Do Decoys Work For Purple Martins And Can They Help Do More Than Just Attract Purple Martins?

I put up a few gourds and boxes away from the Martin gourds for the bluebirds and tree swallows. Seems to work for me. 👍

Ty Terry I have another bigger house that knocked down by the hurricane. I’m gonna try to put it back together asap and get it up. I had PM before at my other home and loved them. I explained to my children they fell in love with them too.about the migration . In fact son bought me my houses. Also here we had a very hot hot summer so I cleaned my bird bath and kept clean water and it was a wonderful site watching them and keeping them alive. So Ty again. 👍

Where are you located? I’m in SW MO and have not had this problem…yet. I use one decoy on top of my house. I’ve often wonder if it helps w/ hawks or falcons who might hit it and be foiled. Have not see that happen though to be honest.

Do the decoys help discourage house sparrows? This is my first year trying to get martins to come, and it is a constant daily struggle against the sparrows

Not for long. The sparrows will figure out that they aren't real and ignore them. Just have to keep removing any nest that they start and consider using a trap. Good luck!

Purple Martin music 🎶 what kind of music. In Lafayette,La and have been trying to attract them for 2 yrs. I know all the other rules, but music might help. I have decoys. And though they didn’t work. Ty for ideas cuz I was going to get goirds

hahahahaha, 'HOW' could you have mistaken Tree Swallows for Purple Martins??????????????? hahaaa, wow,,,, you should have defended the Purple Martins at ALL COSTS!!!!!!!
