After over 3,000 miles we pull off the valve cover again! This will allow us to see what another 1,500 miles of high detergent Royal purple can do to clean. This time we do the usual inspections then we set up the race car with a fresh Royal Purple XPR oil change.

For the record, it doesn't add horsepower, it reduces friction and that removes some frictional loss in the engine. Kinda splitting hairs, but it's important to understand the why

I drive a 1 owner 2004 Toyota Tacoma with 3l v6. It has always had proper maintenance done immediately and mostly highway miles was always on mobile 1 full syn. So I ran 4k miles on a k&n oil filter with the normal api royal purple. Flushed it out yesterday and added new k&n filter with 5w30 royal purple XPR and dude. Engine starts easier Starter turns engine over faster It's waaaay quieter at idle and load. You can literally feel a slight difference in acceleration and it sounds better while accelerating. I will never go back. XPR 4 life. Oh yeah engine has 350k miles on it. (But has always been taken care of with love ❤)

I decided to push Royal Purple HMX 16 months and 7500 miles. I'm at the 15 month mark and 7000 miles. Oil is beginning to stain cams. Usually I've done 12 months at 7500 miles (yes, I've met both 3 years in a row) and nothing gets stained. RP don't like it when it's over a year old regardless of mileage.

Every time I change my oil, when the oil pan looks like it out of oil, I get new quart of oil and I pour few ounces into the block. Do this until the oil draining out of the oil pan looks like clean unused oil. I then replace the oil drain plug and proceed with the refilling the engine with new oil. Also, before i go on a long trip I change the oil and when I get back from the trip, I change the oil again.

This is old but I'm just now watching this video. I have a 06 h3 hummer over 200 thousand miles. I had a serious oil leak and it was rear main seal. Got that fixed but oil was still disappearing. Like most who love there old reliable vehicle. I changed all sensors and wow the vvt seal was shot 😆. I had notice that area was always full of oil but never once did I think that was where the oil was leaking from lol. The seal was flat as a pancake lol. Since then that area has been clean as a whistle 😆. But I'm still going to replace old valve cover being its a old truck. Point is no more lost of oil. I had been thinking of using royal purple to clean out engine or using engine flush. Seeing this video. I'm sold and will be using this oil. Think for your very detailed no b.s. video. Most other people videos I've seen I'm just like. Naw something is off. But yours is believable and logical evidence has shown me it's ok to use. So thanks.

RP HPS with Lucas oil additive is what I use in all my trucks, I run the Lucas OG formula in my older makes and the Synthetic formula in my newer trucks. This is because of bearing clearance and piston ring packages. The Lucas lets the oil to stick to the cylinder walls and bearings after shut off and for vehicles that seat for long periods of time between startups. It keeps a layer of oil on the cylinder walls and bearings., keep them from dry starting, which is the number one killer to a engine.

In my honest opinion. Using racing oil on a break in isnt a good idea. Also using 0w would be better especially since the engine is beginning the break in period especially when holding off on high revs as well. After 10k or so these "seasons" at the track can then start. Then the racing oil has a true purpose. But who am I? A halo 2 PC lover that knows oils dont add HP ❤ - Master Cheef

Hey there I used to work at O’Reilly auto parts so I knew a bunch of people that bought royal purple all the time and where faithful to the oil, I have a project going on at the moment I’m setting up a 2016 550i n63tu Engine, and I was wondering if I should use Royal purple, thinking about 5w-40 but there isn’t really a clear choice on what oil to use, for example the user manual “book” says to use 0w-30 0w-40 and or 5w-30 5w-40 I live in Texas what wold you recommend?? And beautiful car you have 💯

They reccomended Mobil 1 5w-30 full synthetic in my2007 G35’coupe.I live in GA and what I’m bout to tell you might not work for other engines but for my vq35de engine which is a 3.5l v6 that’s in a 03-07 G35’coupe. I purchased the car with 150k miles, the car was running, idling and driving like a new car. But I noticed after every 350-500 miles it would burn almost a WHOLE quart of oil. Crazy right!! I owned a couple other vq35de engine cars with same engine and I always knew they burn oil but for a car to run and drive this good and burn this much oil would scare anyone..anyways by my first oil change (3.5k) it would’ve been down to 0 quarts left if it wasn’t for me putting in oil accordingly. That same day when I changed my oil I put in 5w-30 Mobil 1(full synthetic) even thou the previous(original) owner swore that’s all she used for 150k miles. I put the same oil and same results and this time around I noticed when I would push the petal to the floor to accelerate I’d see puffy grey smoke fogging up everything in my rear view. So that’s when I thought okay this car clearly wasn’t taken care of as she said... the second oil change came around I used 10w-30 Mobil 1(Full Syn) I went from 5w-30 to now tryin 10w-30, I figured higher mileage needs a little thicker viscosity, about 20 miles into that oil change I had some weird idea to add royal purple 5w-30 since I had a whole 5qts sitting I figured why not if the car burns a quart within 200 miles I’ll add a quart of purple.. so I put a quart of RP 5w-30 now the car has 5 quarts with only 1 quart being RP...1.5 k miles down the road no oil added like before because nothing was missing. But I did notice that the oil was reallly dark. However I thought the RP made it darker due to color of purple RP oil. So I made it to a little over 3.5k miles and I had maybe 4/5 quarts come out the engine. I put a new filter like always and this time put half and half. 2.5 qts mobil1 10w-30 and 2.5 of RP 5w-30..it’s now been 25k miles since I figured out the formula which stopped my engine from burning crazy amount of oil. And the car that I thought was perfect inside and out is now 100 times better in regards to everything still being perfect running/driving wise. But where I noticed the black smoke on acceleration and the huge amount of oil being burned that was all gone now and my car felt more responsive. Seemed like what I thought was pretty quick when I first bought the car, to now taking off from a dig feels like the car gained 30-40% more kick then before. Even when on the freeway at 60-70 and I would punch it the car would just respond on the dime and everything felt more inline. The change wasn’t dramatic if you didn’t know what you’re looking at but to me it was night and day... this was my story with RP. Hope it helps you

Everyone has their own picks of favorites for things however RP is actually an inferior oil compared to most oils on the market. We swapped through 13 different oils on the market for our fleet after sending in years of oil samples and the top four were in order Schaffers, Amsoil, Mobil 1 and I believe Pennzoil if I remember. RP is comparable to Kendall and Lucas per hundreds of oil samples which both are low grade oils with Lucas being advertised as an exotic oil for some reason. Does not matter what you own ever single oil sold on the market will allow an engine to last for at least 500k miles of changed regularly . We have a 2005 F150 in our fleet with 1,211,000 miles last I checked and we started extended oil changes to 17k miles in around 2007 or so which is 3x’s what’s required. Oil samples told us we could so we did. Everything is original except for the differential and transmission. These trucks are highway runners for rebuilt engines we transport and I think that particular truck had pennzoil the majority of its life. We are at 20-22 k oil changed now on our entire fleet that’s newer than 2019.

I have started using the XPR in my 2004 cadillac cts 3.6l just because the car seems to like it and just runs better. The extra protection it gives also helps since I work security and often end up using my rig to move around on site and don't always have the opportunity to give it a minute to warm up and circulate before flying over to security breach locations. I have considered getting a Ford Crown Victoria P71 for my work but haven't done it yet. FYI I am the owner of my security business and though I don't always work the job I occasionally have to fill in for a call in so this is why I can get away with using my own rig for security use especially since the rig is appropriate colored and does have aftermarket orange hazard lights hidden in the existing lights.

Amsoil Signature Series barely outperforms Royal Purples off the shelf API Oil. That's what you saw. Royal Purple HPS and XPR are completely different Animals.

I do the change once a year. Track time is hard on oils. Doesn’t matter the mileage.

@@TenzaMotorsports If engine has some buildup, how do you get it clean like this? Frequent flushes ? Synthetic oil doesn't help on deposits already present, it only keeps oil from sludgeing up.

Some oil cleans up sludge. They brag about it all the time on the commercials. Royal purple does a really good job

@@TenzaMotorsports I just used RP for the first time. Vehicle has always been maintained with 2000 mile oil changes. I noticed the dry start and idle is quiet now. RPM is beneath a 1000 now cold. Acceleration is smooth and fast too.

I use Royal Purple HPS on my diesel 200-series Land Cruiser and my 11-year old Camry. To be completely honest, I only noticed a smoother idle from the two vehicles. That to me is more than enough reason to stick with Royal Purple.

Lot of oils that would protect your high performance engine way better.

My biggest concern about RP is that I have seen it shear out of grade after just 1,000 miles in a daily driver. My assumption is that it is designed to do that ... and that's where the increases in horsepower come from (reduced pumping losses). Does that compromise protection? Uncertain.

Probably the api licensed stuff, hps and xpr are completely different blends compared to the stuff on the shelf at parts stores.

116k miles. Never used purple b4, should I use 5w40 or 5w30 for cleaning?

Both are same thing. But you have to read the manual book if your car required 5W30 or 5W40. I did mine when I have 300k for clean and other. This RP made my car quietly.

If you want to get that engine really clean just substitute one quart of oil with some atf and run it for a few hundred miles.
