Lovely video. With all the hatred of English people against immigrants being shown in the media, it made me happy to see English people who are tolerant and open minded, old and young, from all strata of society. This is the England that I always though I loved, and that made us unique.

What being overrun by immigrants to the point where the country doesn't look like England? Do we do the same to other countries?
@mrpoxycat39678 ай бұрын
Yeah, it's also the reason that in 100-200 years people will read about you in history books, while living in England.

I've lived in the UK on and off for over 10 years and my opinion always was it was a mistake to let foreigners like me in in the first place. There was no need for half million Polish in 2004 etc. Now the economy has adjusted and the supply of cheap labour force is essential to keep things going. In other words why payrise for a factory job when they can always get hundreds of eastern Europeans willing to work for minimum pay instead. I think it's really bad for a working class British family. Companies profit from cheap labour. It may create more competitive market for products by reducing the costs of labour to minimum and therefor supply a cheaper product onto the market, but what is it good for when every year there is less and less you can afford as a worker on national minimum. I think immigration is very bad for working class people.

I have no problem with it really as long as they come legally To be honest. I am surprised how british people are so logical and honest in this situation. If the individuals will be able to adapt to the society, get a job and pay the taxes, don't commit any crime and serious violations, why not then. That really helps to UK to become multicultural and diverse country as well as to boost economical growing. I love British people's approaches, I love UK more now obviously Thanks Arnaud to make this awesome video. You made my day mate

"Get them here; get them paying taxes." But how many ? Let us suppose that the average person in the UK pays 5 grand a year in tax. An extra million people, then, will raise an extra 5 billion quid in tax. an extra 10 million people will raise an extra 50 billion pounds in tax. So heck, why not bring in another 100 million people and raise an extra 500 billion quid in tax ? You`ll see the rather daft thinking with this idea. We do not have the physical space ( let alone superstructures ) to take in millions more people. "We`re all foreigners," one lady says. Tell that to the United States - the vast majority of them being Europeans, but you don`t see that country opening up its vastly less densely populated land to other Europeans. I`m not entirely against immigration into the UK but those that come must be in possession of a skill that is in very short supply here. There are a million unemployed Britons here that are well capable of picking strawberries.....

Arnaud, can you tell us what were you expecting? Did the answers surprise you? Do you think people in mainland Europe would be surprised by these answers?
@ArnaudFromFrance11 ай бұрын
Hi Darkmatter, thanks for the question, so basically i was expecting answers to be a bit more negative towards foreigners in UK since i feel like in the media racism is a big topic, but in reality i was pleasantly surprised by the answers of people i interviewed, open minded and welcoming towards the idea of foreigners in UK. I think in Europe people could get surprised since i feel like Europeans have that stereotypes about Old British being super racist.
@darkmatter671411 ай бұрын
@@ArnaudFromFrance I never understood that stereotype. Think about how many people of influence, not just sports stars, but celebrities (Billy Ocean, Idris Elba, Naomi’s Harris, Naomi Campbell, Sade, John Boyega, etc) and politicians of high standing (Rishi Sunak, Sidiq Khan, etc) there have been over the years. What kind of racist society would allow racial minorities to reach such heights? People don’t join the dots.

My girlfriend is a model immigrant and a net positive. She works a highly technical job, saving lives in the NHS. Speaks better English than me, kind of 1940s posh as she has elocution lessons and I'm from Yorkshire. She's loves the Royal Family and seen every episode of Only fools and horses. There are so many immigrants here who have no respect for the country or the people and the difficulties our ancestors went through which made this place we are all enjoying now. I've lived in some 3rd world countries. UK is superior in so many ways. Organisation, morality, laws against racism, abolishing slavery in the western world. Everyone wants to live here but not everyone deserves to and we owe the world nothing and deserve nothing but the best. Diversity of culture creates more crime. Thats a fact. There should be one culture here, the British culture. Get integrated and assimilated or you have so many other options else where
@niencat10 ай бұрын
Oh my you owe the world nothing as a country? Do you know why you have had so many immigrants in the first place? Do you know anything about the rape of cultures and the attempt to.kill peoples languages esp the Brits were guilty of? The Dutch(I am white and Dutch) and the Brits and the Spanish and the Portuguese made a lot of money in the slave trade and in fostering racism. British people became very rich because of slave trade and were able to stay rich for centuries because they could invest in other things later on, when slavery was formally abolished. Many of the problems in poor countries are the results of racism still. We Europeans set up the different people in a big region like the Indian subcontinent against one another. Same in Africa. Apartheid is a Dutch word and i am not proud of that fact. My mother was born in 1919. In a very very poor family. Her father came with his mother from Germany back to.the Netherlands, walking all the way, somewhere around 1900. My great grandparents had gone there to find a way to survive because they could not survive in the Netherlands. My.mother was the oldest of 6 and there was very little food and what was there went to the babies. She often had to skip meals because her mother gave it to.one of the younger children. It is not that long ago that our governments in Europe left most of their population to their own devices. We stole and plubdered where we could, we allied with other west European countries in this as well, made bonds and were economically more and more tied together, and we still profit from these former alliances. We still plunder if we can. Thanks tomEuropean immigrants to CanadZ,USA, Australia, New Zealand, esp after WW2 the native people there have far less than the white people there. We tried to suppress their culture, took away their language, took their children forcibly away from their parents, miles away, in residential schools.

You should ask 1000 people, and cover more areas, more diversity of people, and find out more depth to the question. Because this short segment does not represent the typical British elder at all. Inner city elders have had enough of foreigners, and its quite obvious, when even the 2nd generation immigrants are talking about it being enough. Too many doctors and nurses from abroad are not becoming doctors and nurses, rather turning to crime. These immigrants often send a significant portion of their "earnings" abroad to their native land, to support their families at their "real home". They are undermining Great Britain, and no amount of left wing shilling will keep the narrative all rainbows and fairy dust.
@Ghost5729 ай бұрын
I know every person this guy asked is coming out with the same old drool. Its either: - They bring resturants (we don't need millions to open a few curry houses) - they enrich the area but don't expand on it - they will help the NHS (somehow the NHS is still struggling despite large numbers coming in) That's about it, these people can't even give you one solid reason and the ones that sound semi normal like working and paying taxes don't play out the way you would expect it should do.
