The good Charisma actually does fit Bowser pretty well since, when it comes to his subjects, the game version of Bowser is one of the few evil rulers out there that rules through respect (with the Koopa Troop often being genuinely proud to serve him).

Not just often lol, almost ALL of Bowser's minions are ALWAYS genuinely proud and loyal to him. Only a few of his minions (such as the elite trio and those Mounty Holes in inside story) are disloyal to him, all of Bowser's other minions need to be brainwashed in order for them to turn their backs on Bowser. And while Bowser is a lot of terrible things and has done a lot of terrible things, he is clearly a caring king towards his people.

One thing you probably should have mentioned: Armor of Agathys is on the Conquest paladin spell list, doesn't require Concentration and has a duration long enough that it can be cast before entering Rage or even combat, is possibly the best defensive spell in the game and eminently upcastable, and is even thematically appropriate since Bowser can often be seen doing cold damage as well as fire. 😁

Tortle fits better for Bowser, IMO. You can use spells for the fire breath. Also, enlarge reduce with rune knight for his size changing. Also, there's no reason to use the PHB Dragon Born when Fizban's exist

An Alter version of Bowser, would fit him very well. It Would be Fighter + Sorcerer. Fighter to the melee attacks and Sorcerer to various fire spells

I did a bowzer along that line. Tortle sorcerer dragon ancestry mulitclass fighter rune knight to gain giant might to grow large, then huge with the enlarge spell. Also the Drago breath spell. I was breathing fire more then the dragon born in our group was. He was surprised by that.

Draconic sorcerer tortle. It says that dragon like traits begin to emerge at level 1 and you get dragon like scales that would be gold if you chose gold and you would get resistance to fire while being a real koopa. If i was making Bowser i would probably just change the race and thake one level in draconic sorcerer and replace draconic fear with skill expert intimidaton or in other words You did great.

Really cool build. I like leaning into the ruler aspect of bowser rather than just making him a crazy dragon. Unfortunately, I don't think divine smite works for regular unarmed strikes as it only works with weapons (despite them being melee weapon attacks) per Jeremy Crawford. However! The claws for beast barbarian explicitly state that they are considered weapons, so they'd work for divine smites and improved smite. Unfortunately, the tail and bite don't say that, so you'd lose the ability to smite and use improved smite using regular fighter unarmed strikes. Personality, I think smiting with unarmed strikes is cool and doesn't impose balance issues, so I'd allow it. Given that it doesn't work RAW though, make sure to check with your DM first!

Bit of a correction I wanted to point out. Your natural weapons from Form of the Beast are *simple weapons* not unarmed strikes, so Unarmed Fighting would be less useful. Dragon Hide would be even less useful as the claws you get are only 1d4, but if you had room for Dragon Hide, it might be worth it when you're not using the claws. But that's only if you want to invest in it. Otherwise, this build works well enough.

I would have gone Tortle race. Bowser is a *Tortle not Dragoon.* He’s just a giant one. Which *Giant Might* would help with. Then, go Beast Barbarian (for spiky tail). I, personally, would have also gone Necromancy Wizard (11 levels). That’s just for a Campaign idea I have though. It could also be good to get some fire spells. The idea is that he has a bunch of Tortles (Koopa) which he controls. When they die, he can raise the dead and make them Skeletal Koopa (Dry Bones).
