Amazing channel. I'm happy I found it. I'm interested in applying for a call center job in Colombia, and I was a little concern about what can I expect from the job. This put things really clear and give me some great directions on how to assume this challenging job offer. I'd be practicing till I get hired. Thanks man, this is really helpfull.

Always confirm with your customer that you understood their request. You can do this by repeating the key parts of their concern. "Ma'am, so I understand you are having trouble with .... and you would like me to ...." Customers just want to know you understand their issue and can provide them a solution on that call. Best of luck to you in your new job. Keep learning and applying your skills to ensure you have a rewarding career.

Francisco, There are lots of resources on the web to help you. Apply for a call center job and ask the recruiter what skills you need to improve on to get the job. Once you know that you can focus on learning that skill. Also keep in contact with the companies you apply to. If they see your effort they may give you a break or even help you with needed training or support.

And I'm not that very fast in speaking English, that's only my second language. But I was dreaming to become one and I think I should be focus first on how to deliver my English very well because this is part of the test especially when you have already your interview. Reading the comments below, I read 'who would be dreaming to be a call center', I think I am.. It's been my dream I wanted to pursue so I decided to resign from my work as a banker for 5 years. I'll be having for an interview next week in one of the call center here in the Philippines and I'm so thankful that I found this channel and helps me a lot to decide to really pursue that dream of mine. Thanks for making this video..

Thanks a lot for this video. It is really helpful. Today was my last day of training and i took real calls for the first time and i personally feel it was a disaster because I was not familiar with the system enough and I have not had enough practice with typing, listening and talking at the same time. Do you have any recommendations for practicing or improving my multitasking ability in this regard? Thanks in advance.

Go home, talk to your husband while peeking at your phone when you are making pancakes or lunch for the family. What I mean by this is: start with things you already know, so you are cool doing 2 o 3 at the same time. Don't freak out at first, just be clear of what your goal is and hustle till you get to the point. Then call me to enjoy those pancakes :D

working in call center industry for 8 months and now in 11 hours because of the demand of workforce for cost cutting of labor rather than the quality of service?,...i don't think its enjoyable for me anymore as of this time,..and it depends on the account that you're working for.i originally applied for day shift for customer support but rather, due to the unavailability of other accounts that time, and had no choice..i ended up working for the 3rd most hated company in the US,..its kinda ironic that i prefer to talk to australians because i heard they can be polite rather than the americans that are mostly arrogant and have to work night shifts for long hours. and it is a matter of outsourcing for cheaper alternatives, as to why this company exploits us with minimum wages,we were also required with no choice but to conduct a sale which is quite inappropriate in due reasons of that we are assigned to handle calls in tech support department where complaints and problems abound rather than on sales where people call in because they're interested to avail the product,..and speaking of products,..i don't really recommend on what im selling,..but like i said,..i have no choice but to face more effort that they don't even pay me enough for...so it all depends the reputation of the account or the culture of the customers to justify if it would be enjoyable or a great experience in your own perspective..call centre can be a hardwork yes and an ultimate burn out for long and unnatural schedule shifts...but all in all, its really in for the money...im taking a break in this business and planning to resign until i get my 13th month pay first or the income tax return. kayo ng bahala sa gusto nyo, for me i need my normal life back.....and oh whether you're a customer or an account expert,.stay away from Comcast..-this is coming from drained person

Kevin, KZbin flagged your comments as spam, which is why they did not show up until today. I approved your comments because you have good points to share with others. So thank you for them. Call centers that have high absents or high attrition will extend shifts and ask existing people to work longer hours. This practice works for a short period of time before all the people decide to leave. They need better hiring and retention processes or better skills in the workforce management area. Yes some companies want to sell products on every call. This is usually done so they can get quick revenue, but it is a flawed approach and rarely results in better customer service. I agree it is hard for the agents to sell when you don't believe it to be right for the customer. Provide customer examples to your management team to shown them why not every customer needs to be sold on every call. Customers (Americans or Australians) get angry when the product or service does not work as expected. Unfortunately the Customer Service representatives are the people who have to take the brunt of the verbal dissatisfaction. See if your company has a program to track negative feedback from Customers. Collecting that data often helps to solve common problems that cause Customers to become angry. Thank you again for your valuable comments.

Best of luck to you in your interviews. Ask what type of work the Call Center does. Certain types may be more appealing than others to you, sales vs service. ;)
