What would be a proper grow light if there is no natural light? And could you put two bags in there if they were ready at the same time? Thanks.
@SirDydimus869 ай бұрын
Mushrooms need minimal, if any, light. They are not plants and don't technically use it. They know which way up is. IF you want, a LED rope light from the dollar store would be sufficient. My wife got me a seed starting light a few years ago that has white, red and blue LEDs. My first whack at growing and the intensity of the light prevented growth. Main things to focus on when fruiting is fresh air exchange (FAE), temperature...low 70s and relative humidity...90-100% And yes, you can absolutely put two fully colonized bags side by side in a monotub. Now, if you have a specie that prefers more FAE then you'll run into issues with one of them, so make sure if you have two blocks they will both perform relatively the same in your tub. Otherwise a separate tub for one that needs more or less than the other. Does this make sense? 🤔 Not all mushrooms are created equal so you may have to do a little homework and design modifications as you go. Mush love friend 💙🍄

No matter what, you still need to rid the container of CO².. There is not enough airflow to blow out the CO². I use a tiny USB metal fan that sits inside the corner of the tub, and just plug it in for a minute without lifting the lid, but at this point, you don't need a completely sealed lid so the holes are pointless. I put a metal clip over the edge of the tub and let one side of the lid be propped up just enough for the fan to blow the air out. No point to ever drill holes..
@PrincessParanormal-s3n4 ай бұрын
For my first grow should I just grow them in the bag? I’m scared of contamination then once I harvest the first one transfer them to a container like this? Also do I leave it in a dark place until it’s all white? Break it up and then put it in low lighting?
@PaulMarceau2 ай бұрын
I'm growing for my first time. I would definitely recommend the bag. I notice the smaller bags colonize much faster. I got a 5 pound bag added 10cc of spores. it has been slow, I think I broke it up too soon. Then two 2 pound bags +5cc each, and in a week are already half colonized. I did the smaller bags almost 3 weeks later, and they are ahead. not sure about lighting, but I have heard you want a lower temp, but that is also helped by the water evaporating. Probably why many people will mist and fan them. Part of getting fruiting conditions. The only time I'd consider more than the grow bag, is if I wanted quantity. And/or already knew what I was doing. I just want for myself.

Take the cakes out of the bags and set them on top of a wet dog pad instead of perlite, then cut circular foil bigger than the cake (if you just use a rectangle the fruits like to come out to the reflection rather than up), and put the cake on top of the foil. Put them in a fruiting tub and never dunk, keep misting and all goes well. May need to FAE more than regular tub so I would fan 2 times a day to avoid fuzzies. @saeawn9 ай бұрын
I have heard that it will not increase your yield unless when you do break the all in one grow bag up that you combine it with a veryyyyyy clean bulk substrate. only will increasae yield by adding surface areas meaning more substrate and you will have to wait to have your bag broken up stuff colonize the bulk substrate which can be a window of contams. Booming acres told me to fruit all on one bags on top a foil liner over perlite for max yield all in one bag. If you want max yield not all in one bag look up rookie mycologist - he has a max yield bin video using north spore start to finish. You don’t want any grain that’s not yet colonized to be exposed to outside environmental conditions so I would not do it outside the cake. Recommend using liquid cultures for now on though.

If your FAE is good you don't need to fan. Before Yoshi Amano's channel got taken down he had just got some tubs from Microppose.
