I skated from 2001-2015 (properly). I’d say although skating felt more popular when the mtv shows were popping up, there was never really a cultural shift to where skateboarders were deemed cool or popular. They have always been deemed a little as outsiders and kids who haven’t grown up “get a real job”. I’d argue that it’s more popular now as popular fashion is to wear baggy jeans, skate shoes and skate branded hoodies and tees.

Also ladies, remember that basketball players are likely to be out 1-3 games after they bruise their elbow or shoulder. I used to skate and I play pick up ball now a days. Skating does require a special kind of toughness, like you mentioned, when taking all those slams. But basketball requires another kind of toughness to overcome someone else's will to stop you

Haha, that comment in the beginning about filling up your water cup with soda at mcdonald's really brought back some memories from about 30 years ago! There was a mcdonalds literally a stone's throw from one of the popular street spots in my town, so we were in there all the time to take advantage of the AC on hot days, drink free soda, and devour the $0.41 ice cream cones. We lived on those things all summer long, haha. This was back when you could smoke in there too. It was great at the time, but now I wouldn't even consider eating somewhere that had a smoking section. Damn, I miss the mid-nineties!

Skateboarding back in my day in the 90s and early 2000’s was reckless rebellion towards authority figures and a rock n roll lifestyle. We were outlaws on four wheels. Defiant by nature, destructive behavior, refusing to conform. It was a way for guys to rebel against society. So much more to it then just skating, almost like riding a Harley Davidson through a quiet neighborhood. Today, it seems much different, less aggressive. But you can get a woman doing anything, as long as you do it well and do it with pride and ambition. Just be an alpha male at whatever you do and you get a woman to follow! It’s all about attitude.
