I've been using them since January and love mine. Your first workout you will stare at them the whole time. After a workout or two you look beyond the display and don't realize they are there. It's so helpful for interval work. I am about a 1:40/100 yard swimmer and while doing say 500 yards you can do the calculations in your head while looking at the display instead of your watch. They are really great for open water as well. If you are use to bigger goggles as the video mentions the peripherals aren't that great but you get use to it. I did IMLP last weekend and it's great to know how many yards you are at and your average per 100. I was able to see if I was slowing down. These googles are great for people who like numbers and are looking for a reason to get motivated to swim.

Cons, I get a small leak always right eye, vision clarity not great. Expensive and I have $19 goggles that seal much better with better vision. Like all goggles anti fog wears away, will get scratches etc so not like just throw away & get another cheap pair. Still, I like tracking my distance etc so I don’t have to think about it. Also have a pair and find them great for my training for many of the reasons you mentioned. You didn’t touch much upon using them for open water which is where I think they are great. I have had these goggles for over a year now. Good fit. Good data. No button presses at the end of lengths or intervals. A little concerned that the length time for the first length of a set is faster than I would expect but it settles after to consistent times. Outdoors needs a Garmin 945 or equivalent to pair (perhaps an apple as an alternative?). I have the Ploar HR as well which is great. So, I like 'em, just need to understand if I am silly fast for the first 25m or do the goggles time to a different point in the turn?

Thank you for your feedback and for bringing this to our attention, Stephen! We're happy to hear you love your goggles. It looks like FORM is currently pushing the goggles a lot in the social media. Seen already 2 (very good, e.g. former comp.) swimmers (and social media active) in my pool using (partly sponsored) FORM goggles. Which was good for me, since I wouldn't pay the price, if I wouldn't be sure, that the goggles would fit. Amazon had a good deal + free shipping, so I gave it a try. My final thoughts for freestyle in the pool: very accurate regarding distance and time. As accurate as Garmin Swim and GS2, which imho are the best swim watches re accuracy and data (the old GS is imo in a few occasions slightly more accurate than GS2). I need them especially for distance tracking and timing. I need all the oxygen for swimming, cannot count at the same time the laps and the strokes 😂 Big (?) difference when it comes to stroke count per length. Also big variation from length to length. Maybe my turns (or something else) is not good enough. In the past I counted occasionally the strokes and compared them with the data from GS/GS2. GS/GS2 seems to be pretty accurate (especially GS). To be honest, I couldn't believe from the very beginning, that the stroke count could be very accurate. If you understand how such devices are working, it's almost impossible to get an accurate stroke count if the device is not attached to the wrist. And finally the vision/visibility: it took me 2k to fully get used to it. Now it's not better, but I got used to it. Luckily I was alone in my lane when I swam for the first time with the goggles. The undisturbed field of view is very restricted. Like a tunnel. The most annoying thing is the disturbed vision around the "tunnel". At the beginning it's pretty confusing. I can imagine that some people can loose the orientation or get even "sea sick". Not the case with me, but I messed 2x the turns, because I thought, the T is closer than it really was. Fogging: imo they seem to be slightly better than other new goggles. What's interesting (and actually very easy to explain): the lens with the display is not fogging at all. Only the lens without display. Which can be pretty weird until you close the eye on the display side. It seems like the human brain "deactivates" the eye with blurry view and uses only the one with crisp vision in such cases. Until at some point you realize that something is unusual. Imo the main benefits are the timing (if you want to keep the same pace / a particular pace each length) and the realtime stroke rate (only for freestyle). Re the stroke rate I'm not so sure, since I'm pretty sure, that the stroke count is not very accurate, which imo must be somehow related to the stroke rate. Would I buy it again? Probably yes, because otherwise I wouldn't have my own experience. Trying the goggles for 1-2 lengths is not the same. Do they make you a better swimmer? No, but they can motivate tech-savvy swimmers. (Former) comp. swimmers don't need them for sure. If you swim 5-6 days a week in a swimming club since you are 6-7yo, you know exactly how fast you are and how many strokes/len you needed. Without clocks, without watches, without ... This is at least what I found out watching the swimmers from the local swimming club.

Not sure about these. I would guesstimate most people have problems with their watch GPS accuracy in open water, I've had 6 Garmin models and all of them have had accuracy issues and as the goggles use the GPS from your watch, this makes them pretty much useless in open water. I like the idea of them for the pool, although I have my watch set for a time alert to keep me on pace - e.g 42s per lap, if it goes off too soon I know to pick up the pace. And I'm a princess about the type of goggles I wear as well. Would love to try them out, however.

@FORMswim

In a non-partner swim spa, you can use the goggles to track and display swim time and your real time stroke rate. We were able to partner with Hydropools so that users of these pools and our goggles can see distance while they swim by selecting the speed of the swim spa current. We recognize that there are many brands of swim spa available and we unfortunately are not able to partner with them all. Each pool has its own features and speed settings which means that the goggles would need to be programmed for each make and model available. We have had great feedback from our swimmers that even seeing time and real time stroke rate (which is what you can see when using a non-partner swim spa) is an invaluable addition to the swim experience. You can find more information on our site here: support.formswim.com/hc/en-us/sections/1500000203642.

Why not Fins? Are dolphin kicks counted as strokes?
@FORMswim
@FORMswim Жыл бұрын
The FORM goggles are able to detect the following four strokes: Breaststroke, Butterfly, Backstroke, Freestyle. The goggles use head movement to track your swims. When swimming with equipment like fins, head movement is limited and therefore, the goggles can misidentify it. We recommend to use the goggles' Drills Mode when performing skill based training or when swimming with equipment like fins.

How do they work in OWS if they don't have GPS? How's mapping gonna work?
@FORMswim
@FORMswim 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question, Bojan! In open water, the goggles track your time and real time stroke rate. For distance related metrics in open water, the goggles can be connected to a compatible Garmin or Apple Watch. In this case, the swim is tracked on the watch and displayed in the goggles. While a map or headings can’t be seen in the lens of goggles, swimmers can track their precise GPS distance, pace, and more, while in open water. Please let us know if you have any other questions about our goggles and we'd be happy to share more information!

We might be biased but we would say the goggles are pretty accurate. We have thousands of happy swimmers and over 100 highly rated reviews on our site. We also have a 45-day return policy if you want to try them out. In open water, the goggles can be used on their own or connected to a compatible Garmin or Apple Watch, as @Alasdair McKenzie and @tito kolai have mentioned. On their own in open water, the goggles track your time and real time stroke rate while you swim. You would also be able to review your average stroke rate and calories in the workout summary after you saved your swim. You can also pair a Polar Verity Sense or OH1/OH1 + sensor to the goggles for live heart rate while you swim. Connected to a compatible smartwatch, the swim is tracked by the watch and displayed in the goggles. Please let us know if you have any other questions about our goggles as we'd be happy to share more information!

The FORM goggles are built to last. They’re made using industry-leading manufacturing processes and high-grade materials, including FDA-certified silicone eye seals and the same chemical-resistant anti-fog technology used in diving masks. Each pair is covered under a one-year limited warranty and we also have replacement parts available in case you loose or break a part.

The FORM Swim App does require a device with Android 6.0 or higher or iOS 11 or higher, normally a smartphone or tablet, but some computers can install Android or iOS apps. Unfortunately, we do not have a version of the FORM Swim App for computers. You can also use the FORM Swim App to download your swims as either a .FIT or .CSV file to download your metrics. You can then save and open this file on your computer and/or import it into other platforms.
