I looked that Jackery unit up and sadly, it costs about $1000. That would be my camping budget for the whole year! LOL! I do enjoy watching his videos and he does have some cool camping items, just some are rather expensive. The cool Balmuda LED lantern costs a whopping $130. I find that ridiculous for a lamp. The Thanko Rice cooker is about $100, which seems a bit pricey. The dretec stove is a more reasonable $100. But comparing that to the Petit gas stove he used to use, that is only $55. Granted you don't have to buy gas going all electric, but the initial outlay does seem to be pretty steep going with the items he is using. At first I thought that having the boiling pot, rice cooker and the stove would be redundant, but having a backup is good and further, the current draws are different per item and that can come into play with conserving power on the Jackery unit.

Yeah it has been a real wake up call that even a no build build can take some serious coin to ramp up if one isn't using propane. Another camper bought a Bluetti and it is serving her well at a slightly lower cost. I'll post her channel in a moment.

@@GinaKayLandis Well, I have seen many other campers use gas based stoves inside their trucks or even a tent and they are still around today, so if one is careful, it is definitely a cheaper alternative to go. Granted all electric is safer and possibly cheaper down the road as those Jackery units can be hooked up to a solar panel. With the latter being said, one could probably get by with the model below which is a 500 watt unit. That would be pushing things with the stove as it gets close to that figure, but it costs half as much. Still $500 is pretty steep. In a later video, I do see the OP using a different battery generation system. So I don't know if he is doing that for live review purposes or if his Jackery unit failed. That would be surprising as supposedly Jackery is one of the best portable generator units out there.

@@GinaKayLandis I have noticed this fellow using at least three different units. It is possible that he might have received the Jackery (and other units) on loan from the company to review them. I really don't think he would want to lay out the cost for three of these units when he really only needs one. Personally, I think I would go with a smaller unit for a weekend campout and that would power a small rice cooker or something like the water boiler, but for a stove, I would stick with a gas one kind of like the small Petit one he used to use or a Jet Boil. The latter supposedly can boil a couple liters of water in just over 2 minutes and you get about 26 boilings on a small tank of gas. So doing the math, a gas stove is certainly cheaper to run.
