Do Bonsai forests have to follow the rules to look realistic? This hawthorn group doesn't

Fan from Massachusetts, USA! Great video. As a beginner, I learn something new every video! And the touch of sense of humor makes them real! Keep them coming!!

I love this grouping!!! Our native Garry oaks will grow in a similar contorted manner in dry coastal areas or on rocky hill tops. I can't get enough of staring at these copses - they paint a pretty haunted image on a foggy autumn day - especially when you can hear the fog horns sounding in the distance.

I'm a big Bonsai forest fan, I've grown some crab apple seedlings tempted to plant a forest with them. ❤ cheers Tony 🍻

Nice little group that Tony. Do like a hawthorn. There is a very very old one near where I live and local pagan group use it as a place of offering and worship. Lovely to see a tree being cared for

I'm not the only one to think that your forest looks spooky! I thought of a story I read years ago, The Island of Doctor Moreau. It was a very strange place, and I imagine the trees were all twisted and tortured into unnatural shapes like these. I'm trying to give you a compliment!

I love hawthorn as their cuttings grow quite easily and take wire well, and old one makes a good bonsai. Just be aware of the thorns. My goat willow are not doing well but not undoing until spring at the earliest. You are doing so good with your output, I love to hear you say Wecome...,,,,. Keep growing.xx

This planting inspired me to put together some twisty young apple seedling to make a "sleepy hollow" type planting. Great to see the development, even if it is only 6 months or so along. As mine is only just bare rooted, it will be a few months before I can start pruning, but I am really looking forward to it. Enjoy the lamb!

This is just how alders look in heavy snow load areas in Idaho mountains. Looks pretty natural to me. Another example of your maverik and natural approach to this artful hobby.

I have several oak forests that look just like that and in truth many sections of forest seem to grow this way naturally - especially on the roadside plantings where it all gets very congested and twisted. I think it looks just like you have taken a snapshot of trees from a larger group. Hope the lamb was good. Cheers
