Yes, a faithful Catholics SHOULD believe everything the Church teaches! She has been around for almost 2000 years and has ALL AUTHORITY from Christ to be protected from error. I used to be a "cafeteria" Catholic myself: I would pick and choose which teachings I liked and discarded the ones I didn't. This is error: if you want to disagree with the Church, go be a Protestant - there are over 30,000 different heretical churches you can fall in line with -or start your own!

the Pope has authority not final authority. You also have the same authority in your own life since you have to follow what God has show you to do. The Pope is not the final authority, Jesus is the corner stone and not the Pope. So I will stick with Jesus as the leader of the Church in heaven and earth. The Pope is a guide and teacher of what Jesus taught. No more, no less, and that is the authority he has. That is what Peter had and even Jesus told Peter to follow HIM, not another human.

I don't reject the role and authority of the Pope. I do not believe that the Pope is infallible since he is not God and only God is infallible. I do believe the Pope is a very important leader and is a leader in the Church of God. But until 1870 the Pope was not deemed infallible, what was he before that?? How does a Pope define himself as infallible? Circular Support is not how the Church should work. Counsel should only make definition and they are subject to change.

Also those who think of those who follow the Vatican thus do not think for themselves is also mislead. RCC teaches that human nature involves both reason and will and anything that limits our reason and will is against the dignity of our human nature. you can thank Ockham's nominalism for the current mentality that only human thought without God is more free than reason and will with God. It's actually the exact opposite.

The apologetic is not teaching this properly. Only that which has been infallibly taught, those things which are considered the doctrine of the faith or those that you are required to accept and believe. Women ordination is not an infallible teaching although it does appear in the CCC it is still not a doctrine of faith. You are not required to "believe" it infallibly but you should certainly not "teach" against it.

So quite the name calling and think and don't act like a fool and accept any teaching with out checking what Jesus taught and how Jesus lead Peter. Jesus is the key to the church and no Pope is God. God is God and Jesus is God in the flesh. The Pope is human, sin filled and completely fallible. Even humans filled with HS can make mistakes and sin in teaching and morals!!

With this kind of teachings that this film proposes, the slave in the US would all be slaves still. Roman Catholic would be Jews. So I choose to follow Jesus and even be hated by the likes of the small minded. People who do not challenge the so called truth are willing and able to be the blind leading the blind. That I do not wish to do or be.

Matthew 16:27-28 For the son of man is going to come in his fathers glory with his angels, and he will reward each person according to what he has done. We all have the right and responsibility to think and not believe everything that the Rome teaches. Has Rome never been wrong??? So, we better think, Jesus wants us to think, that is why God gave us a brain. Follow Jesus teaching and not Rome when Rome counters a teaching of Jesus.

The Church is the pillar of Truth and Faith, so we have to believe in all the Church teaches. The church is guided by The Holy Spirit and so it is infallible and so we must believe in all the church believes and teaches. Thanks for sharing. God bless †

@asonofdominic I am open to dialogue. I hope I did not come off as being too much of a jerk. I have been counseling some people who have been spiritually abused by both Catholic priests, and Protestant ministers.

@Smetch Which is exactly the type of religion Jesus so opposed. Plus that is why the orthodox church split from the Church. The Eastern Churches are more mystical while the Western Churches are more legalistic.

@asonofdominic I never said that EO never believed in church discipline. I just dont need someone else to get all dogmatic with me. OKAY. Im just doing observances from a biblical viewpoint.

the catechism (sp) is not scripture, it is the rules of the church. To be catholic you agree to the rules just like belonging to a golf club and agreeing not to wear shorts on the course

Boy, that would make the Church pretty small. I am never sure I met a real Catholic. Not to say that I do not agree with John.

@Hmm10023 the church does not make mistakes in its official teaching. Just because infallibility has only been invoked 2x doesnt mean those 2 things are the only 2 doctrines. Where is a ref. for Tradition can b changed? Tradition is Sacred. And Paul clearly tells us to hold on to it in scripture. In 1959 i believe that the World Council of Churches asked Pope John to give up on Sacred Tradition. His answer was "if i did that i wouldnt b christian no more."

Stupid? No. Uninformed? Yes! The problem with this video is that it fails to distinguish the hierarchy of truths and relationship between Scripture and Tradition. No teaching should be ignored or "torn out." But struggling with, doubting and questioning only shows a desire for truth. The minute you stop struggling is the minute you have closed your mind and heart to any new understanding. Faith builds on reason, it does not ask us to turn off our brains.

In Roman Catholic theology, Limbo (Latin limbus, edge or boundary, referring to the "edge" of Hell) is an idea about the afterlife condition of those who die in original sin without being assigned to the Hell of the damned. Limbo is not an official doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church or any other.

On April 22, 2007, the advisory body known as the International Theological Commission released a document, originally commissioned by Pope John Paul II, entitled "The Hope of Salvation for Infants Who Die without Being Baptized."[21]

You met one now. The answer to being a faithful Catholic is humility. To assume that one is wiser than a 2000 year old Church that has lived, breathed, and pondered the Gospel that entire time, is a true mark of arrogance to the point of delusion.

Not so. I identify with Peter and Paul and Jesus in all they taught to the Jews and gentiles. What I don't believe are the human teaching like the ever virgin Mary, the assumption of Mary or baby baptism. These teaching were never taught by Peter or Jesus. What I believe is what Jesus taught and if they were important, He would have. So please leave the true church and go back to Rome. The true Church follows Jesus and no one else. You have left the teaching of Jesus.

This is the dumbest statement that I have ever seen. The Church, believers in Jesus, and NOT Rome is the church. So now you have the right message.

The church is not infallible, only God is. The church is led by humans and humans even filled with the HS, can and do sin still. So if a human can sin, then the church can sin. So the church can never be infallible any more then a pope who is a person. Simple logic show you this. So you better know what you believe and follow it to your best abilities following the guidance of the HS. Each person will be judged at the last judgement and not the church as a group. know the theology.
