I just upgraded from a Windcraft Soprano Sax to a Selmer Series II and tbh, that Windcraft was beautiful and would suit many peoples needs. It's only because I wanted a different tone and a bit more sturdy intonation up top that I upgraded, but I highly recommend the Windcraft to everyone! £800 :)

I tried to pick up soprano a few months ago after finding your channel but I only recently found out my school’s only soprano has a key permanently stuck open, making it always a half step sharp. I’ve thought about getting my own, but I really don’t know how to navigate the saxophone market. Are there any really good student sopranos for ~$1000 or less? If so, how may I find them? Are still plastic sound. Put dukoff mouthpiece, metal resonators in both and nice Pizoni pads. The sound will kill actually YSS 475-II and test again ;-)

Hey man. Love your youtube page. Eventually, I'd like to shell out 2k or more on a nice soprano but right now I only want to spend about $500. It seems i can only find the really cheap ones or really expensive.. no in between. Im a self proclaimed multi-instrumentalist. I play guitar by ear and I can read notes a little. Been doing so since 2006 or so. I can play bass and piano as well. I used to play clarinet in middle school but never liked the tone enough to keep playing it. I love those sound of soprano sax.. loved Kenny G as a kid and now as an adult I like John Coletrane and a few others too.. I really want to learn soprano asap

What about ease of use? I mean: pushing keys is smoother? What about the keys of the grave notes? c#, c, b, and Bb?

Yes, that’s true. The good news is that you can start learning on any saxophone. Even the cheapest ones will work well enough for beginners to use.

For the tests I was using a beechler HR 7 mouthpiece for both saxes.

B was very slightly stuffier, but it was nothing substantial and I wouldn't be surprised if it was to something unscientific (not to say the video is unscientific, perfecting each factor meticulously is impossible)

If you are buying for a 5th grader, or just a new hobby for seniors, I would go with the cheap one from Amazon.
