21:20 Word of caution if anyone finds a ScanSnap and dollar signs flash in your eyes. Check the paper feed rollers inside (the front panel opens up,) as they often melt and turn to goo. They are not user serviceable. You can get replacements for them, but nearly have to disassemble the entire scanner to do the fix. A project that’ll take the better part of an afternoon depending on your mechanical skill.

Never feel guilty! Retailers charge an extremely high markup to everyone on their items in stores, its basic economics. People host garage sales to get rid of stuff they don't want anymore, not to make a bottom line. We as resellers take risks all the time. We miss flaws when buying stuff. We don't test electronics, get home and the don't work; do the people hosting the sales feel bad for us? buyer AND seller beware in an open marketplace. We all been to sales where an n64 that's been "lovingly" used is being sold for 100$ and god bless the people at that sale thinking someone would pay that amount. They don't feel guilty asking that amount. If they are willing to let it go and you're not forcing them or stealing it, its all fair game. Great video as always you two!

There's a woman locally who I call "the Witch", who does bully people. She and her male friend, termed "the Warlock". (don't be evil , people; it'll bite you in the end.) I pay mostly what they ask, but sometimes will ask for a $1 off on a $21 sale; that's about it. Have I felt guilty a few times? Yes, but most times the sellers just want whatever it was GONE. It's taking up space. I once got two Disney binders FULL of pins, plus two brand new portable pin trader bags.. for a whopping $20 the lot. The lady flat out told me she knew her mother had paid a lot for them, but Mom was gone and daughter wanted them out of the house. She set the price. I resold the pile for over $600, and the buyers thought they were getting a steal. Probably were!

I bought a pair of Burberry pants at a garage sale for $1. I sold them for about $80. My mom was shocked that such a thing was possible. I wonder how someone ended up selling it for only $1. Was it a gift from someone they didn't like? Did they buy it from a thrift store for $5 and never heard of the brand? Or did they fail to realize that they sold me their favorite pair of pants? If that last was true, I would feel a bit guilty. Otherwise, no. I agree with Candace, people need to do their homework. And they need to do thw work of listing and shipping if they want an Ebay price. 😅

I have made the comment about how much something sells for on ebay at a garage sale and the person said " Well, then you should buy them all so you can make lots of money!" Most people understand this fast and don't want to hassle with listing things so I never feel guilty either. And like you said, everybody has the same access as we do with selling. Most people don't want to hassle with online selling that is why they are having a garage sale and most people donate the stuff when the sale is over. So my time is worth money as well.

I don't feel guilty especially when folks are getting the price they want for items. Those great scores are few and far between. I never feel guilty. The fact they are having a garage sale, they know they are not getting "what it's worth". If they wanted to maximize profits there are several other ways to sell the item. It feels like common knowledge that garage sale prices are lower than every other form of selling.
@MrBUYaLOT Жыл бұрын
Great question. Knowledge is money. You deserve whatever you make, limitless. The seller made the decision to sell at a yard sale with convenience in mind. Your experience and business setup determines what you profit. You might turn a $5 item into $500 with your MEGA Ebay store and someone else might sell it in a local shop for $50. Does that mean you should feel guilt because you have patience or better clientele to make more? NO. It's business and it applies to investments, cars, real estate, groceries, services, and yes resellers :)

Most people don't have the interest or energy to have a garage sale or donate their "stuff" somewhere. They either just throw it all out or take it to the recycling station. In my experience garage sellers simply want items out of their house and if they can make a few bucks in the process, that is great as far as they are concerned. I am reselling just as a hobby, but my basement "storage area" is full of items that I have gotten for free that I am slowly listing in my eBay store.

I never feel guilty, especially if I paid their price. A lot of people don't know how to look up the price correctly, that's why you have all the "sells on ebay" ads at yard sales. The value of any item is what the buyer is willing to pay for it. You could buy an item that previously sold for good money and then you find that nobody wants it. The sale of any item at a garage sale is totally within the control of the seller. Nothing to feel guilty about.

Back when I was a collector of things, I would deal with people who would brag about finding a $100 item priced at $10 and then talking the people down to $5. Their justification was that the seller should have known what they had. People should, but when you have older people just clearing out stuff that may have belonged to their kids or grandkids, they may not know anything about it. However, if the seller knows what they have and are trying to sell that $100 item for $80 or $90 then they complain about not wanting to pay @$#%$ing eBay prices.

It's not that were buying low, its often what they ask. Its more so that other people are buying high. I feel more guilt for them in this triangle. When I see a big sale come through on something I paid just dollars or cents for I feel bad for my buyer (sometimes). Im typically over feeling bad in 1 or 2 seconds though. Then Im mainly just happy and validated. We do a lot to find these items, research, test, clean, pack, ship and cater to our buyers. Theres a ton of value in that.

I generally don't feel guilty. When I do, I usually reason with myself the points that Lonnie made. Then I'm good. Candace you are on the track with people not looking things up. I want to say that I got more than a little curious about the glasses. Years ago I had some Tiffin glass. I knew it was Tiffin. But they were made at a time where a lot of glass companies put a sticker on their glasses, not a mark in the glass. So, if they were used, the stickers get washed off. I bought them at an auction. There was 1 sticker in the bottom of the cardboard box. But I couldn't get anyone to believe they were Tiffin. I finally got authentication on them after a few years. By that time, I was moving from OH to NC and gave them to my friend. Anyway, when I saw these I felt for you trying to identify them. I have been all over the internet, as I know you have been, trying to help you find info on them. No luck! After 2 days searching in my free time, I have to give up and move on, lol! Good luck with the glasses. Also wanted to say that I when I saw the scanner listed, I thought the price was in the ballpark. Then I saw it sold already! Awesome! I could go on & on about the subjects discussed in your videos. So glad another reseller "introduced" you two in their video. You've quickly become my new favorite to watch. Thank-you!
