Gentlemen, some info about Bradshaw. You will love this guy. Louisiana boy, 6"4" and played at 235. Crazier than a dog with a mustache. I mean proper crazy guys. He was drafted in 1970 and the Super Steelers of the 70's were built around him. He went to 4 Super bowls and won all 4. One year he came to camp at 215lb and was the fastest guy on the team. And when he took off running it took about 4 guys to bring him down because he instantly became all knees and elbows. I mean nobody liked tackling Terry Bradshaw. He was a High School Javelin star and was offered several scholarships to do it in college and only one college wanted him to play football: Louisiana Tech. And he threw like a javelin thrower, with his index finger on the tip of the ball. A technique like no other before or after him. Threw it poker straight and he could drop it in a bucket from a country mile away. At Louisiana Tech he was second string to a guy who got bored with football and quit to go duck hunting more. Terry said he was so good that had he not quit no one would know Terry's name because he would never have gotten a chance to showcase his skills. That fellow went on to be the Old Man patriarch on the TV show Duck Dynasty. The crazy dude with the long gray beard. Ya that guy. And that just proves truth is stranger than fiction.

I think my favorite Big Ben Statistic, he was the winningest QB in the Brown's Stadium in 2017 with 11 wins. Which speaks more to how bad the Brown's QB situation was for the last two decades, but also to his dominance in the AFC north.

He had a winning records vs all 3 teams in the division - overall 67-22-1. A huge chuck of that came at the expense of the Browns - 26-2-1 !! He was 24-10 vs Bengals & 17-10 vs Ravens. Browns dominance includes 12-2-1 in Cleveland and 14-0 at home! In the 2004 draft, Browns chose Kellen Winslow II with the 6th pick, who had a great pedigree and though played well at times, was mostly a disappointment. Especially after being convicted of sexual assault. Typical Brown's circumstance. Steelers picked 11th and chose Ben. 'Nough said!!

I saw Tomlin on his podcast. He talked about that game and said he couldn't look at him in the eye after the broken nose. The guy on the sideline who straightened his nose told him he wasn't sure if it was broken, but apparently his nose was facing a different direction than the rest of his face. It was very obvious it was badly busted.

Big Ben was my teams QB literally as long as I could remember before last year. A great career to be sure. You guys should consider doing a wiki read during the video to answer some of these questions about his height and career length and maybe some accolades as well. @@Odd1006 I watch a ton of QB School's analyses of Kenny. He's a weird one for sure. In my opinion hes got the it factor a high level Qb needs in confidence and decision making but misses a lot of routine stuff. Whether it's mainly him or his lack of faith in Canada I guess we wont know for a while. Also gotta remember he got pretty banged up a week and a half ago and has been toughing it out.

7:33 You had it. He did that “weird” scramble because he wouldn’t have been able to throw if he was ahead of the line of scrimmage so he stayed behind it. That was in a Super Bowl. His first of 3 and his first win of 2 in 2005. He was like 22 and it was his 2nd year in the league. He made the backyard football style of play that Mahomes gets tons of credit for now popular. Pump takes, scrambles, launching the ball across field etc. He played for so long (18 years all w/ Steelers) that people forget how mobile he was in his first like 10 seasons. He was elusive (never fast) had a huge arm and was hard to bring down because he’s massive (nickname is Big Ben at 6’5” like 260lbs). It made that style unique to him which is why he won so much and why he will be in the Hall of Fame

He's so underrated it's actually insane. People say he isn't even top 10, while putting Mahomes and Eli manning in there. Ben could have easily had 2-3 more superbowls if the Broncos, Patriots, and Colts weren't all in his conference.

Ben is a big man. Plus, his grip strength was so good he could pull the ball down, have someone grabbing at it, and still make a throw. Defenses couldn't decide what was worse: Ben running or trying to take him in the pocket. The receiver in clip #12 was Ju Ju Smith-Schuster. Played several seasons with the Steelers. Now he's with Kansas city.

Ben has said that's one of his personal top plays. To get away from Suggs who had a death grip on Ben but then tried to knock the ball out, which lessened his grip on Ben, allowed him to get out of the pocket & throw incomplete to avoid the sack. Suggs hated that play!! LOL

Big Ben also holds the NFL record for most 500 yard passing games with 4, three in the regular season, one in the post-season. The record is 554 by Norm van Brocklin in 1951. He was also played for years on the same team as Troy Polamalu.

Ben played from 2004 to 2021, all with the Steelers. He was tough as nails, played through injuries more than he probably should have. I remember one game he sprained his ankle or something similar and was sitting out, then came back in for the 4th quarter just to beat the Browns. He beat the Browns a lot, actually owned the record for most wins in their stadium until I believe 2019. That final play was for the win of Super Bowl 43, which is a game yinz should definitely watch the full highlights of. Also, Terry Bradshaw was the QB for the Steelers' dynasty in the 70s, anything you can find on that is worth a watch, too. There was a lot of not very good in between.

As a Steelers fan, I loved your reaction. Ben was an absolute monster. He played through some crazy injuries in his career, including beating the Ravens after suffering a broken nose (no penalty called on the play either). I know you guys have watched Ray Lewis clips. Ray Lewis and Ben had the utmost respect for eachother because of how they both played the game. They helped shape the greatest rivalry in the NFL.

Ben was very much one of the toughest guys i've watched. Dude got his nose broke, walked to the sidelines, had it put back into place and ran back on the field. Towards the end of his career we were begging him to retire because he started falling off, but definitely appreciate everything he did for us.

he wasn't fast, but he was somehow elusive to bring down, the size helped and he was one of the best ever to recognize threats as they appeared and able to scramble away from them, allowing WR and TEs enough time to find space. Also, he had RIDICULOUS receivers and everyone was on the same page with "just give me a chance to catch it is all I ask." The team dynamic of the steelers in this era was electric. You guys already know about Polamalu on the defense as well... and Ward was the best blocking receiver in NFL history. Rules of the NFL were changed because of him.

Big Ben came in 2004 played against Ray Lewis and Ed Reed 2 times a year (3 sometimes if they played in playoffs) till 2012. Those games were some battles.

Huge Steeler's fan here. Ashmed after Damo's challenge it took me until play 43 to realize number one was gonna be was gonna be Santonio's superbowl winning catch. As far as the bee uni's go I was never a fan but I know a few Steelers fans who were big fans. A word on Antonio Brown, in my opinion he could have been a top 5 WR all time had he not lost his head. I'm not excusing his off the field behavior but if there is one guy that currently has CTE it's Antonio Brown.

I blame that dirty hit from Vontez Burfict, throwing a forearm to the head, as the cause of Antonio Browns' downward spiral. He was a team player and a right guy until that hit. After that, his bizarre aberant behaviour began, and he has never been the same since.

Terry is recorded as the last play calling QB. With Landry calling plays in from the sideline all teams started doing that but Terry played into the 80s where all teams were sending plays into the huddle by then.

The greatest quarterbacks of this past generation that just retired are Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Payton Manning, Eli Manning, and Big Ben. All of those are hall of famers without debate. The only left in the league is Rodgers

he did play for a long time, to give a sense of how long. His Helmet only changed once, and that was because the helmet he used to wear was banned from use by the NFL, so he switched to a newer design of the same manufacture Riddell.

Big Ben was without a doubt an elite QB when he played and retired an all time great. 18 seasons with Pittsburgh in the most physical division in the NFL and put up all time stats, two SB rings, and all time leading Steeler QB in every major statistical category. Not to mention one of the most clutch QBs in history, 3rd all time in comebacks just behind Brady and Manning.

Big Ben got his nick name from one of the local announcers in Pittsburgh because of a high light of him on college running a play called "big ben" he tells the story of it on his podcast "footballin with Ben Roethlisberger"

In addition to being the only QB to throw for 6 TDs in back to back games he also has the most perfect passer rating games in NFL history and most games with 500 yards passing. He could have easily broken the single game passing yards record but the Steelers stopped throwing mid way through the fourth quarter. Was a crazy historic passing performance.

Ben was one of a kind. He won his first Super Bowl his second year in the league, he self admittedly didn’t play well in that game (his throw and TD run where he barely broke the plane against the Seahawks are from that Super Bowl). He managed to get back in Super Bowl 43 which was an instant classic where he threw the game winning TD. They managed to get back a 3rd time two years later where they lost to Aaron Rodgers and the packers. Craziest part is, Ben’s best statistical years and best supporting cast came between 2013 and 2018, but they were never able to make it back to the Super Bowl since their defense went downhill following several retirements from all pro defensive players, coupled with some key injuries in the playoffs during a few years.

Ben wasn’t only highly rated for what you can see in video. He was also one of the toughest dudes to ever play the game. Played through a broken nose and numerous other injuries. He was very tough to injure in the first place but even when you did, it didn’t take him out of the game.

One said that he just didn't get American football. I told him its everything America loves: Combat, interrupted by committee meetings followed by judicial review.

Big Ben took the Steelers to the Superbowl 3 times in his first 7 years in the league, winning the first 2 against the Seahawks and Cardinals....Losing the 3rd to the Packers.... Roethlisberger made it to the playoffs 12 times in his 18 seasons in Pittsburgh. His postseason record was 13-10. Terry Bradshaw played for the Steelers in the 70'sand early 80's , leading them to 4 Superbowl victories.

Tom, Peyton, and Ben for most of the 2000s were top quarterbacks in the AFC…they met plenty of times in the playoffs or the AFC Championship game…usually stopping the other from making it to the Superbowl…the stripped uniforms were a throwback to the football uniforms worn in the 1920s…

Guy could always shrug off a giant defender and somehow escape to make a huge play happen. When you needed him most Ben was there extending plays and rocketing the ball out to a receiver. The guy is one of the best at extending plays to ever play the position and his pump fakes were like no other. Absolute beast of a quarterback.

Thanks for letting me relive my childhood mates. He was truly great. I was 7 years old when he was drafted by the Steelers in 04 and was at his last game in Pittsburgh on January 3rd, 2021, when he beat the browns one last time. Chanting "Thank you Ben" with all of Pittsburgh in the freezing cold was amazing. And yeah, we miss him lol

Fun fact, Big Ben had more wins at Cleveland browns stadium when the browns came back in 1999 than any regular regular browns qb did till 2020. Remember Big Ben only played 1 game a season at the browns stadium, that was how bad the browns were at qb where they were changing qbs all the time. It finally took until 2020 when browns qb at the time, Baker Mayfield finally broke it.

Ben was our qb for 18 years,. He spent his entire career with the Steelers, holds all the Steelers passing records, and stands as one of the best to have ever played the game. He was known for being surprisingly elusive, especially for his size, and creative when scrambling, and very hard to bring down, was incredibly tough and was a joy to watch! Also, the tackle they show him make was significant because it was the divisional playoff game against the Colts. Running back Jerome Bettis, who hadnt had a fumble all year, loses the ball, Harper grabs it, and has a near-clear shot to the endzone. Ben tackles him, the Colts miss the game-tying field goal, Steelers win and go on to win the Conference Championship game against Denver, and then the Super Bowl.

The ultimate scrambling QB was Fran Tarkenton, who played from 1961 to 1978, and was at his very best when at age 38 a badly broken leg ended his career. Francis scrambled in the classic sense - to extend the play and buy time to throw the ball, instead of to gain yards with his feet. Defensive players hated Tarkenton for exhausting and embarrassing them.

One of the crazy things that Ben could do is pump fake hard. Cornerbacks and safetys would bite, thinking he was going to throw, and he pulls it b@ck and throws somewhere else. It was because of how hard he could fake the throw. Large hands and good strength in the wrist, arm and hands. But there’s a long list of things that made him one of the best ever.

Ben is top 10 in literally every QB stat that you can think of. 3 super bowl appearances, and he won 2 of them. I believe he’s 2nd all time if 4th quarter comebacks. He is the ONLY QB to have 6 touchdowns in back to back games. He was known for breaking tackles of 300lbs defenders, keeping his eyes downfield the whole time & then throwing a beautiful deep pass down the field. He was different, he was special, and his style was like no other. They called it “backyard football style”. He was truly a 1 of 1. I loved this man with all my damn heart. The memories he made for us fans will never be duplicated. If you watch his final home game the fans were chanting his name, and there were thousands of signs showing appreciation for him. After the game he was crying & taking it all in. He then did a lap around the field to give a high five to all of the fans he could. He will always be missed as our QB.

For my money, the play at 8:48 is the finest moment in Roethlisberger's career, getting flushed out of the pocket, scrambling around avoiding a 5-man rush, running at full speed to the high side of the field with a defender breathing down his neck, spinning around and throwing a dart to the complete other side of the field for a first down, and in a Super Bowl no less, it doesn't get much better than that for any QB ever, even eliciting a fist pump from the normally humble and reserved Heath Miller.

He was called Big Ben for a reason. His listed weight was 240, but listed weights are a total lie. His rookie season he may have weighed 240, but later on he went as high as probably 275 or so. Especially as the seaason went on, he would start each season clean shaven weighing 255 ish, but inevitably get a beard and 20 extra pounds by december. Dont know what any of these weights are in metric. He was also 6'5". That's half the reason he was so good at breaking out of tackles. The other half was his scrambling ability and surprising athleticism for his size. Man had an accurate cannon of an arm, played 18 seasons all with Pittsburgh. The bumblebee jerseys were a throwback jersey they wore once each season for about 8 years. As fans we loved them because I think we won every game in them. That Colts game was one of his best, insane statline.

As a Steelers fan, we were spoiled for almost 2 decades by having one of the greatest QBs of all time who played Steeler Football like a pro. He was so damn big and made a joke of defense pass rush as he stiff armed and escaped what in most cases would be a sack and he turns them into TDs. Edit: and those Throwback uniforms are abysmal but it's fun seeing the old jerseys once in a while.

18 year career, all in pittsburgh. 6'5 250 and he won two super bowls in the first half of his career playing back yard football. the second half of his career he lost in the superbowl to aaron rodgers and then 84 came to town and they put together one of the best 6 year runs statistically of all time for a qb-wr duo. retired two years ago, his last game in pittsburgh is fun to watch with the ovation the crowd gave. he definitely had some inexcusable behavior off the field early in his career and his personality rubs many people the wrong way, but he did mature a lot. doesnt get the respect he deserves as one of the greats in the manning-brady era.

The thing about Big Ben that i always loved was his toughness as a QB. I Remember in one game the ravens broke his nose and they still won the game. Dude would play injured all the time and still perform. I'd also always say that when Ben would hold the ball i knew it was getting cought because he'd hold the ball only until a guy was open.
