I double crowned Zhongli since he's one of my favorite characters and I can say I agree that it doesn't matter who gets crowned but it does matter if the abilities are worth crowning or not since it's resource heavy and that resource could have been allocated elsewhere to further improve the player account. I probably could've been fine with Zhongli's E and Q at Lvl 8 but I still double crowned him and it took me a while to make any meaningful improvements with my other characters like Albedo. Not trying to say that you're wrong, just giving my take and perspective for those that want to crown characters but don't know who.

I keep hearing the take that ayato is just an easier childe, but with less dmg potential. This is true in vape. With proper rotations, childe will generally do more damage and apply more hydro for xiangling than ayato can. But I feel like this take doesn't apply to any other team comps. No matter how well you manage childe's E cooldown, he will never be as valuable as ayato for freeze and arguably many taser comps because you cannot have consistent uptime. Imo, his true value is his flexibility. If you have childe, xinqiu and kokomi, there's not much value in pulling for him. But otherwise, he could potentially open the door for so many team comps.

I pulled for both because ayato looks cooler and tested spyral abyss. Any team that’s not a vape team has the lowest damage output. Childe might be better when both are at c0 at a vape team while ayato is better with tazer and freeze. Difference being taser team lacks damage for the value of investing compared to the vape team. But all that aside nothing is more satisfying than having a hydro dps unit to enable all your teams especially with ayato with his uptime. For players concerned about meta dont pull ayato if you have childe especially at c0 but for the sole purpose of having that vergil dmc combo pull for ayato. He is good. Not just okay or not bad. He is good

Childe isn't for everyone. Anyone who want easier gameplay can go for Ayato. But once you understand how to play Childe, you'll never stop using him because of Riptide effect and pairing him with xiangling in international teams can clear any content in game

Childe main agrees. You won't understand the addiction of Riptide lust until you start using him. Ayato and childe are similar to hutao and yoimiya. Both of Inazuma characters have low skill floor but low dmg ceiling as well.(at c0)

What I love about Ayato is that his E is where most of his dmg comes from. So when I walk around in the world to beat Nobushi for example, I can just keep using his E instead of hoping that I get my Q back everytime.

I think Ayato is one of the best-designed characters Hoyoverse has released in a while. So many recent characters (esp. 4-star supports) have been created to fit 1 single niche role in a particular team, so that they artificially would have a place in the metagame without powercreeping older units. Ayato is the opposite way, a character that is extremely versatile and fits in so many teams; BUT leaves Childe as the better choice for a specific team. I hope that Hoyoverse can continue to design new characters like Ayato that enable new strategies and team compositions, without raising the power level (invalidating older units) or existing only in a tiny niche.

There are ppl who crown childes normals so i dont think any thing in this game could go wrong and as for childes e uptime as a childe main i would say he is char that will require your attention , you have to master his cooldowns , mechanic's and learn how to play him he is a char where either you play him like a idiot and wait for year to get his e Or have a a good rotation with total uptime and as for damage childes damage is less than ayato but he is better enabler and does more damgae in his nuke and he gets his value in his international team where as ayato is not as good as childe in that team but still works and also in the end it doesn't matter much since Xiangling is doing all the work Edit: yes childe also does alot of damage in international too but xiangling still does more on a f2p level atleast

I just use childe xiangling with raiden and i know that i should switch out when xiangling's burst expire. Then raiden does her stuff. Xiangling burst starts and childe is off the cd. voila! You can stay with childe for as long as xiangling burst is on, thats what I like

As a childe main being my first five star since 1.4 using him religiously. I have both Childe and Ayato, I love playing them both and I have a use for both. Ayato is incredible with freeze morgana, and Childe is absolutely insane with xiangling vaporize. They have their strengths and weaknesses but their different teams let me use them both equally

Double crowned him on the first day that I got him, leveled his signature weapon (which I honestly didn't need to have but I got cuz I had spare primos and why not for my favorite character). And he has skyrocketed to one of my most fun and most played units. I don't really regret crowning anyone (except for that one time I crowned Keqing since she was the only primary DPS I had at the time) because you can justify giving them to your favorite units. Genshin is an easy game able to be beaten using objectively bad characters so I don't really care so long as it doesn't stifle my enjoyment of the game. The last time I was this ready to give up most of my resources was after I got Kazuha (triple crowned now and one of my strongest units in my account). Ayato may not hit as hard as my Hu Tao Ganyu and Xiao that I have used and built for a while, but he is by far the most entertaining one to use for me.

one thing to keep in mind is that even though childe is limited to a few teams, his 1 top meta team not only is widely considered the best in the game, but it has proven time again that it destroys any content in abyss from SingleTarget to AOE even at extremely low investments. he doesn't *need* multiple teams because international is one of if not the best team option in almost every abyss since 2.0

Completely agree, having support/off-field DPS units make content supremely easy. There are some 4*s who can slot into many many teams and you can switch out your favourite on-field/shiny new unit and you can still stomp. Support Impact FTW.

In my case, I am mostly focusing on characters that I either like visually or personally, or that I find "fun" gameplay-wise. By fun, I mean that it requires some learning curve to get the most out of them. That is why I pulled for hutao. I love the high risk/reward aspect of her kit. The charged attack jump cancel are also nice. I now also use her charged attack as not only a way to deal damage but also to dogdge enemy attacks, by purposefully jump cancelling it late so that she ends up behind the enemy. I also have my eyes on beidou which also looks very interesting to play. In that regard, ganyu, or ayato dont look very fun to me.

a thing that people don't understand, is that ayato came before his best team, i think mihoyo may have thrown a curve ball with ayato, ayato and tartaglia will grow further apart in terms of roles. not only i think that ayato will benefit from dendro reaction more than all other hydro unit but i think that when we get a 5 star normal attacking support, ayato will be revaluated, and let's be honest we need a pyro xinqu, that will give the opportunity to ayato to vape reliably. i know that it may seem copium but i feel that alla these ideas all these characetrs are simple concept that will come, not even mentioning dendro so, ayato is a sleeper pick imo because as you said supports are the most important part of a team, but i think that Ayato is missing his key support, is like if tartaglia dind't had xianling or hu tao her xinqu or ganyu her zhongli, and considering that xinqu and xianling are basically 6 star character and yunjin even tho she is good, her buff is very low ceiling compared to the utility that those other support provide to their respective carries, i am convinced that ayato don't need so much time to bloom( like his flowers XD ok i stop it) so yes ayato don't have any insane synergy with any team right now and i think and i hope that mihoyo has plans for him

@@milosomboonwiwat238 I understand that the buff is only for this cycle. It’s just he open up so many variations with NA unit since his Q is 20 second hydro application with 18-20% NA buff. For now probably eula, yoimiya, phy dps and probably catalyst dps can benefit from this NA buff since the roster we currently have doesn’t really focus on NA but probably in the future we’ll get one. He’s a balanced unit imo. I don’t consider him an amazing main dps (compared to other main dps) or account changing unit but if you use him as a main dps he’ll get the job done for sure.

Your bit about supports is so true! I feel like Genshin is releasing a bunch of DPS units right now but you will always come back to the same supports. Xangling, Bennett, Xingxu, fish, beuido, Sucrose, I even include diona as one of the best F2P 4* supports since she can do both shields n heals. If you have those characters all 70+ decently built you can swap in ANY of the DPS units. I appreciate having a DPS that also has support options like Raiden for Eula, ayato for freeze etc.

I mean if you have Mona then that’s more than fine enough for freeze teams, it’s just a little less hydro application for a shorter time than say Kokomi or Ayato but her omen buff from her burst makes her teams have the most dmg, if Childe is your only 5 star hydro then it’s not that bad to get an Ayato too just to enable freeze teams

I'll say this as someone who plays both Childe and Ayato. Childe is still the best option for vaporize teams and can output the most damage (insane quadratic scaling with multiple enemies and a nuke burst) however, he is someone that requires a lot micromanaging when it comes to team rotations, but you get the most satisfying results if you do it right. Ayato's strongest teams are with taser and freeze. He has really good off field hydro application and a large AOE but still suffers from ICD that's why he is not a consistent hydro applicator like Childe, his team rotations at this current point of the game is a bit scuffed. He is very easy to play in comparison to childe but output good enough overall damage. I'd say if you're a meta player Childe is still the best option for overall team damage. But if you don't care about meta Ayato is a comfier pick as he is easier to play.

As someone in the same boat. Clearing abyss is no problem for me anymore and ayato just looked fun and so I got him. I knew he wasn’t going to be a dps character like hu Tao or Eula that can put up super high numbers in one hit. But he has other qualities and benefits that those characters don’t have. Even though the abyss isn’t perfectly suited for his style yet, pairing his burst with ganyus and then using sucrose or kazuha to group enemies into a permafreeze is so insanely strong. Love the character so far :)

The thing is, people are so biased towards Childe and doesn't give Ayato a chance to shine leaving him a tag of "just Childe but worst". Ayato as C0 is a balanced character that doesn't fall behind Childe. His damage is still insanely good and works with different comps. He even shines more when you have his constellations. So I don't see why people call him bad when so far all the showcases i see prove that he's not. I mean yeah sure when you get how Childe works it's great but i can also argue that if you can fight in an easier way then why not do it? That's why we have Ayato. He's value comes with his insane flexibility and no CD issues. By the way Ayato also has insane damage with his NA that if i don't wanna switch to other characters while waiting for his E, then i can just do some slashes with his NA. He's tbh the only character who I can use all of his abilities: NA, E and Q. All giving huge numbers! If you have C6 Bennett, his NA even becomes pyro, and his charged attacks can work like Hu Tao's. He's insane tbh!

This is how I see it. In their best team(EC Ayato and Childe national), Childe is just better. Most people aren't gonna check how viable and flexible Ayato is if not one of his various team comps is better than Childes team. I saw the IWTL video and basically in solo play Ayato is better but once their best team is involved, Childe is better.

That's what full teams should mean. Not with people forcing Ayato in vape comps when he's better with freeze and taser teams. The only time Childe outshine Ayato was in F2P showdown. Even that wasn't a huge of a difference either.

One of the biggest wins for Ayato is that he can deal constant good damage, without it costing any stamina. My biggest headache in Abyss when I juggle Hu Tao / Ayaka or other DPS in general is that when you need to sprint/dodge you miss some DPS because theres not enough stamina for charged attacks, then you're all out of dodges too. Low stamina? Ayato doesn't care. Same DPS still works.

Event though the current abyss isn't hard as the previous ones, with Ayato I was able to 36 🌟 it quite comfortably. Ayato doesn't break the game nor he's op. He's just hit the sweet spot of a DPS for me 🌀

I was regretting getting ayato at first as I desperately wanted a dps, but now I main him all the time. Comparing with other dps now I feel like ayato is better because of his versatility. hutao needs staff of homa or the battlepass weapon and drains her hp, ayaka don't have resistance to interruption, ganyu is a bow user. Hu Tao does not need a homa lol. I was still hitting 23k charged attacks (with 75% crit rate) NOT vaporized with just a deathmatch and Zhongli’s shield with her 😂 she’s in another league it’s insane. With vape it obvs goes up to like 50-75k per charged attack (though you probably won’t hit consistently over 60k without homa). And With Zhongli in general you never have to look at her hp again, I often run her at 1%hp besides the 1% of the time there’s corrosion mobs And with Ayato’s burst it’s definitely better for lots of mobs, nuke bursts are better for single target stuff for sure

You're correct about Childe having a big skill cap. I use Childe fireworks, and it is very hard to use: Managing Childe's E time, Parrying with Beidou, and following a combo (Bennett Q > Childe Ranged Q > Fischl Q > Beidou E Parry > Beidou Q > Childe E 6 seconds > Bennett E > Fischl E > Beidou E Parry > Bennett E and repeat). Not as hard as Sukokomon, but it's definitely hard as a beginner.

I prefarmed for his artifacts, talent and ascension materials along with the mora and heros wits to level him up and get his talents up to 8/8/8 But ended up with 4/10/8 so his E is the first skill Ive ever crowned in any of my accounts. I did pull for Childe’s banner because I really need a Hydro DPS but lost the 50/50 to Mona ;-; so when Ayato came it clearly became a hope for me (I have Rust but I’m bad in maintaining the cooldown of certain characters E skills) so I pulled and got Ayato, he’s pretty good but not like Hutao (she hits hard when I had her at level 65) still he works amazingly well with her and he does quite the damage (my artifacts are pretty bad at the moment) so I’m really glad I got him. He’s amazing I love his E skill and Q skill even in terms of damage and aesthetics.

Childe is my favorite character in this game gameplay wise. I love his fast attacks. The AoE from his melee stance is so satisfying. At the same time I love Ayato as well, since I feel like they have a fairly similar playstyle. Fast AoE hydro attacks. Just up my alley. I also double crowned my Ayato. I have Childe at level 80, benched for 8 months now (he came home unexpectedly while I was pulling for Rosaria last yr), but I spent my guaranteed pity for Ayato and leveled him up to 90, making him my hydro dps... I did not regret crowning his Elemental Skill and even tried to do 20 pulls for his Haran (sadly, didn't get it and I have to continue saving to pull for his sister) This video inspired me to give another crown to his burst (Talent level: 9/10/9)

I have both Tartaglia and Ayato (Childe from 1.1). Both are triplecrowned. Both have a 5* weapon (Harp and Jade Cutter). Both are built to be the main dps. Both are C0. Ayato has a little better crit ratio because he's much easier to build compared to Childe, who doesn't have a crit ascension and relies on weapon and artifacts, but overall Childe: 65/190 and Ayato: 69/220. My final thoughts on them are, they complement each others' faults and can coexist without Childe "feeling" powercrept. Childe is more focused on dealing with mobs, thanks to riptide and how fast he can apply it, while Ayato can easily deal with bosses and mobs alike but can't match riptide.

There’s all sorts of videos comparing C0 Ayato to Childe, and more often than not Ayato will kill faster than Childe, as long as long as Childe isn’t using the double vapes with a pyro sub. I managed to get ayato within just 2 pulls (50/50) and I have never pulled on the weapon banners because I just felt it’s more of a scam, but I really wanted ayato’s weapon since it’s good and I managed to get BOTH haran and elegy in one 10 pull at 55 I was baffled. After raising ayato to 90 I had some blue standard fates.. I pulled and got freakin primordial jade for my xiao (my very first 5 star character) and I almost cried. Never had that much luck before and I absolutely love ayato so far, he’s stronk af (i still love childe more) but meta wise ayato paired with electro units is a great taser group!
