@Simon Curtis you just need a ticket to an onward country and no I didn't have it. It's the airline that checks it, not immigration. That's because it's the airline's responsibility to fly you home if immigration rejects you. If you're worried you can just Photoshop a ticket or buy a fully refundable one.

What part do people think he's being rude in? I'm about 2/3 in and I don't notice anything yet. If people mean because he is speaking without full sentences, it's to ease in understanding. Notice some people say they don't speak English well, so he's just trying to use the main relevant words to communicate. That doesn't seem rude to me.

Greetings from Indonesia mate. I feel sorry for you getting “ping-pong” like that trying to buy a simcard. Actually, in 3:15 you can just grab that simcard, paid for it, and ask them to registered it. I am not sure why they said it is not for tourist. Probably because they cannot speak good english and would like to avoid any further conversation, and just said “No, no, no”. Most people in Indonesia usually only say “Yes, yes, yes” or “No, no, no”, as if they are into the conversation. This is actually our intention to make a polDifferent with other country that straight forward says, “No english, no english”. Need to be careful on that, make sure you check if they understand what your question is.

I was born and growing up at Medan City , the room you paid for was an ex-indekos and basically it's rented by student /worker that came to medan to work/colleague , many of them were transferred become an hotel room because the owner has partnered with Oyo/ Red doorz.. so this is quite embarrassing that's not standarize for a hotel actually 😂.... And Medan obviously not the city you willing to come as a backpaker mate , cause it's a metropolitan city with so many people couldn't speak english as well 😭😂 and usually the foreigner that come will have some guide master/ at least they could speak a bit of bahasa 😂 , I'm sorry for you uncomfortably it's quite strange to be honest seeing foreigner curious about Medan , cause usually , the main place for holiday was Danau Toba at Parapat or Samosir Island , Hope you'll comeback again someday and more enjoy it mate 😂

Hotels marked with OYO is a godsend in here, good service, cheap prices, nice breakfast. Glad people are pointing out that location for the night-stay. Well, for a cheap hotel, that is.

@@MrTripsJ Idk about the OYO that Dale visited, but the one near my home is pretty normal. No offense. I'm guessing that some of the workers in the video are just effeminate, not gay.

No, imo you get what you pay. No matter wherever you are, no matter the city nor the country, dont expect a room like marriott when actlly you pay for oyo. Thats completely in different level. On the other side, personally im afraid it gives a negative image for international tourist abt indonesia
