I'm worried that there's another reason the dog didn't bark in the night. I'm worried that it is because the dog didn't care because the investigation has the predetermined outcome of doing nothing. This seems likely in the House, and while the Senate has thus far seemed more independent, there's no proof that those Republicans are going to do their duty. When all three branches of government are controlled by the same ideological spectrum, as is about to happen, the checks and balances system disappears in terms of protecting the minority party. When individuals in one branch see themselves as working for the leader of another branch, the system is breaking down. Perhaps the founding fathers weren't as smart as we thought.
