Asian immigrant parents are pretty hardcore, at least most of asians i was hanging with. Me and my older bro got beaten many time with random things laying around in the house. Sometimes it doesnt even hurt that bad and we just fake the crying so they can stop quicker. Fun scary times lol, weird how now my parents are super chill and loving with the grandkids

Growing up in the SGV all my Asian homies can vouch that they DO get hit at home, no matter how old they are!!! 😂😂😂 You wonder why Asians usually are respectful and get good grades? Cuz there are plenty of at-home whoopin’s that reinforce that behavior. 😂😂😂😂

back when i was young probably 5 or 6. While still in Hong Kong, I was caught forge signing my parent's signature to avoid getting beat for having bad test grades. my dad found out. he then used a 2x4 and hit my hand and made me kneel in front of my passed away grandpa's picture for like 3hours. it was wild.

I was “disciplined” by mom, dad and uncle growing up. Belt, wooden stick from kitchen, ruler, shoe, you name it, probably all of it. I got the endless lectures too. I’m a Korean-American woman. When I was growing up in the LA area, none of the Asian girls around me were disciplined. I always resented them and my parents cuz I was treated worse than my brother. He rarely got disciplined the way I did.

well, when you got older siblings who got beat and lack emotional intelligence and healthy way to release their frustrations so then beat you for fun or b/c they feel your pain is less compared to theirs, and an occasional ass whooping by parents (though, technically my father only hit me once, but the bamboo stick freakin hurt), as a female I’d say its on par

I really doubt any Asian parents will toss chopstick, unless his parents are not traditional e.g. parents that are Americanized 3rd gen immigrants or what not, otherwise they are taught to be respectful to chopsticks as superstitious, they would get wope by their parents if they toss a single chopstick. e.g. Pointing chopsticks at people: This resembles funeral rites and is considered a grave insult. Crossing chopsticks: In some cultures, crossed chopsticks symbolize death. Sticking chopsticks upright in a bowl of rice: This resembles incense offerings to the deceased and is considered disrespectful. Therefore why would they throw a bunch or chopsticks at their son? and secondly they would have to pick them up after, they are not going to do that. going to stick with the hanger and the wooden stick dusters. throwing chopsticks sounds like BS joke he made it up on his own. unless his mom and dad are already American etc.

I was more independent than my younger brother growing up. I think because 1. He’s the baby of the family. 2. I was born in Peru and lived there till I was 8 years old. In Peru kids grow faster, maybe because everything is walking distance.
