Really enjoying your journey Sam - not sure about giving a car a name that its new owner may or may not like - I know its commonly done with the older classics but that generally applies to quirky plates that are open to interpretation or we call her Ruby because she is obviously red (or used to be). Worth the wait, brilliant as usual, Sam. Hope your dad pulls through and wishing him a speedy recovery. Love the idea of naming the cars, I think a little touch of humanisation works wonders. The red Mazda screams 'Molly' and since you were looking for a cheeky name for the discovery, I'd have called him Travolta (playing with swapping the Discovery letters around i.e. Very Disco!. The Tucson could be Poppy - nice old fashioned Devonian name. I'd absolutely love anything you could share in the templates that you created, absolute genius idea. Sorry to hear about your dad Sam and that he makes a quick recovery. I think the naming of the cars is a brilliant idea and such a great USP for the Family Car Guy. Maybe you could put a little footnote stating that the new owner can change the name to one of their choosing after the purchase if they wish to do so. Also, maybe your AI could help with the initial naming process. Another great episode and already looking forward to episode 8.👍

It's one of my watching highlights of the week your videos! With the buying of more Land Rovers (for that matter any car) just run dummy adverts on Autotrader to gauge response before ploughing in the money! In fact, would it be possible, if you know a particular car is coming up on auction, run the advert before deciding to buy! Obviously you'd just explain to callers you're expecting the car in.

Main problem with Discovery's is timing chain on the 2.0ltr. diesel. Check for rattle on start up. Must be started from cold. Love the videos. Hope your Dad is ok.

Love how much you’re using AI. I watch a lot on car buying and you’re the first person I’ve seen use it. Absolute no brainier for selecting cars and predicting costs when you’re new to it. Hope your dad recovers.

Goodluck with you dad. You need to find a local Land Rover specialist that is not main agent and stop paying main agent prices for non warrantied cars, and then they wont be so expensive to fix and trade on. Very few of the cars you sell will nd up back at main agents, they will go to local independents for their work. Being specialist in a car pays lots of dividends like you will become an expert in what to look for and how to get parts etc.

I would say naming the cars is ridiculous for 99% of dealers but I think it lends itself to you and your customer base, posh mum cars

I also think selling the discovery stuff is usually a bad idea especially for a new dealer but with the way you operate, your location etc I think it works for you and id continue. You can already see how quickly they turn over for you and the level of enquiries. On to a winner.

My concern with the 2.0 Diesel Land Rover they are so susceptible to timing chain rattle and DPF failure and there not cheap to fix as you know, and considering customers can come back to you upto 6 months after sale its a bit of a gamble with them.enjoying the content though.hope your Dads ok.

Thanks so much. I believe the post 2018 cars have improved timing chains, less likely to stretch and rattle. the DPF, just need to keep eyes on that one. The margin is crucial and not to get carried away with body work etc. requires a far more rigorous approach when it comes to buying but we'll see. Thanks for watching and for your comments

Oh we're building up to have her on camera! I know, the interior was shocking after the spray shop. I'm certainly going to have words. It was actually a very tame lane and the farmer said go for it, you'll have fun. A couple of flesh wounds on the RAV but nothing serious. I'm hoping I can pick these land rovers out well enough to avoid any nastys, or limit them as much as possible. Thanks RE Dad! I'm back in Devon now but I will be up later this week probably. Maybe use alliteration to name the cars (if you decide to go down that road)…Mandy the Mazda, Tina the Tucson etc. If you focus on Land Rovers you’ll become a “specialist”, which has its merits, but on the flip side you’re narrowing your audience. Best wishes re your Dad.

I wouldn’t name the cars personally but it might work , also I think the Land Rover gamble could be worth while if you think about it any used car has the ability to fuck up and cost money personally i see it as less risk to buy 1 car with 3k margin in it than 2 with with 1.5k margin in as you’ve got twice as much opportunity for it to cost you money . Just my 2p worth . Anyway loving the channel and the content . Hope dad is ok too 🤞

what system do you use to get your repair prices

I use AI to give me an approximate cost based on an hourley rate of £50 per hour. AI can tell you roughly how long it takes to replace a part in a certain vehicle and i usually supply my own parts
