Do "De-reverb" plugins actually work? iZotope RX De-reverb vs Waves Clarity Vx.
I'm working on a collab tune and a friend of mine (‪@koryjames8361‬ ) and he sent me a processed guitar part. So I figured I'd try a few de-reverb plugins.

Long comment, but here we go: So, RX as a whole is a bit different of a tool than perhaps what Clarity Vx is attempting to be. RX is more of a post-production tool for film and podcasts and the like. Its tools will work for music applications, but they're not especially practical for a simple and easy workflow. I should first say that like a lot of iZotope plugins, the reset to default is well, by default, the first option in the presets list. You can reset to the default settings there. The second thing is that you would probably not train the 'Learn' feature on the entire audio that you're trying to remove the reverb from. It works best when you train it on a bit of the room noise, some of the core signal and the reverb trails - so you would select a few seconds at the end of the guitar might work better, like from the last few seconds of the guitar, it's reverb trail and the decay. Sort of the same deal as their noise reduction plugins - you'd want to train them on the noise you want to remove, not the combined signal. For music applications, the Waves plugin is definitely the easier of the two to use and is hitting way above its weight. I think that if you really need heavy duty reverb removal, the standalone RX plugin might do a better job. The Accentize plugins are good too, but feel a little behind the curve now.

Oh cool, my trial is still active, I’ll try to use ‘learn’ as you described. Too bad they don’t make it a standalone though.

And Clarity Vx Dereverb is meant and designed for Voice only, so imagine how much better it actually is when used “properly”
You don't need the new iZotope RX11…
