In his ignorance, he's trying to say straight men are not "sexually feminine" like gay men usually are, basically that they don't have the same feminine energy as gay dudes, which is obvious and it makes sense that it makes him uncomfortable: cause he's used to liking that energy in females. When he comes across that energy but in a male form, he gets threatened (for some reason).

Yeah he's looking at all gays based on the gays of one area that are notorious for going out of the way to be stereotypes. I know with a lot of the fellow gays in my area, they don't date people who have slept with friends because they want to, but smaller dating pool means having to re-evaluate priorities. They would prefer not to. My husband is 6'2, bearded, rugged, works oilfield...no one thinks gay when they see him or some if his fellow gay coworkers, but, there they are.

I think the mix of straight and gay people on this panel are the most interesting in terms of POV. The straight guy in the cap is to the extreme, the bald one is in the middle and the long-haired guy is more liberal. Same with the gay men. The one w/the nail polish is what you'd consider stereotypical, the younger guy is in the middle and guy in the yellow shirt is the type where you couldn't tell right away unless you hear what he says. Not all straight and gay men are the same. That's what I get from this panel in particular.

Yeah, I didn't agree with much of the answers to that segment. To preface all this, I am a straight 24yo man. I still have both my parents, they are still together, but I was almost entirely raised by my mother and I am much closer to her than I am my father, this is mainly because my dad has always worked long hours and full weeks. I don't relate to masculine stereotypes, I don't like sports, I don't care about being big and strong, I find my own body hair gross, I don't really enjoy interacting with 'masculine' men because I don't relate to them and I have never had any real male role models (or role models in general to be fair). I have Uncles, I have never spent a lot of time with them, one lives two states away from me, the other we just don't see often. I am closer with my aunts, and my grandmother. This is to say, I have not received 'masculine guidance' through my life. Despite that, I have been closer to the 'model child' than any guy I have ever met. From as early as I can remember, which would be about 12, I haven't disobeyed my parents, I haven't yelled or swore at or antagonised my parents, I have never stolen, I don't lie, I have never snuck out, I never drunk under-age, I didn't hang around a rough crowd despite growing up in a pretty shitty area, I've never been in a fight, etc. I don't think 'masculine energy' is a necessity, and I don't agree that many of the things that they attributed to be 'masculine' are inherently masculine, I can recognise that historically / traditionally they are, but I don't agree that they are inherently. I am biased, but I honestly believe that a good portion of men are a detriment to their own sons development.

For the record no one is ganging up on the hat guy. No is overshadowing his “opinions”. They are clearly challenging his outdated and inaccurate views of gay people. Gay people have “intermixed” with straight people for a long time. Knowingly or not. He is just willfully ignorant and just live his bubble. Everyone has their preference of who they want to be around, cool. These age old stereotypes are annoying and why we can’t progress as a society. I appreciate the straight guy in the cap for ... carefully... speaking his mind and not just trying to be PC. Of course, he also has to be aware that his friends will watch this so he's likely pulled in two directions. As a gay man since I was in my teens I've been and seen a huge variety of types of gay men. I would love to see more variety of folks, including everyday more masc-of-center gay men, older folks of all genders and orientations, lesbians/studs, etc. Overall, this brought up some good points and I liked that most of the guys were being insightful and sometimes changed their initial responses to a prompt.
@verlan3293 Жыл бұрын
It's not really about being PC, I found him to be quite ignorant in general. Such as labelling a boisterous and friendly gay guy as being "sexual" and showcasing the typical gay-men-being- predatory-to-straight-men trope. There was also some misogyny in there by him thinking that a woman having a similar demeanour means she's being sexual. Being friendly =/= being flirty. He also implied he's part of the bastion of masculinity compared to the other guys simply by virtue of his sexuality. Also him parrotting the hacnkeyed "men being the provider women being the caretaker" trope? This is what you're applauding? Lol. I sometimes find it ironic sometimes how people label any sort of pushback to their opinion as people demanding they be "PC". The reality is that people of this type (generally conservatives) see any sort of disagreement to their opinions as being a form of oppression and play victim. I understand there can many times be pressure of being PC, but I never liked the notion that the sensitivity goes only in one direction. If you don't want criticism then just be honest about that instead of trying (and failing) to be stoic about it.

I mean, no problem with him and his opinions. More problems with him going "straight men are like this.... like me" when, as a straight man, I'm not. That shit just sounds ridiculous. Tbh, his opinions are not uncommon, but they're def not universal!

5:15 many people don't understand this question really. And the answer to this question is yes, but in explanation it's very different. It doesn't mean that there has to be a man and a woman, but it's about energy. And you don't need to act feminine to give feminine energy to a child. Look at it this way: one parent has to be one that is a bit more strict, a bit more practical, pragmatic, the other parent is the one that's a bit more allowing, caring, loving. They both do these things, but one focuses more on one, another on the other, simply because of time constraints, really. It may sound a bit mean, but it isn't at all, it's just how human kind is. And I gave a very short and simplified explanation. 7:58 strange for a gay guy not to understand what's being said... and the straight dude is absolutely right, males absolutely need discipline, it's an absolute must. not everyone, but let's not take fringe cases as a rule. most boys are horrible if undisciplined. and also, as I said before, and as it's been said, masculine energy can be provided by mother. it's not black and white. some kids are very easy to raise in general, but many absolutely need masculine and feminine energy around. 14:55 this guy is very right, and people misunderstand him, he's talking from the perspective of actual reality, not how things "should" be. He's just reflecting, not preaching. He's actually very bright and tolerant and cool for a straight guy. People are misreading him often, and actually being a bit aggro to him, without understanding that.

As a gay man raised by a Christian single mum, my brother and I turned out to be men with manners, went to university, stayed away from drugs and from other vices. Now I don't know if this was due to our religious upbringing or the fact that my mum was a strong Latina haha. But if you look at it statistically the larger percentage of men who are in prison or gangs, come from fatherless homes. With this I'm not saying if you don't have a father, you'll turn into an addict or criminal, but if you look at the data, it is clear that there is some sort of correlation between a fatherless home and boys not doing well in school, or doing drugs, or involved in criminal activity, or having problems with aggression etc etc

4:50 tbh it hasnt been around for a "long time", most of early humans, the mother would die in childbirth, or the father would leave, or the mother would leave. Only recently from the mass amounts of scientific advancements with helping mental health or illness and death have these gender roles been more solidified in our culture, and even if it had been around for a long time, so has slavery, wars, and, discrimination, all of the examples was and sometimes still are allowed, respected and viewed as okay. Just because something was veiwed as good before, doesnt mean that it is and should be that way, this is how we as a species develope change and adapt in a way that benefits us all as humans. So saying that the reason there should be gender roles is because it has been around for a long time proves nothing, and without a fully realised reason then there isnt an arguement for that.

It's not about masculine and feminine when it comes to childrearing. It's about parenting styles. You need a parent that protects and nurtures you and a parent that encourages you to go out into the world and make your own mistakes. It's just that those parenting roles are generally linked to gender roles in traditional straight culture. 🤷♂️

As a woman i find it interesting that both gay and straight men say they wouldnt like to be with a woman who has been with several of their friends. ...Straight after one of them saying heterosexual men oppressed women... Hmm :P

Open relationships are the same as friends with benefits or friendship+ as it is often called. I don't see a difference there. I personally would never want to have an open relationship, because if you truly love your partner, you want to be with him, you want to have sex with him, not sex with a person that you don't love. An open relationship is basically a free to f*ck ticket.

The gay man in pink asks the other gay man "were you straight at that time?". This is a stupid question, because gay men are born gay and straight men are born straight. It's imprinted in their brains! There is no such thing as fluidity of sexual orientation. But there is a process to identify yourself as gay that may make you think that you were straight when you were younger. The truth is that if you are gay, you were always gay, but obviously, in younger years, you can struggle with accepting yourself as gay. That is why some gay men first say they are bisexual and then they finally say they are gay. But they are often so ashamed of that they lied to everyone when saying they were bi, that they have invented "sexual fluidity" to hide their lies behind the claim of "sexual fluidity". Discovering your sexual orientation does not change your sexual orientation. Yet some people falsely disagree with that fact. You can also derive this easily from biology. Sex and sexual orientation is fundamental in evolution. It's a complex topic, also because gay men have genes that make their female relatives more fruitful and that's why there will always be gay men, because these genes are an evolutionary success. The sexual center of the brain lies deep inside the brain. It's one of the core parts of your brain. And this brain structure in the core does not change when you get older!

To me it seems obvious that straight men are (on average, overall) more masculine than gay men. That comes with both positive and negative attributes, and doesn't make them inherently better or worse. And, of course, it's not across the board. Surely most of us have known gay men who fit masculine stereotypes and straight men who fit feminine stereotypes, but by and large they're the exceptions that prove the rule. Most gay men realize this at some level too. It makes it much easier to get laid if guys with more-feminine-than-usual attributes ping your gaydar. I think lots of people don't like saying it because it feels like it devalues gay men, but that's just because of the problematic societal tendency to value masculine shit over feminine. I think we should try to get over that rather than bending over backwards to pretend that groups that are different in one way might tend to be different in others (at least on average), especially when it's obvious.

manly doesn't equate to being dirty, that's just self-neglect. Nothing to do with sexual orientation. Toxicity is not about masculinity, it also exists with women and straight environments.

The guy in the cap makes me sad. It's like he has/has been given a very narrow view of the world and that's all he knows. His non-verbal reactions are interesting, it's like the reactions of a petulant child..... Don't even get me started on the opinion that you can't hang out with gay men because they go straight to the sexual. At least he admits he's 'scared mostly' Maybe videos like this would help him to understand and appreciate the value of diversity, but he seems quite set in his ways. Love so much of this discussion.

The foreign hetero dude comes from which Middle Eastern country?
@anenemyanemone4923 Жыл бұрын
He looks and sounds Armenian, though that doesn't quite specify what country he's from (plenty who were born in the US even have accents if they grew up in enough of a cultural bubble). Armenia isn't Middle Eastern, but Caucasian (as in, actual Caucasian, not the dumb euphemism some Americans use to refer to white people who usually have nothing to do with the Caucasus). While many Armenians these days do come from the Middle East (i.e. Western Armenians, who mostly used to live around Lake Van till the early 20th century when they fled from the genocide the Turks were committing against them), there are still plenty from Armenia (i.e. Eastern Armenians). Something about this guy and the way he presents strikes me as being an Eastern Armenian. If you need a frame of reference, Eastern Armenians have more affinity with Russia (as they lived under the Soviet Union) than with the Middle East (it's still a distinct culture, though, and their language, while Indo-European, is in its own branch and not close to any other). There are plenty of both groups in Hollywood, where he said he grew up, but more of the Eastern group overall.

When I think of attractive men, I think of Chris Hemsworth, Michael B Jordan, Brad Pitt, Shemar Moore, Boris Kodjoe, Tyson Beckford, Taylor Kinney, Idris Elba, Blair Underwood, George Clooney, Denzel Washington, and Pierce Brosnan. Those men are all straight. So I do not understand the correlation of male beauty (or even male grooming) to gay men only. Not saying that there are not attractive gay men. But the men that society lauds as the most beautiful/handsome males have generally been straight men.
@Imetwurld_ Жыл бұрын
As a straight woman same thing I thought too . If I'm being honest I've not seen a good amount of beautiful gay men as I have seen among straight men and I will like to think it's because of straight men are more in number like I said I would like to assume that's the case ...
@9395gb Жыл бұрын
@urgirll31 It could be a numbers thing. But, still it's not as if heterosexual men overall do not take care of their bodies, groom themselves, or care about their looks in general. Most heterosexual men do try to take care of their looks especially when they want to attract beautiful women, get certain jobs and careers, or just for their own overall health and wellness purposes. I do not know too many heterosexual men running around looking a "hot mess" or like a slob. Quite the opposite from my experience. And like I said before, the men that society tends to celebrate as the most beautiful, most stylish, and most suave men anyhow generally are heterosexual (ie Brad Pitt and Shemar Moores types). Even the majority of male models (runway and commercial) tend to be heterosexual. Again, I am not saying there are not good-looking gay men, but grooming and male beauty is definitely not exclusive to gay men.
@fairygodmother139 Жыл бұрын
@@9395gbyh but they take care of themselves because they’re celebs. Most straight average men are incredibly disgusting when it comes to hygiene.
@9395gb Жыл бұрын
@fairygodmother139 It has nothing to do with them being celebrities. It is because they were born good looking. Most attractive men try and maintain their looks. Even average-looking straight men try and groom and look nice because they want to attract beautiful women. I'm not sure who you are hanging around unless it's incels or porn addicts. They don't represent the average straight man. Also the gay man on this show in pink and yellow doesn't look good. He's not in shape and his outfit is terrible. In contrast the man in black with long curly hair is straight, in shape and well groomed. So they don't even fit your stereotypes about heterosexual men.

I disagree with that " men know, what men want " thats just some gay wanting our men. A women can satisfy her man better than a gay man because straight men have made it loud and clear what they love and us women are more passionate then men. Nothing against gay men, but women have more passion and more to give because we are women
