This is releasing at $1699 NZD which converts to about $1450 CAD. $845 CAD locally is not expensive comparatively. In your opinion, what are better options for that price point?
@cleverdood2 күн бұрын
Wow, that’s crazy! The Titan 50 ($650 here ) or 70 ( which is 1100 here ) are probably the only real competition. The TD 07 is $1300-$1400 or so. On second thought I think Alesis did price this pretty well considering what you get. What do the Roland TD07s go for there?
@MarkArnoldMusic2 күн бұрын
@@cleverdood the titan 70 is the one I have my eye on for sure - but currently unavailable in NZ. It is $200usd more expensive than the nitro pro (but it does have an extra Tom). It’s actually cheaper for me to order from sweetwater and pay the $350usd direct shipping than buy locally. Madness. I’m a little cagey about hidden costs and support though.

Dang. Was stoked to upgrade my spark 40, but based on the sound of Spark 2 its a hard pass. Are you sure you matched the preset accordingly? The new spark sounds tinny, thin, and has no dimension to its sound. Sounds like you just turned the lows all the way down.
@cleverdood4 күн бұрын
Yes, they’re the same tones. I get what you mean, but the clarity and definition on the Spark 2 is so much better. The 40 sounds more “full” for sure, but it’s muddy, thick and lacks definition. That’s why I always used my THR instead of my 40. I’ll probably do another vid and do a couple more styles of tunes.

Great video man. I just got my Spark 2 in last Friday. Its my first Positive Grid gear. So I've been tinkering with it. The features are pretty good over all. The thi g with all digital modlers is the presence is terrible especially when you use mid to high gain amps. It sounds like a barrel or broken glass dropped on a steel floor. The EQ can compensate for it. The app is pretty good except I can't find out how to delete some of the files that I downloaded from the cloud. Some people have been posting you get 39 amp models and so many effects, actually you get 36 amps and several effects but you have to pay for the rest. 50 watts not really it's more like 12.5 per channel. My 30 watt Tweed blows it away. It's a little over rated and over priced. But over all it does sound great.
@cleverdood2 күн бұрын
The more I play it, I’d also say the breakup isn’t really good, the THR seems to do a better job at that. I was avoiding doing a more in depth test since there’s so many out there, but I’m more curious now.

I have a Sire L7V with P90s and it's one of the finest instruments I've ever laid my hands on but my S7 is dreadful, it literally can't be tuned correctly due to some problem that I still haven't been able to identify. It's got to the point where I just can't be bothered and feel like smashing the thing to pieces every time I try and fail to sort it out so I leave it in a case on the basis that one day I'll maybe pay a guitar tech to try to sort it out or I'll just consider it a complete fail and never play it again. To be fair I don't even like the tones and general sound of the guitar either, it's just a typically buzzy, tinny sounding strat style guitar and I guess I should have known better and just never bought one but the L7V got me hyped about Sires in general hence why I went against my better judgement. 😩

I recently got a Headrush MX5 and mostly play with headphones or directly into Logic. Haven't touched my spark much since for playing. However, a few weeks ago i randomly hooked up my phone via bluetooth and use it almost daily as a speaker while working. For that use, its probably the best bluetooth speaker i have ever had. Also, for the looper, I have a boss rc505 and with a simple headphone to trs cable splitter, i was able to loop while keeping sounds from the software intact while playing. So i really have no reason to upgrade. However, just because i don't have a reason, doesn't mean I won't at some point 😂. The right black Friday deal could always sway me

I hope they offer a 2 or 3 button version. Loopers with a single pedal are agonizing to use. Having one button for record functions and one for play/stop reduces the amount of remembering how to work the thing.
@joerockofficialАй бұрын
But speaking about the recordings. Any differences? Extra noise? Also does it any damage to the hoop?
@cleverdoodАй бұрын
I didn't do any recording comparisons. I would assume the acoustic drum head would create more hotspotting, or would change the sensitivity, but I don't know for sure. I don't think there would be any hoop damage, the rims the heads were more or less the same.
@billbones1000Ай бұрын
Double tap to stop effectively makes a looper unusable. Using a looper in time is the single most challenging part of the technology. Single tapping in time takes a lot of practice. Confidently hitting a double tap in time is next to impossible. Never buy a looper with any sort of double tap feature. The extra cost for a two switch looper that removes the need for the dreaded double tap is essential for anyone wishing to actually play in time.
@cleverdoodАй бұрын
agreed, but my only counter-point is that there isn't much choice for good (affordable) looper pedals for the Spark or THR and I think anyone who would need something more complicated wouldn't be buying either of these practice amps, they'd likely have something better.

@@cleverdood it will depend on what guitar people are using as well for me I'm playing an acoustic which when I compare my takamine gn93ce to my dads tanglewood his guitar sounds more full bodied sound in the bass than mine, can sort of be compensated for a little by string choice. I have a VAD 507 and find if you are recording, having the digital snare + ride make a huge difference (and HH which i bought separately). I really like the efnote but just wish i could play one first but there is no store close to me that has them on display as of yet. I ended up with my VAD kit because i actually spent more time and money trying to save money if you know what i mean.
