Anyone who has ever watched a house cat in ecstasy with cat nip, knows these cats are having the same reaction. Rolling around, grabbing at their own back feet, rubbing themselves on fences or whatever is available, swatting at each other before falling down and stretching and rolling some more. Like a dog on fish guts, except slower and stoned looking.
@tekobari11 жыл бұрын
Jassica Thant: Catnip is a mint, like basil, peppermint, etc., called Nepeta cataria. You can tell a mint by their stems, which aren't round, but four-sided, like a square. There is also catmint, a different Nepeta. Some cats react to both, but catnip is MUCH more powerful--that is, for those cats who respond to it. In domestic kitties, only about 70% do. Moreover, kittens don't respond at all until they're older. Response tends to "grow" as they get to be around 8 months old. If they aren't responding by one year old, they probably never will. Start giving your cat catnip when s/he's about seven months old, then once a week from then on until you see a response. All they need is about a teaspoon to get high, but I like to gather fresh from outside and throw down a huge pile of it. They eat it, roll in it, lick it, flop over, rub their backs all over in it, then run around the house for a while. Finally, they're all tuckered out and sleep. Good luck!

It’s actually kind of strange to me that people wonder about the similarities of big cats and regular domesticated small cats. They are pretty much exactly the same, just smaller. Your domesticated cat still has every wild instinct and behavior a tiger or lion has. There is a reason they are called “big cats”, because it’s just that simple, they are merely just bigger cats. You basically just have tiny lions running around your house, lol.

That was not Nikita with Joseph. He had a companion names Sasha, but she passed away a few years ago.

I think the wilder they are the more they react. I've have had many cats over my lifetime and loved them all till they went over the bridge. But I'd say only a third reacted to it. The hardest reaction was my current one, Pixel, and he get loopy stoned on it, so much so I only allow him a bit every two weeks.

Sometime try giving them Valerian root. Stinks to high heaven but has a similar effect on cats.

Cole and Marmalade's owner used to be our media producer for several years. He is no longer with the company.

I must complement you. You have many beautiful animals. I understand it is difficult to take care of all of them. But the rewards are awesome. I love the tigers. Big little kittens.
