I guess the issue is that it costs more than an R7, makes less hp and torque, needs more money to be thrown at it for a tune to make it's "on-paper" hp, and at that point you might get push back from the dealership if you ever need warranty work done. I actually love how sporty it is and wish it came in as the same price as an R7. But at it's current price plus the price of a tune you might as well have gotten a brand new ZX6R and call it a day. 🤔

@@morgan98801 a brand new ZX6R cost only $850 more than a ZX4RR here in the U.S. and in all honesty you really shouldn't be looking at either bike if comfort is a concern.

Also this i4 399cc is the most powerful i4 399cc ever made. Look at the comparisons to the i4 399cc of the 90's.

Finally... Someone who is a true rider... One who seems to like to really ride as opposed to just seeming to aim to pose with hypersonic bikes - while seeking to denigrate the 400s to the realm of beginner bikes - even though they hit well over 150kmh and can be flicked around by those who have true skills.

It is not really a question of denigrating a 400. The ZX4R is not a beginner bike. It is designed to be a full out race track bike. And it cannot be compared with the Ninja 400 or the R3 bikes of the world. There is nothing in common. I would still sell a Ninja 400 as a beginner's bike.

​@@KrishnenduKescan be good beginner stock, then as you gain experience 200 buck flash gives 72hp at tire top speed almost or atv140mph. Costbis high for 400 but no need to mod brakes or suspension even for racing. It is ready with 200 buck flash in north america

I have 290ish miles on mine. Its been so much fun, but golly dang, I'm f**king exhausted. I hadn't ridden in 8 years or something until I got the zx4rr. So glad I didn't get fat, lol.

Here in ph, the r7 is expensive and the zx4r is far cheaper like r7 is 600k and the zx4r is 400k so it's like 200k different r7 got forgotten right away but the z900 is like 500k so yeah 🤣

Honestly, after many years riding, I'll say if you want to cut your teeth doing track days the ZX-4RR makes a lot of sense but as a road bike there are so many better choices. I guess you've just got to get the sport bike thing on the street out of your system I suppose like I did (RGV 250s). Personally, my recommendation would be a Street Triple as a step up from the Ninja 300 for road riding.

No need to regret. It's all about gradual progression at each stage to appreciate each bike's rideability and horsepower from small to bigger cc bikes. However, once you touch the ZX-6R with 120HP at the rear wheel, you will never want to go back to 400cc bikes again, LOL. So now enjoy while you can. Litre-class sports bikes are way overkill on the road and harder to control to avoid trouble, which I've owned and ridden many but mainly for bragging rights. To me, nothing beats the satisfaction from riding the Ninja ZX-6R - you drop down a gear or two you can catch up with any litre-bikes on the streets and even the canyons.

Most litre-class sports bikes come with 6-axis IMUs which makes them waaay easier to control than something that doesn't by giving the rider a safety net. Can you exploit all that 1000cc sport bike potential on the street? Mostly not, but there are times where it counts a lot. Can you exploit all that 400cc sport bike potential on the street? Mostly yes, but there are times where it'll leave you wanting more. How you like to ride is the biggest factor in your choice. Personally I prefer a grunty 1000cc naked bike for my street riding. When you start getting carried away the wind blast strain makes you reign it back. Sports bikes are fantastic pieces of engineering and great on tracks but just silly on the road.

I like this bike and would like to buy it but its too expensive and the 2024 version is goin up in price! This needs to come down $2000 and I would jump on it. They should also give NA market full power. This is not too expensive on insurance as a new rider like the R7 would be so for me its either this or Ninja 400.

Okay so this cost more than an R7. But maybe if you put even more money into it you can give it as much horsepower as an R7. Shame it won't have near as much pull, still. But you know, hey it sounds good... Granted so does a used zx6

Hp is not everything zx4 is track bike r7 is not

@@rt2255 torque is useful on track, too. It gets you out of the corners quicker. And 70 hp is 70 hp (considering they are the same weight). The r7 still has an aggressive sports seating position with the windscreen to tuck under the wind. Time only tells which will be faster around a track. But i wouldn't be surprised if the r7 is faster

@@brianbelcher7279 i think it all comes down to rider preference, i like 4s, lived older rz 350. Small thin light. The corner speed you could carry, stay on the pipe was rocket out of corner again both great bikes just personal preference. On paper equal in life both have strong and weak points. Twin definrtly wins torque war, zx4 the top end once flashed is 72hp at wheel on dyno. My.only gripe on the 4 it could be 30lbs lighter. In 90s a few 400 fours were in 360 to 370lb range, less.poeer than now but if zx4 was 370 wet great. I am 5 7 135 so torque is not as big a issue. I have always had 30 to 50lb advantage over most average guys. My old zx6 had 3 buddies with them, 170 to 190 lb guys they hated me as 30 40 50 lbs less made me the quickest 600 in the group lol now on 1000 with.monster torque and power advantage no big deal. But zx4 perfect for small guys like me as most r7 riders torque offset by my light weight lol

Seems like such a funny market placement, ZX6R isn’t much more expensive but offers a lot more and you can always keep it at lower power output if you’re learning

I believe it makes more sense in Europe if I am not mistaken. They have class licenses and 400 is the cap on the first one.

I still have my 2017 ninja 300 sitting next to the zx4rr. Its a great daily and a rather small jump. Last year I sold my Cbr600rr because i knew the zx4 was coming

Basically, a 600 is better in every way if you can ride. The only reason this bike is relevant is bc it looks like a 600 and has tft and tech w the (rr). You can put taller clip ons and adjustable rearsets on a 600 if you're worried about too racy a position.

I had zx6 i love zx4, insurance cheaper by a good bit. For basic curvy roads and track unless track us huge zx6 never gets to top speed and suspension is more tracck.oriented. so many looking for peak.power and speed and had zx6 98% of time used neither. I am small 5 7 135lbs 400 in curves is as fast and more fun. Not every one needs 160mph or wants it, used so.little it is wasted. 400 four is great for us smaller guys and after yrs on sportbikes 600 750 1000 i.prefer 400 fpur screamer for just pure fun and grins. Buy what fits you, but no need to do just hp and speed comparison, ride one you may look at it different even if you prefer 600 or 1000

Perhaps, but a 400/4 is sort of a magical little creature. I’m not a sportbike guy, and I’d never consider a 600. But this? Maybe. I’ve loved 400/4s for many years.

But on the street a 400 four is great as you can run it up to redline and not be at insane speeds. Modern 600,( have owned 3 zx6s) are 160mph bikes way more than anyone needs on street, second gear breaks every speed limit in USA. 400 four is also a bike you can hone skills without going faster than needed on street.

Jumping from the Ninja 300 (or 400) to the ZX4R is a big leap. The ZX4R has been designed to be a full fledged race spec bike for the track. You will realise it's full potential once you take it to track. On a side note: The R7, it was not really made to replace the R6.

I’l take the R7 over ZX-4RR and I can tell you I’m a Kawasaki fan but they advertised as a beginner track machine but in reality this is not any different than Ninja 400, that by the way is 50 % cheaper.

For me i would get the zx4 before zx6 just cause here for new person that just got there moto liscence th cost of a plate a years which is 1800$ a years will jump to 3000$ which im not that down for that 😂
