As someone who has demonstrated LifeVac hundreds of times, you are not pulling it fast enough and therefore not using it correctly. The faster the pull, the more suction it makes. When used correctly it makes over 300 mmHg.
@darrinc85
@darrinc85 9 ай бұрын
also if you read the data available from LifeVac, in a randomized study it was about 50% effective on the first pull, 85% on the 2nd and 99.9 on the 3rd.

These devices should not be difficult to use for anyone without any prior training. If just anyone can't pick it up and use it to save a life, then it fails.
@simphunter4292

@@serious.business it's not difficult to use when you are properly informed. You don't just assume everyone instinctively knows how to do the heimlich. So why should you just assume everyone should instinctively know how to use this? Are you This woman's "hubby"? That's the only logical reasoning why I could see you would blindly defend such incompetence. Every tool takes a little bit of knowledge, information and common sense on how to use it. If you can't recognize that then continue being one of the people watching, screaming and carrying on while doing nothing. You don't use a hammer as a screwdriver and blame the hammer.

When you attach the mask to the plunger, you’re supposed to twist the mask to lock it in place. This is why the plunger and mask detached during your first attempt.

mannequins have a more uniform and rubbery face that would create a strong seal every time. people are much different. not just the face shape but facial hair can prevent a strong enough seal. i really wish these devices took that sort of thing into account. the whole business seems like a massive grift. just banking on lazy people who don't want to learn heimlich maneuver, or are too afraid to use it on someone and would rather use a simple device.

As a surgeon, and someone who has saved persons twice with the Heimlich, I believe this would not work in an untrained user, or ever at all. Both times it took me a second herder attempt to be successful. The amount of force required is significant. Just learn, and teach, the Heimlich.

Well if I had to pick one from the 2 I am going with the lifevac cuz looks like it works better in less try’s and you can move it around better to get it right faster. So I ended up getting the lifevac. But that doesn’t mean I won’t be trying some of the others. Can’t put a price on saving a your loved ones life’s when needed.

I never saw either device in use at any emergency medical services agency nor hospital in my area. We had airway care training as part of basic lufe support. I did the Heimlich maneuver on myself when I choked on a steak; that was scary!

I have a solution for a perfect seal, actually, but it will take a bit longer to put on. The key is in the US Army chemical masks for MOPP gear in that they all utilize a 3 strap system to properly secure and create a tight seal. Yes, it takes longer, but so, too, would multiple failed attempts.

It's my saliva that usually causes my choking in the middle of the night. Dribbles into my windpipe or something causing blockage and everything closes up - no air, can't breathe at all. I awake in panic and desperately flail until I am able to manage to get a small pinhole size to allow a bit of oxygen/breathing until I can bust through with forceful coughs. Terrifying and I know this will cause my death. Would this thing work, I wonder...?

You need to see your primary care physician immediately. This potentially be a life threatening issue that could be treated in some way. There are a slew of things that could cause this. I know I’m a completely stranger to you, but please go see your doctor. It’s the best course of action at this point. Not having an open airway is a huge deal.

These failed attempts are user error & demonstrate not practicing. ANYTHING you use fresh out of the box w/ no practice is going to be used incorrectly 😂. Even the Heimlich Maneuver cannot be done correctly majority of the time unless you actually practice it lol. As far as the setup this is two pieces which takes seconds to put together.

Boomer lady uses a hammer as a screwdriver and blames the hammer... The lifevac video that was posted 3 years ago shows that you are doing it wrong. Not enough force on the mask, head not tilted back, not enough Force on pulling the plunger, not properly connecting the plunger to the mask on your first attempt which is the most egregious thing in the whole video you're just trying to discredit the thing by falsely accusing it of being defective.... I wonder how many people you convince not to buy the device and how many people could have been helped because you were doing it wrong and spreading biased misinformation

Exactly. This video pissed me off because she probably deterred so many people. She literally used it like it had a desease that she was afraid to touch. Didn’t follow 1 direction on how to use either product. It was so cringe to watch…especially when the mask detached. Then she blames the tongue depressor for not getting a seal…as she uses her finger tips to put the slightest pressure possible on the mask…when it clearly says, “firm pressure”
