I went a half size up and they fit perfectly, really it depends on the foot whether or not you should size up or down. I took a shot in half a size up cause there are ZERO stores around here that carry them in store, so I had no way to try and on. They are kick ass shoes, if you have the option to try on in store, do it.

Good review, I got a pair of reebok crossfit lifters and i like the way they feel. They look goofy though to be honest.I heard great things though about these romaleos, I think I might give em a try, they look amazing.

No problem! I had to look a lot of places to figure it out myself so I tried to give my best advice on it.

Nice review... a question. Can you use those shoes for everyday use or just when go into gym ? They are light and breathable for everyday usage?

I would not recommend them for every day use at all. They definitely aren't meant to be worn for extended periods of time.

that they are abit heavier is just great, they should have been even heavier, we are gonna need stability on big heavy squats, they are not ment for running :))) reason I want to get these is because of stability, I do have some crossfitt orange reebook shoes but does anyone here feel these shoes are very stable?

btw do you deadlift in these too? i read wearing completely flat shoes (which these are not) is best for deadlifts.

Sean Carter I don't ever deadlift in them and most don't. Flat shoes are the way to go on the deadlift.

Ok so I've measured my foot as per instructions on the Nike official website, it is 27.5cm long. That chart there seems to be bogus, because it says 10.5, and I've seen Romaleos boxes online that have "US9.5 27.5cm" stamped on them. This is also in agreement with various conversion charts online. I have wider feet, would you recommend going with 9.5? Thanks

What is your normal shoe size?
@deviantan021
@deviantan021 9 жыл бұрын
D&P Fitness 27.5cm is my foot size from heel to toe, I have shoes between 43 and 44.5 (EU), depending on the manufacturer and the size conversion they used

It would really suck to get these and the size missed by a mile :)
@JustisCousinsFitness
@JustisCousinsFitness 9 жыл бұрын
That's a decent size range. Usually I'd say go with the lower end, which in your case would be a 9.5. But because of the range and because you said you have wider feet, I would recommend a 10. Ultimately you have to make the choice yourself but from what I'm gathering it seems like a 10 would be safe.

Is there a difference between tightness in the shoe when you're using the competition sole from when using the training sole? I've heard the competition sole takes up more room in the shoe. If this is the case and you want to to use the competition sole all the time, should I get my normal shoe size rather than go down?
@JustisCousinsFitness
@JustisCousinsFitness 9 жыл бұрын
I haven't notice any difference between the two. If there is, it is minimal and shouldn't change what size you plan on ordering.

Hey man quick questio, Do you think I can use these for the rest of my leg day? (leg press, calves, hams, quads) ect, or should I use them solely for squatting?
@JustisCousinsFitness
@JustisCousinsFitness 9 жыл бұрын
I've seen many people use them for their whole leg day. I choose to switch them out, but there's really no negative effects of using them for the rest of the workout except that they are slightly heavier than most shoes. So if you don't want to switch in and out of shoes in the middle of your workout, just keep them on.

Nike Frees are pretty good for that. I wouldn't recommend squatting or deadlifting in them really but you could always just kick them off and go barefoot for those lifts if your gym allows.

Many people use chuck taylors. They don't have a raised heel but if ankle mobility isn't an issue for you, then you'll be okay. I've seen people use Vans authentics. The crossfit lite TRs are specifically designed for those lifts but cost a little more than chucks.

can you deadlift in these shoes?
@JustisCousinsFitness
@JustisCousinsFitness 9 жыл бұрын
Yes you can. Elliot Hulse has videos of him doing it and Massthetics has some videos talking about using it as a training tool. With that said, I wouldn't recommend doing it. Without getting too deep into it, based on the biomechanics and leverages, you want your feet to be as close to the floor as possible and you don't want there to be an elevation in your heels. It will just make the lift harder/less efficient.

Hey man when it comes to sizing, how snug should they be around the toe? I just got mine and went the half size down and there's a little bit of room at the top, should my toes be in touch with the tip of the shoe and be that tight?
@JustisCousinsFitness
@JustisCousinsFitness 9 жыл бұрын
Hmm, I've never really heard of that problem before. I'd say as long as your foot isn't sliding around, you should be good. Ideally, you'd want your toes to be in contact with the front of the shoe to ensure a snug fit.

I wear a size 9.5 (UK) for my Nike running shoes, I have flat feet though, do I still go half a size down to 9?
@JustisCousinsFitness
@JustisCousinsFitness 10 жыл бұрын
It sort of depends on how tight your running shoes fit and how wide your feet are, but I'd recommend a half size down to just about 95% of people. So most likely, that's your best bet.

I wear 11 1/2 in Nike Wide Fit running shoes (Nike Dart IXs). My feet are wide so should I really get size 11s for these Romaleos? Or get 11 1/2s??

Please help me with my squats. I'm 6ft 4 and getting so depressed with my squat. I can't go low enough and if I do I end up doing a good morning!! Do these help a lot?? Please help!!!
@JustisCousinsFitness
@JustisCousinsFitness 9 жыл бұрын
Manjeet Singh If you are 6ft 4, I would say these (or other olympic shoes) are almost required to get the kind of squat you're probably looking for. The good morning issue may just be a case of weak quads as compared do your hamstrings and back, but that's an issue that is hard to evaluate just through your comment. To get lower, you have to really work hard on increasing your mobility in your hips and ankles.
@manjeetsingh6202
@manjeetsingh6202 9 жыл бұрын
When I say good morning, this I believe is due to the ankles and hips? As when I go down, my knees track forward? I will have to invest in the trainers! I've just ordered a belt and knee sleeves...do these help? Which hip/ankle mobility would you recommend and is this before squats or everyday thing! Appreciate the help brother!
@MattGreen570
@MattGreen570 9 жыл бұрын
Manjeet Singh forget the weight you're squatting and focus strictly on form. do higher reps and sets with lighter weight with perfect form. people who squat heavy with bad form is kinda like trying to sprint before you know how to crawl. it's all about slow progress and getting comfortable.
@manjeetsingh6202
@manjeetsingh6202 9 жыл бұрын
MGFitness I agree with you. I have also done this...but as soon as I go heavy it gets a lot tougher. I'm not saying tall people shouldn't squat but it's so so hard to make any progress!
@MattGreen570

Manjeet Singh you have a loooong way down... same with bench press. long legs/arms=more distance to travel or push. maybe also try doing box squats.
