass options. With these new subclasses that have come out, it seems as though the ideas behind balancing the classes have become more effective, and this would be a good opportunity to bring that class back into the fold. I do hope this reaches out to y'all.

I love the swarmkeeper idea.. it feels kinda weak though? And I feel like it'd be more fitting for a druid... But it's very cool nonehteless... And class feature varients are something they simply can't take back at this point.. it's probably the most popular UA arcana every for 5e

My favorite UA was the class feature variants. I'm playing a Trickery cleric, and the level 8 poison damage for divine strike just... is underwhelming. Almost all undead are immune to poison. Of the rest of the undead, a few are resistant. So my special level 8 gift from my god is ineffective against my greatest foes?? So my DM is letting me use Blessed Strikes from UA, which is radiant instead of poison damage, and can be used for weapons AND spells, which is even better because I don't always feel like attacking with a rapier.

I'm really loving the new wizard subclass "order of the scribe" I want to play a wizard/warlock Order of the scribe/pact of the tome. i think this could be fun as hell.

I've loved the Psionics options, the class feature variants has some issues but it's clearly alive and well with the players, and personally I appreciated the UA in which the presented more Conjuration spells that are actually practical in combat. Oh, the latest Feats UA is also amazing. However, some of the subclasses take the cake for what I want to see published. Namely: Fey Wanderer Ranger, Circle of Stars/Wildfire Druid, Genie/Lurker in the Deep Warlock (with maybe one more minor revision for the latter), all of the subclasses in the revisited Psionics article, Path of the beast Barbarian. I love all of these options, and a great deal more than I can reasonably put into this, already quite long comment. So I'll just say PLEASE GIVE PHOENIX SORCERER ANOTHER CHANCE! And keep up the fantastic work you guys are doing despite the restrictions. It really is amazing how many amazing things Wizards are publishing through all of this crap. So thank you, Wizards.

Im playing a Warforged Artificer: Armorer-guardian type. With spell sniper booming blade at lvl 4. Then going Rune Knight fighter. He will be very tanky with booming thunder punches and a tower shield. Plus putting enlarge then giant growth makes him huge. I'm at lvl 5 now and have a 24ac. It's a very fun character to play.

Swarmkeeper ranger is great only thing is maybe allowing it to scale more ( 1 at 3, 2 at 9, 3 at 15? ) granted everything else about it is amazing. UA feats are amazing. UA class feature variants were nice.

I love both Rune Knight and Wild Soul mainly because they are inherently related to magic, nut in an unconventional way (like you stated). They aren't conventional spells. To me it makes sense. Spells are magic, but magic isn't JUST spells. It's much more. I understand that it's done mainly to simplify stuff, but many martial classes, when they have magical influences, usually basically cast spells. And on some of them it makes sense (like eldritch knight or arcane trickster). But with barbarians, monks and so on, it could be cool to have also other things.

My favorite UA that didn't survive the playtest process was the old Raven Queen patron for Warlocks, that came out next to the first iteration of the Hexblade. The RQ Warlock's abilities were flavorful as heck, that Sentinel Raven was VERY useful especially once you gained the ability to merge with it, and a Warlock with Spiritual Weapon? YES PLEASE. I played one in Curse Of Strahd and I LOVED it. I wish they'd revisit it someday.

I love the concept of the new Spirit Bard (which I think came out a little bit after ya’lls discussion) an occult storyteller that’s a nice thematic detour from the Lore Bard. I see it as a fun way to play as a witch who uses curses, necromancy, and divination to both attack and support. Hoping we get see some of these UA in Tasha’s, fingers crossed 🤞

I think the best thing that WOTC can do at this point is release a (Not AL Legal) Unearthed Arcana book for 5e featuring balanced versions of all the UA classes that they aren't considering for another book alongside some variant rules options and maybe even some older spells that have been converted to 5e. Otherwise I don't see us ever getting the bulk of the UA content being officially released.

Phantom Rogue has to be the biggest step backwards in revisions in the Unearth Arcana series to date. Revived Rogue had two big issues: 1."Revived Nature" felt out of place in the character story and needed to be made into a Supernatural Gift that you talk to your DM about at level 1 or if your character dies in the campaign. 2. "Bolts from the Grave" was too strong. It allowed you to set up sneak attack twice a round with extreme ease compared to other rogues. Everything else that was scrapped was a huge loss and replaced with uninspired mechanics. Wails from the Grave is the most uninspired Sneak Attack feature/capstone since Inquisitive. The "soul trinkets" just make you a murderhobo whereas Revived had Speak with Dead. Revived was a great "rogue who became a medium between life and death" feel that needed its story and mechanics ironed out a bit, but Phantom became "Spirit Halloween Executioner" and was a huge loss. They better at least put Ethereal Jaunt back in the class.

Poisoner is actually a lil disappointing. Poison is NOT a highly resisted damage type (about a dozen official creatures in total). Full Immunity to poison damage is almost 20 times more common.

Keep in mind that a lot of humanoid races/subraces have resistance to poison, so if your BBEG is a Stout Halfling, this is your way to go. Or, if your party is made up of a lot of people with that resistance, you could throw this feat onto your BBEG or their minions

I loved the idea of my abjuration wizard having access to Mage Armor unlimited number of times per day via warlock as a feat. It was rejected as OP by my GM, and I agreed.

Dragonborn have a racial feat that give them 13+DEX AC on top of a couple of other minor benefits. Just having at-will mage armor isn't really that bad when you're trading out an ASI.

Edward War an easy way to fix it would just be to make it you need to expend a spell slot for it to affect your ward. Other features require the use of a spell slot so it’s not a new concept at all.

Best UA subclasses in recent memory are Armorer Artificer, Creation Bard, Genie Warlock, Mercy Monk, and Swarmkeeper Ranger. All of them needed fine tuning (especially Mercy monk), but they were there. I would want to be iron man, or bring objects to life with song, or hang out in my genie pad, or do acupuncture and heal using alternative medicine. And Swarmkeeping is just... it's the best.

Considering sorceror is a Bloodline thing it would be neat if they had the origins change or at least give alternates to the casting stat. Make a psionic sorceror that can use int instead of charisma. Bring back giantsoul and it could maybe use str or con. Wis for genie maybe. Could be a stupid idea but I think it would make sorcerers more interesting.

I love feats and want more sub-classes . But what i really want is more paragon ( 11 to 20 ) level , epic ( 21 to 30 ) level & Legendary ( 31+ ) level content . We effectively need New player's handbook / Advanced Players handbook . Maybe a Dungeons & Dragons 5th advanced Edition or Dungeons & Dragons 5.25 Edition .

Not sure how many times this needs to be said. But very few creatures have resistance to poison damage. Yes dwarves get it but they don't represent a lot of opponents in games. If a creature does have either immunity or resistances 90-95% of the time its just going to be outright immune. The feat does nothing to address creatures that are outright immune (because reducing resistance, rules as written, does not reduce immunity).

Yup, the Armorer gets a feature at level 6 that lets them have about 4 more infusions up, they just have to be the separate bits of your power armor. I do however agree that a class focused around being some person that was experimented on, or a highly customized warforged, that can choose different weapons and switch between them the way Megaman does would be interesting, be some sort of fighter, kind of like the Rune Knight

Acid Storm Sorcerer, I could see how that would reflavor... you call down acid rain with just the right amount of ions to conduct electrical currents like a battery, so the acid actually reaches back up to meet the lightning bolt... wait, that might just be combining two damage types, not replacing lightning with acid, ha

I don't think of Hunters Mark or Hex as spells, really, as much as they are class features. Removing them would be akin to removing a thief's sneak attack because there isn't an alternative.

I mean come on ... the class variant is like THE BIG WINNER. and hard to beat the rune knight and astral self. the new feats are a blast too. but I feel the Tattoos UA are kinda my favorite but can be pushed more ... MOAR OPTIONS and higher level stuff.

also tattoo UA introduced spirit shroud the spell that helped my Hexblade deal 116 damage "could done 140" to a Demon... the DM saied its too broken and had to be nerfed. which like Hexblade struggle with thier spells in the first place. :D But hey start with 1d6 and gain 1d6 for every two spell levels dealing 2d6 per hit instead of 3d8 ... lets see how this gonna go.

I want the full release of the Mystic class. Unfortunately they seem determined to ruin it with the psi dice. Fighter can keep the psi dice mechanic, maybe a monk or Bard class, but that's it. Made me miss psi points Tattoos and Runes are severely underused. Class Feature Variants was fantastic, Versatility Feats are refreshing. Tandem Tactician is way too OP, but they do need more bonus action stuff. Talisman is nice if you homebrew an invocation that adds your charisma mod, or an unarmored defense Edit: I wish they would give the revised Ranger primordial awareness to the PHB class. Tracker feat too. Submission holds could use some implementation, but it's not really something I'd expect people to be passionate about.

I dislike ALL of the psychic classes they made. Feels kind of lame and feels like other classes can do what they do with just flavour added. I think the Mystic in concept was really cool. I'd like a physic class not these subclasses.

The issue I always had is there's so many ways to take the idea of psychic powers that I don't know that one class can contain them all without becoming insanely broken, which mystic was. I'd love to see a functional mystic class, but to me dividing psychic abilities up into multiple subclasses made so much sense. I'll also admit, I'm one of not very many who really liked the psi die. It was a unique mechanic that set those subclasses apart while also uniting them, and I'm really sad that it probably won't stick around. But I do see that psionics will be super hard to get right, especially since everyone wants something different from it, so I'm cutting WotC some slack there.

@@HSuper_Lee I agree mystic was busted in how much stuff it could do. I would still prefer just one class and then make a bunch of subclasses. Thematically I just don't like the idea of psychic powers everywhere or the psy die across multiple subclasses. Oddly I'm perfectly fine of naturey/druidy/feywildy subclasses because to me that makes sense. It makes sense how you could have a rouge be a scout and be chilling in nature. If makes sense that there's an oath of ancients that protects nature and beauty. It makes sense that a bard would learn about fey stuff because bards do everything. But psychics, telekinetics, telekinesis, and telepathic abilities don't make sense too me and seem so far out there that they don't belong to subclasses. Much like how the artificer is the CLASS for making technology/magical things. I think a single Mystic or Psychic class would make the most sense for these kind of abilities.

@@bobbobby475 I will say, if they distilled psionics down to the class telepathy, telekinesis, and ESP abilities and made a class out of that, I'd be fairly happy with it. I only started playing D&D a few years ago, so I think one of my influences has just been hearing people talk about other editions where psionics was parallel to magic in it's scope and I guess that's made me think that if we had so many classes based around magic, there must be tons of classes based around psionics too. Your comment has me considering confining psionics for the first time and distilling it down to the most "classic" abilities. I must say, it's very intriguing.

No it doesn't Anybody can get advantage on a survival check by having an ally use the Help action, you can have rangers without Hunter's Mark, and somebody else having it doesn't make Ranger useless

My favorite was the Seeker warlock which is gone now and kinda the genie warlock now still prefer the seeker. Let me play my sugar baby warlock that runs to there sugar daddy for safety and eventually can throw full parties with there friends at there sugar daddys house.

ACID. Nope, no different to any other type of damage in 5E, unfortunately. Not even different poisons do different things any more. Only reason to change damage type is for dodging resistances, etc. Unfortunately. :(

There should be a "shaman" class that is the magicky, elementary druid, and a "druid" class that is just a moon druid/path of the beast mutating class

I'd replace the elemental aspect with more of a spirit communion magic aspect. Maybe make it a Barbarian 1/3 caster.

It's weird, I have a hard copy of the players handbook with a shaman class in it, but it is not in the dndbeyond version and I can't find any information about it online.
