So DnF Duel is out and about now, and its time for another video to help you out with the game! We already have a beginners guide on the channel(linked at the end of this video) but lets get a bit more into the weeds with a few concepts in this game why not! So Here is 7 essential tips for you(timestamped, natch) and hope this video helps you out! ***EDIT*** since it was brought up in the comments, yes you can kara regular throws as well! It doesn't just have to be a special move!

I will say in making this video I was gonna use the grappler originally as a kara-grab example, but then I saw how it worked for the enchantress and the huge boost she gets and well, she took his place lol. I agree. I like air-blocking in fighting games. It's okay to me if there are some select moves that can take out a blocking airborne opponent, but in this game, every move does. And it's not like the moves don't have a long reach. They reach half-way across the screen and often pretty far into the air as well. I knew this going in, and it's its own game, but it can be hard to get used to and definitely takes some options off the table.

I'm having issues with Striker dealing with zoners. I'll try using white health to cancel into getting closer, but man, it seems like some characters in this have infinite detached blockstrings. I must be missing something, but I'm genuinely not sure what.

I feel the same way playing grappler. I have armor but everbody just spams low light and I end up blocking the whole match trying to get my turn.

Use the guard button to dash and roll . UT makes it way easier. They have a tutorial that let's you practice it

Doesnt striker have invincible moves to projectile?

Striker can keep you locked down for a very long time. She is an example of a character you will have to start using the guard cancel on. Yeah she can "bait it" but only very early on, if she otherwise commits past a few hits its basically a free get off me.

she is super annoying to fight. And when she takes damage and gains more mp it feels so hard to get your turn back or to even know when it's your turn.

Quick PSA for training mode! You can hold forward [6], back [4] or down [2] while pressing your Round Restart keybind (in my case, Select) in order to set your respawn to either wall or in the centre of the stage, respectively. I audibly gasped when I found this out! Super awesome and very sneakily hidden QoL.

It's a great quality of life in some arcsys games. Guilty Gear Strive also does the same thing. And I think *maybe* DBFZ does it too but I could be wrong. I wish it had the same character reaction options as the GGST training mode though

@rooflemonger, Just a little something I noticed you said at 1:25, Grappler actually CAN combo 5B into 2S (hold), there's a sweet spot when you release the S early and it DOES combo :)

Man so far I haven’t won a single match lol, swiftmaster is hella busted that’s for sure but I did notice most players start combos always with ground attacks

Its a very grounded game in a lot of ways since you can't airblock in this game, jumping carries a fair bit of risk.

Dang! Good to know that Kara-cancel into grabs exist in this game too! I loved doing them ever since I played Potemkin in GGST! Back to #1, I forgot, does whiff-punishing throws result in a counter hit too like certain other games? (I'd find out myself if I had the game.) 🤔

Loving DnF duel its a tone of fun but i noticed alot of characters have so much mid to long range spamable attacks its feels almost impossible to get in when playing either striker or Grappler. Especially vs Troubleshooter and Inquisitor

Striker feels like a great first character to learn the game but all those active frames don’t help in a game like this where everybody has big mid range moves. Mid range is hugeee in this game and striker just can’t fight against it

I played a Ghostblade in player match where i just...couldn't press anything. I just could not do ANYTHING no matter what i did, I couldnt break through, i almost thought it was a bot because the execution of every combo was completely flawless not a single whiff.

@@MarkusSimm Id recommend going in training move, and seeing which of his moves you can punish. start with the ones that really annoyed you. it also might've been that you just came across a really good player on his way up in ranked

A tip on how long the manna takes to refill. Since you were using the Kunoichi flame tornado, the time it takes to refill is based on how much manna you had. So you were doing it at 10 left, it sets the manna gauge at -80 and it has to recover that back before you see the positive gauge gain. Which is why at 70 manna, it refilled so fast because it only had to recover -20... Hope that makes sense

Yeah its pretty tight, I've only managed to get it a few times. If its too hard, full charge Steiner instead of the second kick is easier.

Does anyone have a clue as to how to deal with dragon knight spamming the meteor thing? It has such a big blast radius, is safe after touching the ground so it cant lead to a full combo punish, can cancel into fly right after to be even safer i cant seem to get close every time, i tried teleporting with ghostblade but she just flies away, rolling in general has too much of a recovery that she gets enough time to jump and meteor again. Dragon knight is just kinda illegal imo she gets a large zoning slash, a dragon for set ups, a dp, good command normals, what cant she do?

Not at all an airdasher. No airdashes at all, in fact. One character has a double jump and a bunch of air lariats move you forward, but you can't airblock and you can't airdash. It's definitely a footsies-zoning game.

Weird mix of both honestly. Neutral is akin to a tradition fighter. But combos are long like airdashers. However, there are no air dashes or air blocks

This is def an anime fighting game, but a bit more grounded. No air dashing, no blocking while jumping. Leaving the ground has consequences you will have to accept if you get called out. That said in other ways the game is more anime than anything ever with how crazy some of the characters get

grapplers are always low tier in fighters for the most part. Especially in this game honestly he's probably the worst character. That said his damage is the overall highest so the hits you get are satisfying, but yeah you are gonna have to learn to block and like it.

I’m sorry this game is trash net code wise it great game play it trash its a shooter delight injustice 2 vibe it good in looks but fighter and judo dude gets shafted in this madness but all and all it needs some serious fixing for example when special grabs get knocked out by a simple jab it just useless I’m sorry it just two back dashes and get shot a lot from most of the cast especially if main is two of three people without a projectile.

Learn Defense, also grabs shouldnt go throw normals anyways, have you tried hugging a man whos punching you? also if there not zoners usually they have anti zoning moves. read the tooltips.

Once again don’t get me wrong I do like this game a lot and these tips and Videos help I just feel the balance is off character wise and I feel this is the new way that FGC will walk for awhile and I’m curious to see where this will take us.

I don't believe you can say a character is poorly made if a mechanic that doesn't exist in the game were to be added would make them trivial, since they were made without the mechanic in mind.

@@MayHugger Question- Do you know air reset do exist, right? That in turn means you can get locked out blocking and be forced to eat all the damage with no way to get out of it once it starts. Several characters (Inquisitor) can easily do that. So do you still think they shouldn't have air blocks? Do you really want ( technically) T.O.Ds in the game with little risk? Because I sure as hell don't.

@@dirtyfox5800 actually her puppet stuff is horrible. She a really bad puppet character and it is best to play her as range character with the puppet throw in. The puppet can be easy stun lock or dash threw, the puppet also is slow and doesn’t change direction fast enough. It loses to just about everything. The character puppet work is half bake.

enchantress is a puppet character and was always gonna be harder than everyone else. Those characters take a lot more time and effort before you start seeing results

@@rooflemonger actually no her puppet stuff is just bad. It not about her be hard to play. It that fact that she doesn’t have to tool at all. Go ask a enchantress player. They will tell. I’m surprised you would even make that comment with out knowing the character. Oh and yes I play puppet character but they have set up and tool to win where enchantress doesn’t. I dare you to try and play her as a puppet character. You will get wash. The best thing about her is her projectile.
