We read news in the media that doom and gloom is coming and we just accept it, doom and gloom doesn’t always have to be coming, I’ve read numerous success stories of people that are pulling off tremendous gains of up to $250K within weeks in this crazy market and I just want to learn how to achieve such figures.

Since the crash, I've been in the red. I’m playing the long term game, so I'm not too worried but Jim Cramer mentioned there are still a lot of great opportunities, though stocks has been down a lot. I think the concept of “hard work” is one that isn’t clearly defined in America. My dad worked 2 full time jobs at grocery stores, and could barely pay the mortgage when I was growing up. There’s also unpaid labor, such as caring for your children that isn’t discussed when it comes to “working hard.” People everywhere “work hard” to survive, raise their kids etc. I think that the people who do become wealthy are better at working the system instead of simply “working harder” than the average person.

but what determines working hard? You say that because your dad had 2 full time jobs at a grocery store, he was a hard worker. But (i mean no offense by this at all) could your dad have studied and put himself in a position for a better job that earns him more money? I'm not saying every rich person works hard, (most of them do tho), but some people can make incorrect decisions in their early life and are then forced to "work hard" and pay for those mistakes. That doesnt mean they deserve to be rich.

I liked the fact that one of the millionaires admitted that he keeps pursuing more money because of an ever-present fear of not having enough. I would love to see a study of 'self-made' millionaires who are doing what they are doing because of childhood financial trauma. What self-made millionaires don't realize is that there are millions of other people just like them who didn't make it. If it worked for you doesn't mean that it will work for others. That's the American delusion. A lot of hospital don’t even provide maternity leave to employees. Learned this the hard way. I’m not a nurse, but a surgical technologist. My hospital wouldn’t offer me even unpaid maternity leave. They told me I could use FMLA or offer to pick up extra shifts for my coworkers in exchange for them covering for me when I have my baby. I didn’t qualify for FMLA because I was shy of a year at the hospital when my baby was due. I asked around within the medical field and this is completely normal in the US. There's a book I read recently "The Millionaire Next Door" and basically people who inherit a million dollars are less likely to hold on to the money because millionaires are actually a lot more frugal if they have to earn it. It never matters how much you make, someone who makes 60k can become a millionaire by saving, and someone who makes 100k can be in debt because of their lifestyle (expensive cars, clothes, houses, food, etc). i.e. 10:13

But if you're rich it's easy to get richer. You've a guy saying: Give me 50,000 and I give you 75,000 back in 3 months. And it works. There is always a "guy" who is smart enough to make money if he gets money in the first place. You buy smart people and tose them away when they become useless. So I just dusted off excel and did the math. Based on earning median salaries (interpolated based on age) throughout your entire working life, starting from the age of 17, if you only ever spent equal to minimum wage and saved all of your other earnings (all calculations are after tax), you would finally be a millionaire when you are 66 (the year before retirement). It's a loose estimation with an assumption that median salaries would match inflation but what it comes down to is that the average US citizen (who would reach a 60K salary by the time they're 46) will basically never be a millionaire working a regular job and not investing in a portfolio.

As a waitress and Mom of 3. I have always struggled with money, but I have enough for my needs. The only time I truly struggle is when I spend money on things that I don’t need or that my kids don’t really need. Then we get in the habit of fulfilling those wants and it never being enough. Those wants will never fully satisfy us, we will always desire more. I want to give my kids everything but now in my thirties I would rather give them stability and to buy a home with a backyard and for my kids to have their own rooms like when I grew up. But in order for that to happen I need to be strong and grounded in order not to splurge on the little things in order to save money and improve my credit score.

I've always felt whenever giving came Into discussions, it always about money, and that has made me feel inadequate in most cases, but the lady really helped me realize that giving isn't always financial, it could be physical, emotional, mental. It's just sad that this other aspects of giving aren't fully appreciated or recognized.

Probably because we have this generalization that people who are millionaires are assholes or at least young people who are millionaires. But you can see that they aren't, infact they look like every day people, they don't wear suits or brand name clothings or watches as we usually picture millionaires. Although I do think some of their belief anyone can be rich if they work hard is faulty. If you want to be rich, you got to work hard and smart, but also have luck and choosing the right path(kids, career, spending/saving).

Thank you for your informative channel, lots of great advice and like you I err on the side of prudence. I’m EXACTLY like you in regard to finances and it drives those around me insane. I won’t live according to my means, I live way way below my means out of a deep seated fear of destitution. The horror of drowning financially has kept my budget the same now as it was when I was broke. I wear clothes until they fall apart; I cut my own hair and drive cars until 200,000+ miles. People think I’m broke until I mention portfolios or a Roth IRA. Basically there’s two kinds of people, savers and spenders and when I was quite poor I fantasized that one day I’d be a spender but like you said that day comes and the excitement over a purchase has faded and the true “excitement” is knowing you’ve got stability.

Half of them are millionaires so yea that almost guarantees they will be smart and or hard working
@PrometheusXV
@PrometheusXV 5 жыл бұрын
@@dr.martinlroberts1908 There are millionaires by inheritance. Edit: For those of you struggling, let's break this statement down There are (as in describing the existence of something; an undisclosed group, exists) millionaires (now defining the aforementioned [previous] group) by inheritance (a feature describing how said group came to exist). So, a bit easier to read this time "There exist people who became millionaires by inheritance" An incorrect way to interpret this statement might be "They are millionaires by inheritance", which would be defining a specific subset of the group "millionaires", which in this instance would likely refer to those featured in the video. An important factor in being able to parse (break down) this sentence is understanding the difference between the words "They" and "There", and their different uses. Now, normally people get confused between "Their", "There", and "They're", which is why this is typically taught in first or second grade, so as to help prevent children from being functionally illiterate (which means to not have a literary capacity to a particular standard). Most of the people reading my comment seem to have missed that lesson though, I'll just assume it's because you're all so bright that you skipped both first and second grade.

I definitely think circumstances and backgrounds and having certain privledges makes it more accessible to be rich. I've spent the majority of my teenage years up to my 30s working jobs that I've slowly moved up in. It's been hard to say the least but I've had debts I had to pay off for both my mum and dad. So in a way I can relate to things like giving up on a social life but in others I just don't think it's at all possible until you have made the right connections as one of the girl puts it. Networking is often more important.

@@user-ps7ij6ge6d Surely you must have noticed there is a pretty large difference between the average public school kid and homeschooled kid. Obviously, individual characteristics and circumstances will shape your interactions with specific people, but generally speaking, homeschoolers are substantially more socially awkward, have less (or no) friends, but are much more likely to excel in one subject or ability (like music or math) since their curriculum can be tailored specifically for them

@@xokkumaOh I agree, I think students don't understand teachers either. There are some real bad eggs in both groups but students tend to forget that teachers are people with emotions and problems of their own and are just trying to do a job and teachers forget what it was like being a teenager when literally anything else is more important to them than the class. Idk, maybe its the disconnect between what people are willing(allowed) to share when they are in school (both students and teachers).

So I’m 21 and have obviously been a student. I now work as youth worker with disengaged teenagers so I see both points of view as I may not be an official teacher but I still have a lot of the same responsibilities. The biggest issue for teenagers in schools is that that do not feel listened to or respected by teachers and I understand I felt as a teenager I was a number for a teacher to tick off to get an increase in their pay check if I passed but as I am in this teaching role now it’s not so much the person, believe me I have met some teachers who hate children and I have no idea why they are teaching, but the time and economic constraints they are under. You are one person with a class of 25+ trying to teach them the lesson and deal with the emotions of them and the behaviours. It is really difficult and such a complex balance. I think, I am sometimes guilty of this myself, when you become an adult and you mature you forget what it was like to be a teenager and the issues they face seem illogical to the issue we face. Adult professionals need to be more empathetic towards student but again it’s down to the government and funding. Again teenagers, not all, are ignorant and don’t see teachers as people who are under a magnitude of stress. As I said it’s a balance that needs to be fixed.

Also I remember what it was like as a kid and I went into teaching so some students wouldn't have the same experience I had. Boy, did I not realise how much pressure was put on teachers though.

That shame often creates a lot of hate within people. It’s understandable but it isn’t the right mentality to have. As a minimum wage worker I’ve worked with people like her and I often find that people like that can be very negative. There’s an energy you get from them that just wants to destroy your drive. In other words if they see you succeeding they often do everything they can to stop you from improving just because it goes against their belief that people in the trenches can make it. Your success comes off as a threat to them because it shakes their worldview.

Test tube babies aren't genetically altered. The closet thing we have to test tube babies right now is where you make a bunch of embryos, test the genes (the only genes which are tested are sex chromosomes and some of the genes which can lead to the development of an illness), and then implant the one with the most "desirable" genes

CanadianBoYY yeah. I don’t know why though. Most people who are allergic to cats get a sphinx. Maybe that’s why she got it? 🤷‍♀️. I don’t understand. People think that Sphinx cats stop allergies because they have been selectively bred that way for science labs. But it’s not just the fur that can set of someone’s allergies. The oils in their skin can set someone off too. Most people who are allergic to cats by Sphinx, realise they are still allergic due to the skin and often get rid of them or give them away. So sad. Most people spend about 4 K to get a Sphinx which to those who do get rid of it, have practically wasted a lot of money. Or maybe she just likes that kind of breed. Personally I like the rag doll breed. Or even better dogs.
