Do I REGRET buying VINTAGE luxury bags?

I have a vintage Ferragamo, our best guess is it’s from 60s-70s. The smell of the leather is absolutely amazing, even with its age.

Sometimes there is a fine line between ware adding ' character ' to a bag ,...or making it look like it should be displayed as an ancient battered relic in the nearest archeological museum ! 🤔🤣♥️

I no longer buy vintage unless I source them myself while thrifting or at consignment stores. I was tired of them never looking like the photo and the odors. Never shopping online for vintage again 😢.

Love a vintage bag. My first Kelly was from 1978 and it’s so interesting to see the evolution of craftsmanship, logo, hardware, et. al in comparison to newer bags. Beautiful but with some wear, it gave me the feeling of freedom to use it with abandon haha Love your bags Jess - and your journeys through the secondhand shops are always a treat and feast for the eyes. Team "pay less than retail, in like-new condition". It can be a real treasure hunt, however buys can be few and far between. When I've compromised or if the item is not as described it affects how much I use it, so it's better for me to hold out. I just used a credit to get a vintage cream calfskin tote, found a coffee(I hope) stain on the handle, and feel slightly ripped off(it was $15, and the leather feels great, so could have been worse). I want to redye it! Buying vintage sometimes has hidden costs in terms of timewasting

Hi Jess!!! I only have 2 bags from my mother that were bought in the 80's. I buy new. I like the idea that I know the person that had it and it was only 1 person. I bought a Fendi evening bag in the 80's, so it's my vintage bag 😆

Definitely happy to get vintage, especially Chanel., some Hermes too. I love Ardennes, absolutely excellent leather which is discontinued. To me, it’s the quality and the rarity, I only buy great to excellent condition. I would be very careful to buy any bag over £15, (around 30k AUD I think) new or preloved, unless you have the spare cash. You can’t resell it to get your money back, I notice there are huge amount of resell stocks, some are almost new, U or W stamp, still don’t sell. Globally, people are slowing down in buying high ends luxury because they don’t resell well anymore. When they lost 50 to 80 % of values and still don’t sell, that hurts. 😅😅 Whereas if you buy vintage, you almost guarantee to pay much less and because the concept of truly rare not sunk into people minds yet. You can still get a good one and likely to resell it without losing as much values.

I like vintage sometimes but ain’t don’t trust preloved a lot of the time. I am paranoid. But I would prefer a vintage Chanel since the new ones are not as great quality. Your vintage Ferragamo is so pretty! The Rouge Vif Kelly 28 is PERFECTION!❤ I really like your bag in crinoline!

Love this topic Jess & seeing your vintage pieces ❤ My vintage Kelly 35 in buffle skipper leather is my fav. handbag in my collection. I don't mind the wear on it; it adds character. On other bags (ie. LV/Chanel) I prefer very good to excellent condition.

I have a vintage ostrich Delvaux bag. I bought it for 500 euros. It is my only ostrich bag. I don't think I overpayed. It is still in excellent condition. I also have two vintage chanel bags. Also one from my birthyear. I really overpayed, but I love it and I wore it a lot of times. The other vintage chanel bag is a black patent leather and I don't think I would buy an expensive new chanel bag in black patent leather, because it doesn't feel luxurious. I love the look of a patent leather bag.

Thanks Jessie for another great video! I would say for myself Team New most of the time. I just love the new bag feeling and the fact that I am the first owner of the bag and I get to use it first before anyone else hehehee! However I wouldn't mind buying from friends I know 😄 I would consider vintage and preloved if I could save. I admire vintage bags from other people's collections ❤❤

A lot of my collection is preloved. Quite a few vintage pieces too. Ive noticed tho if its not in decent condition and dingy on the outside then I wont wear it as it just looks scruffy and I dont feel comfortable going out with it. And I seem to focus on the issue with it and get a bit fixated. If its on the inside and not noticeable Im more relaxed. So I always look for the well kept ones. That said I did fall off the wagon today and got a preloved proenza schouler ps1 mini which I know isnt in the best condition on the inside. The outside looked ok. Its suede so will see how it looks and how I feel when it gets delivered. It was a beautiful burgundy colour. I thought I’d hop on one now before they come back around and the prices go wild. Slowly collecting some past it bags. If you want pics of anymore bags in my collection let me know. Ive got louis, ysl, gucci and all sorts

I get preloved only however I find I used to restore pieces before but now I prefer just getting the good quality vintage which needs minimal spa. I considered a bag which needs a full spa but it will cost extra hence it’s sort of overpriced at that point hence not worth it. If there is wear then it needs to be in the realm I can live with.❤

I think. In terms of Chanel is that now they do thicker finishes on top of their leather. Where in the past they would just let the natural leather shine through more.

I don't mind second hand bags or much older ones what u call vintage. But the problem is I want them in new looking condition and most of them look so musty worn dry I never found anything that's decent enough
