“Are you in a relationship or friendship with a person who is viscous, cruel, sarcastic and mean? You walk on egg shells or adapt their odd way of thinking to keep the peace. This person may also be a workaholic or have too many “irons in the pot” which for some of these Narcissists, it leads to portions of their life being out of control. You might have a workplace narcissist on your hands.

What is stronger than a lion and sweater than honey? Heady ambiguous words spoken by a physically strong man. Many years ago an ENFJ best friend once told me she wanted me to tell her the solution rather than comfort her and that I need not hold back solutions for the sake of her emotions. I had not before heard the word headier. I describe myself as a brain in a jar though I do also very much enjoy solo outdoor adventure activities (scuba, hiking, biking, adventure travel) but my current activity of biking has demonstrated to me just how incompetent I am in the physical realm as I've had 3 medically severe incidents on my bike in just 7 years of cycling and when younger I chose not to purchase a car because though getting a licence I believed I would be too much of a risk to other road users and myself and I prefer not to put other people at risk of danger for my own benefit. Two of my cycling incidents related to my avoiding a crash with another user pedestrian and cyclist and from the moment after sustaining injury to myself I felt at peace because it was myself and not the other user who had been injured by my avoidance of a crashing with them. I also far more enjoyed pure maths to applied maths and theoretical physics to lab practice. I am also generally incompetent, and disinterested, about the house compared to many householders. I can do it but it takes a long time and much energy. I practiced meditation because I understood it as a way to empty my mind of thought, i.e. be completely silent with God so that maybe God can get a word in edgeways rather than be swamped by the inner mind chatter. I later learned the object of meditation is to observe thoughts not clear thoughts which appeals to me - the observation of inner space. Yes, both outer and Inner adventure and exploration surely comes with risk of positive and negative experiences that a preference for inner or outer safety cannot allow? The risks of leaving the house and going beyond the borders into the unexplored country? I do not relate to the desire to debate. I use words but have no desire to defeat or convince or convert anyone nor injure them physically or injure their existing thoughts or beliefs and for this reason much prefer to give the other the last .....

@@TamsPsychAdvice Thanks. Unfortunately post-concussion-syndrome can and is taking many months to heal. Perhaps it is indicative that I get the headaches not when I think. I am able to learn chess this year. I am able to continue my study projects. I get the headaches after physical exertion and after gatherings. Fortunately the headaches last only a few hours and are reduced by a siesta. It is very frustrating to be restricted physically for a year but I guess I might be more alarmed if I could not think for a year. One or two weeks thinking incapacity I have experienced and found it easy to accept, but even a year of physical incapacity is stretching my acceptance. But slowly slowly I improve. Highly recommend cycling as a fitness and adventure activity, but in hindsight might have paid for the most expensive and protective helmet rather than a less expensive helmet. Helmets don't seem to protect against damage to neurology, or at least my neurology. I now have an excuse for my style of thinking if I ever come to want or need it! My ISTP school friend seemed to me as a boy to be the smartest. Maybe Ti is the spice I have always been drawn to in the NFJs. Not too much not to little goldilocks!

Examples when mind-chatter is most irritating or distracting to me are when I attend a rock concert or theatre or some other event where I am part of an audience and I find myself very often in a state of mind-chatter rather than in the moment with the performance; sometimes when trying to sleep; sometimes when hiking or biking. When I notice the mind-chatter I might use mindfulness to focus on the moment of the experience. I have found my experience in meditation practice useful in that by focusing on the moment the chatter quietens. On the other hand I have also discovered that extreme exertion such as ascending a hill on a bike pulls me so much into the physical discomfort of the moment that the inner thinking and chatter ceases. Not that I know this happens until the point the mind chatter returns and I realised that for some unknown duration my mind must have been quiet.

It’s nice when I’m having obsessive thoughts when I realize I’m not having them. That always feels so good.
