Sereiouly tho, I have this friend whose parents are a primary school teacher and own a company so her house is a lot more nicer and prettier than mine when my mum is on minimum wage and only gets £140 per month for child maintenance from my dad in America, buying a house and living in a house in those conditions isn’t as easy as it looks. You become homeless and when you try and find a job, you can’t because they have seen you sleeping in doorways then you feel everything getting worse and it’s not a nice feeling

Timothy really said he traveled to third world countries to see what it's like to be poor. That has to be the most tone deaf thing I’ve ever heard on the internet. He will never nor will he ever experience what third world country poor is like for a single second of his life. Same thing as when privileged college girls go to third world countries to take pictures with the kids...

Yup, totally agree! I'm from a third world country who was born in a garbage dump. And I just can't with these comments. Never in his life and other privileged lives will ever know the pain, the struggle, that people in third world country have to face. I got lucky and was adopted.

You’re missing the point and once again projecting your insecurities upon the rich. He acknowledged that he did not grow up poor so he doesn’t fully understand the experience. Him going to third world countries is not a way for him to assert his dominance over then but to acquire perspective from those living in those destitute conditions. Of course never having personally experienced first hand is not the same as attempting to experience it second hand but the comment served as him *trying* to understand the struggles poor people go through, which he clearly stated he has a hard time understanding (which should not be a bad thing). And when he said he was envious of the other millionaires upbringing, he wasn’t saying he wished to grow up being destitute and wretched poor like those in 3 world countries. He was saying he wished he had the opportunity to endure some of the struggles his fellow millionaires went through, because it could help him appreciate his current status more and provide more perspective to those less fortunate than him.

Then don't be poor? Simple as that. Unless you have a disability or you're carrying someone else’s weight, then it's not your fault. Everybody can get rich if they understand it's not always about school and getting a career. If you're a 16 year old and your parents are extremely broke, it is achievable to get rich by working your ass off and getting into real estate / business / etc. But most people don't put the effort in, you can take 90 hour weeks being drained, but people dont.

He will always be scoffed at whenever he complains about life. These type of videos don't really afford an opportunity to give context to what people are saying. However, the question clearly meant poor as in “not having money”. If you lived in a penthouse while getting domestically abused, that is awful and I am so sorry that happened to you...but you weren’t poor. It’s a bad experience but that also wasn’t the question. It’s like being “my parents got divorced when I was young”, again, it sucks, but it’s not about being poor.

Like happiness doesn't have anything to do with being poor. Poor is not a mindset. It's a financial reality. Poor people can be happy, but still be poor. They face different struggles. Rich people can be sad and depressed, but their struggles are different in life. Poor is something in and of itself that you have to experience to know. Saying she's never been poor because she was happy is bull. she's probably never been poor period. saying they were broke, but really what does she mean by that? come on.

Even though there are a lot of people living at or below the poverty line, millionaires are slowly becoming the “everyday average people” as more people reach that level. In comparison to how rich the mega-wealthy are. There are lots of people out there that would make Bill Gates and the lot look average by comparison. The amount of wealth that’s out there is insane.

@@enriqueisaacs8181 let me put this in perspective since “trillions (of dollars) a day” is a substantial overexaggeration for all but a few companies. these millionaires made at least a million dollars in their lifetime by definition. for a multibillion dollar company to increase their worth by another billion in a year requires a few millions of dollars per day.

Out of the group only the person who was leaving the country showed up. Now if no one had shown up, would I have been bummed yeah. No I disagree. Money allowed them to buy things that would make them happy. Graham is just a completely different person and having money doesn't affect his happiness. Depends on the definition of being successful. If it's just to get a lot of money you can just (as a poor person) go and rob jewelry stores or banks. If you're black or white or a man or a woman doesn't matter, because there are always ways that you can get a lot of money from. Sure, if you're filthy rich you are going to have it easier to get more money since you've already got that momentum going, but if you're poor you are going to have it a bit harder finding ways but it still won't be a huge problem that is unsolvable.

Well, there is one thing I admire about them: being self-disciplined enough to work hard. The concept of chasing challenges is basically my life philosophy. But… the endgoal of obtaining material goods is pretty low. I’m currently chasing the educational opportunities. But I’m not having high opinion about myself either. Huge respect to all those whose goals are purely altruistic. Still… Could you imagine what would the world be like if all those people in this video directed their energy in becoming best scientists possible? And yes: I understand that being able to chase your educational opportunities is not accessible to everyone. Shoutout to my country where all education (including university education) is free.
