Good young lad with good knowledge. Keep learning. I have this same reader just made by Autel. MS300. Got it for $11 on eBay. Good little code reader.

Great video, Thanks, I bought the same tool but in Canada it cost me $33 at KMS Tools. Now I got to find this annoying evap leak...I put on a new gas cap, and tightened the screws on the pipe, but still the code returns....

That's a frustrating problem. My dads truck kept throwing the same code. He just got where he ignored it.

They sell them cheap OBDII scanners in Canada practically every 2nd week in our chain automotive joints. I've never considered them to be worth much, but I never spent the time shopping them out either. GOOD DEMO, lesson learned.

doesn't the vehicle need to be driven for certain miles to ensure engine light won't come back on?

The Walmart where I live has a identical one in every way even the color. I don't remember how much it was I was in a hurry to pick up ink cartridges for my printer. LOL my fancy HP printer my mom got me for Christmas on a black Friday sale for 19.99. I do remember passing by it and thinking dang that's cheap but then it left my mind. To many stressed out printer thoughts.

Get a similar one at WalMart, the Hyper Tough (Branded) model HT 309 for $20. Looks very similar BUT it defines the codes ONSCREEN! For $20! Just bought mine yesterday. Shows pending codes, Freeze Frame Data, clears codes and CEL. For $20? Come on.

Gary Quinn I love it for the price. I couldn't justify spending $100 for a reader when you can have codes read for free at Oriellys or Autozone.

nice video only negative is you use TURN IT OVER PHRASE to turn the key. to most of us over 40, turn it over means crank the engine as when someone calls us broke down we ask is it turning over? to acess the battery, starter condition.

So it does not display code definition?? Just the p0 number??
@SilveradoNtheStang5 жыл бұрын
carlitos ducoing no it doesn’t display the code definition. I’m pretty sure that you can find one for the same price that does. It was a year or two ago when I bought it.
@Wolfie10382 жыл бұрын
Nice video but you didn't rescan to see if the code came back or if cleaning the air flow thing fixed the problem. All you did was clear the code and didn't scan again.
@triparadox.c5 жыл бұрын
I want to ask one question. I am new to Fix Your Car Yourself kind of stuff, but I think the error lights are there to indicate that there might be something wrong? Why do you, and other people, like to erase it? Shouldn't you just keep fixing each of the clues the system was giving and it would clear on its own?
@SilveradoNtheStang5 жыл бұрын
Triparadox Clifford yes the point is to fix them then clear the code. In this video I fixed the problem. Codes can go away after you fix them too but it takes a few drive cycles. It’s quicker to erase it and see if it comes back or not.
@triparadox.c5 жыл бұрын
@@SilveradoNtheStang I have a follow up question: We know that, for example P0300, means an issue with multiple cause. What if we change the ignition coil and think it's all done where there is another problem other than the coil? For example the cables and the spark plugs? Won't it actually cause more problem since we can no longer know that the problem is 100% fixed?
@SilveradoNtheStang5 жыл бұрын
Triparadox Clifford it will throw the code again if the problem persists.
