How's your duck season going? Hopefully its been better than ours has been thus far. We've been holding onto this video for hard times so we figured it'd be a good time to put it up. Hope you guys enjoy it!

1st things 1st. We I have been involved in many Search & Rescue missions. 1 Neoprene does help you float, and helps keep you warm. In my 30 years in the U.S. Coast Guard, most of the bodies we recovered with Waders were of the PVC type, and 75% of the others factors played a major roll in the persons death..... such as Drugs & Alcohol. I have actually practice getting waders of in the water, and it can be done if you don't PANIC! All of our Heavy Weather Survival outfits were NEOPRENE. We could actually float in those Suits, with any life vest at all. Anyone really concerned about getting there Waders or anything else off in a MISHAP in the water should ALWAYS carry a KNIVE, cutting anything and everything away from your person.... don't panic and CUT yourself in the process. Most cases of Water MISHAPS are Human Error, or Ignorance! I personally would try and cut the BOOTS off 1st while I had the energy, which in turn would leave you wearing a pair of bib coveralls, which I feel may be beneficial. Anyway, always have a KNIFE with you.... being in and on the Water can be fun.... as long as you use common sense and steer clear of mind & judgement .....altering substances.

Thank you! I will go with neoprene for safety.

Great video. However I feel like the drowning or getting sucked under would be more so if you were say fishing in a river and there was current added to the equation . However it's good to know that there is no real risk in the situation you just showed! . Which is great for me and my buddies who go out wheeling and get in some deep holes .

I got stuck for several hours in quicksand while wearing my hip waders - nightmare situation, but live to tell the tale

Neoprene no. The cheap PVC/Nylon with built on boots yes. They get air bubbles at the toe of the boots and the boots flip you upside down in deep water causing you to to be able to surface with your head. -< Speaking from experience from fishing in the Maumee river in early March.

Ok, so I fish from a kayak during warm weather, and I duck hunt but never from a kayak for this EXACT reason. Thank you!

It would be a different story with breathable or pvc waders. Neoprene is full if tiny gas bubbles and float.

My son is 13 and he wants to get waders. Do you think it is a good idea

I was about his age when I got my first set. I feel like you need to be there when he’s hunting till he’s not a youth anymore though, to teach him safe habits.

We actually have a new hunting video that's going up tomorrow! But yeah man its been the worst start to a season that we have seen in a long time here in KY. Hopefully January will be better, its usually the best part of the year for us.

I could be wrong but i think the point is in water with a current
@TheQuackAddicts3 жыл бұрын
Agreed, I definitely wouldn't want to fall in water with a current wearing waders.
